Side-Story: Sins of the Night

Darkness falls. Midnight whispers. Dawn echoes.

That was the world she lived in, the world she'd become accustomed to, the world she'd grown up in, the world which was more her home than the lightened hours of the day.

Alora LeRusso crept through the shadows that surrounded the apartment building. So quiet. How had she known it would be so silent wherever her little sister chose to set up camp. The pale woman tossed raven ringlets of her hair over her shoulder and watched the building with dark eyes. Yes, her sister was in there, her darling only little sister, the sister she had tried to protect.

'Failed that job miserably, n'est-ce pas?' a deep male voice echoed in her mind.

She ignored the voice - she always did - and circled the building till she heard voices coming from a cracked window. The first voice was strange and sexless, neither male nor female. The second, God, it was a voice she would know anywhere.

"... sure this is a good idea?" the first voice was asking.

She could almost see Claudia rolling her eyes. "Whether it's a good idea or not, we couldn't just leave her. She's just a kid after all." Her voice was soft and melancholy.

"She's also rabid. This looks like a wild dog tore into it."

"I'd appreciate it if you didn't touch it also, Maki. It's still rather painful."

She slunk back through the shadows away from the house and over the fence. Whoever had caused harm to Claudia was going to pay... and pay... and pay... and pay some more. Till what pain she was in had been visited back on them a thousand times.

Vengeance would be... sweet indeed.
