It Was You I was Thinking Of
I hope everyone likes this one! Oh, and the song used here is "Creep" by Radiohead! I don't own any of them, but it would be cool, in an odd way...
Prologue: "First Things First"
A start of a new school year, thought Nate, as he rode on his bike to the memorable school of. It's the last year of junior high for him, and then soon, he'll be going to high school, which to him seems so soon, as if it'll be the next day that he'll go to highschool. Luckily for him, he's not going alone, he's going to be with some of his friends that he has known for a moderate amount of years to actually know them, so pretty much he's not alone. Summer seemed so short as well, last thing he remembered was swimming in a pool, and then getting a sunburn on his shoulder, and then his little sister pushing him into the pool, now he has to go back and hit the books, see his friends, and hopefully finding a lasting relationship. His last relationship with a girl was all-right, but she was too quiet for him, and he was too perverted and loud for her, so it didn't really work, hopefully he could find someone with at least the same similar personality or similar likes and dislikes as him. The last thing needed was someone who disagreed with almost everything he does.
Inside the cafeteria to wait for the bell to ring to get to first period, he just sat with his usual circle of friends, and sometimes he would notice that they would go to another table for a few seconds,
"Hey Nate, I want you to meet a few other friends!" A tall girl said, leading him to a table across the cafeteria. He followed, and the tall girl, named Liz took him there, to meet a group of girls, all seemed kind of like misfits were laughing, and when he and Liz approached, the laughing died down, and they all greeted them,
"Hey guys!" Liz greeted as well, while Nate just waved, "guys, this is Nate! He pretty much likes anime as all of us!""Hey! I think I know you! You're in symphonic band aren't you?" One of the girls asked, standing next to him, pretty short in height, but she still looked at him in the eye to get a better look,
"Oh yeah! You're in my band class!" He said, "Chloe, right?"
"Yeah! So you're Nate!" She replied, smiling more,
"I don't remember Chloe smiling that much!" One of her friends said, as she walked up to them,
"what do you mean?" Liz asked,
"well the thing is, Chloe does smile, but something about this smile is different..." One of Chloe's friends answered, shrugging. Nate looked at Chloe again, and noticed that even though that she was short, she still had something about herself that he couldn't help but find either cute, or beautiful.
The bell rang, and everyone was out in the courtyard, socializing, and catching up on the latest gossip. The group of girls that Chloe and Lisa were in, just stopped infront of a fence, and continued talking from there. Nate walked out, and saw the group, and decided to get to know Chloe more,
"hey!" He said,
"Oh hey Nate! Been such a long time since we talked huh?" Chloe jokingly said, walking up front. As the few minutes passed by, the others got to know each other more, and then the bell rang,
"see you in band okay?" Chloe said, facing backwards while following her friends, waving, and while she did, she acidentally bumped into someone, "oh, sorry!" She apologized, and looked back, and waved again, flushing in embarassment, and then ran off.
His first class was history, but nothing really important was going on, unless you count the teacher trying to get to know everyone in the class. He just sat there, staring at his own desk, thinking of things he would rather be doing than listening to the teacher ramble on about herself, saying that her favorite TV show is the History Channel, naturally. His thoughts were pretty normal, but something was nagging him, all of the sudden, his thoughts changed, and he could see someone with shoulder length raven black hair smiling at him, and as he continue to day dream, his thoughts focused, and he could see Chloe smiling at him, waving...
"See you in band class ok?" a voice echoed,
When you were here before...
"Chloe does smile, but something about this smile is different..." another voice echoed,
Couldn't look you in the eye...
She acknowledges me...
You're like an angel...
Your skin makes me cry..
"You're from symphonic band right?" She asked,
You float like a feather,
In a beautiful world,
I wish I was special...
So fuckin' special...
but, I'm not sure if I'm for her...
But I'm a creep,
I'm a weirdo...
What the hell am I doin' here?
I don't belong here...
There are probably other guys wanting to go out with her naturally, and she probably has a boyfriend already...
I want you to notice...
When I'm not around...
You're so fuckin' special,
I wish I was special...
hm...
Whatever makes you happy Whatever you want You're so fuckin' special I wish I was special...
Who is she?
But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo, What the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here. I don't belong here....
"Nate!" Someone called out, and when he finally sat up, he saw everyone looking at him,
"Oh, uh.. sorry.. still a little tired..." He lamely lied, trying to avoid everyone's eye contact. The teacher sighed, and smiled,
"Tell us about yourself dear..." She said. He just looked at everyone, some just looked at him, some weren't really paying attention,
"I.. Uh.. I play tenor sax and trumpet in band... I'm thirteen... I have a little sister named Jackie-"
"And you like a girl named C-H-L-O-E!" Some random student called out, trying to be funny, but it pathetically backfired, and someone else threw a paper ball at him,
"no one cares dude..." The owner of the paper ball said. The guy that threw it, was pretty much taller than everyone else in the class, he had curly black hair, which kind of seemed like an afro, but then again not. His face didn't really show any emotion, but maybe boredom, he just turned around, and sat back in his chair, and continued to doodle on his notebook, but something Nate noticed was a tatoo on his right hand. On the tan skin of the guy, layed a strange symbol in black and red, with little writing withing the symbol. The guy must've noticed, because he pulled the sleeve over.
The bell rang, and Nate was the first one out. He didn't want others to nag him about "who's Chloe?!" and "I think you're way out of even her league...". Course then again, the last remark was kind of right... Chloe may be a misfit among some of the people here, but she doesn't seem like a total and complete misfit. She fits somewhere... And then there's the fact about himself, not able to try and get with her, maybe he is way out of her league... he thought,
"hey, don't think like that..." someone muttered, patting Nate on the back,
"huh?" He said, looking straight ahead, but only saw someone's chest, and then looked up. When he did, he saw the guy that threw the paper ball at the other student who made a remark. This time, the tall guy's expression did still seem kind of bored, but he at least showed that he wanted give some help.
"It's not really a good idea to go thinking half-empty... By the way, the name's Anthony. Talk to her, she might be the person. Later," Anthony said, as he walked off, after patting Nate again on the back, almost knocking him forward.
Few months later, and it was December, when everyone was now comfortable with everything, and everyone was preparing for their holidays. During band class, the band teacher announced that there was a field trip to a university to see college students perform in band,
"now that you all paid, it's now time for all of you to choose your seat. Might I remind you that it has to be with the same sex, considering that we're going to arrive back really late at night-"
"yes!" students whispered, and while everyone continued to whisper, Nate took a glance at Chloe, who sat across the band room from him, and he noticed that when the band teacher mention 'same sex', there was some type of reaction, but he couldn't tell what.
After the whole seating arrangement, the bell rang, and everyone was out,
"hey Chloe!" Nate called out, it was as if someone planned it, when she turned around, a breeze blew, and the sun shown through the clouds, only on her like a spotlight. The sight took his breath away, as if he saw an angel, though then again, that might be exaggerating a bit too much...
"Yeah?" She called called over the sound of rustling trees,
"where did you sign?" He replied, walking towards her,
"oh I signed infront of you," she answered, gracing him with another smile,
"cool," he said.
She smiled again, and they both continued onto class.
