Reconciliation?

'blah' thoughts
//////////////
As the bright light died down, there were only ashes where the monster once stood. The glowing sphere was still where it was before the explosion. There was some movement within it. Kogashi and Yosha recovered from their unconciousness. Yosha saw a white, glowing form within the sphere holding another battered form in her arms.

"Taylin?" Kogashi looked in his direction. Taylin groaned and coughed.

"What's wrong. Tay-chan?" Kogashi asked while trying to stand up. Taylin looked down at Jatar's unmoving body in her arms. Yosha's eyes widened.

"You're...you're not in your usual form!" Yosha exclaimed. Taylin didn't hear what he said. She placed her hand above Jatar's open wound. Kogashi looked on in amazement.

"Heal." A soft, golden aura surrounded both herself and Jatar. She felt a tap on her shoulder, but didn't bother to look up. She knew who it was.

"You won't be able to save me, Tay. I'm already dead." Jatar's spirit appeared beside her. His presence couldn't be seen by the others.

"You're so wrong..." she said to him in a soft, gentle voice. The golden aura got brighter. Jatar's spirit looked around at the carnage.

"I'm surprised there is actually something left. That blast should have destroyed one hundred city blocks." He then felt a tug at his spirit form.

"REVIVAL!" He was being pulled back into his body.

"Holy shit, it's working! That's new." Jatar's body floats above her then gently floats back to the ground. Yosha and Kogashi looked on in awe. Taylin looks down at the fully healed Jatar. Jatar took a deep breath as his body began to breathe once again. He blinked in confusion and looked up at Taylin.

"J-Jat-kun?" Tears started to swell up in her eyes. Kogashi and Yosha stepped closer, not believing that their fallen friend is alive. He smiled gently, yet tiredly at her.

"I'm called Scar for a reason. Now you know." Jatar laughed lightly. However, no one found the humor in this situation.

"WHY?!" The only word she could think of at the moment. Her emotions, and thoughts, were plaguing her to no end. Jatar sat up from her embrace and lowered his head.

"I...had to. He caught me off guard, and absoloutely destroyed my ribs, and even ruptured my lungs. I was as good as dead." Jatar looked into Taylin's periwinkle eyes, which were overflowing with tears for him. "I even pumped a bleeder spear into it, and it didn't do a thing. So I decided to... keep my honor...and self destruct, taking both me and him back to hell..."

'I understand why he needed to take such a drastic action, but...I could've lost him...' She thought to herself. Her angelic form began to leak back into her death form, as her tears became relentless.

"DON'T EVER LEAVE ME!" Taylin surprised herself at her outburst, but wasn't going to let her speech go unfinished. "Please...Jat-kun...please promise me. Don't ever do that again! I don't want to lose your friendship! I thought you were truly lost..." Her last words were whispered, but loud and clear to her companions. Jatar blinked in confusion, but the look of guilt covered his features.

"...Tay...I was only lost for a moment." he responsed gently.

"Just promise me!" Jatar looked away in shame. Taylin took this gesture as Jatar not being able to keep such a promise. Kogashi looked at Jatar in anger, yet relief, knowing that he was alive, and can settle the score later. Yosha just looked on at the scene, not knowing where this will lead their group.

"Jat-kun, promise me, please--"

"I'm...sorry Tay-chan. It's all my fault." It was Taylin's turn to blink in confusion at Jatar's response.

"...What? No, it's not! Don't say such things! You're not perfect, and I don't expect you to be." Jatar's cerulean eyes became misty as he looked at her through his blonde locks.

"If it weren't for my stupid pride, this wouldn't have happened. You wouldn't be cursed, and we wouldn't have to argue so much." Jatar diverted his gaze back at the forest floor.

"Jat-kun..." Taylin detransformed into her original form. "Look at me, please" she pleaded. Jatar looked at her sadly. "Do I look angry?"

"No, you look sad and scared." He answered softly.

"Exactly. I don't look angry. I'm a bit shaken, but never angry, not at you." Taylin gave him a warm smile, which seems to have slightly lifted the guilt off his shoulders.

"I'll promise you, but only if you promise me not to hide you're problems and fears away from us anymore. Otherwise we cant' help you." Jatar gave her a serious look, but she knew he was serious with or without it.

"Alright, I promise." Jatar embraced her gratefully; the gesture was returned with equal emotion.

"Don't leave." Taylin pulls back slightly and looks at Jatar. "This wouldn't be so bearable without your pride." Jatar smirked at her comment, which received a light giggle in response.

"I won't. Meanie."

Everyone is sitting around the campfire quietly, not knowing what to say. No one is willing to break the silence. Taylin shifts uncomfortably in her place. Kogashi twidles his thumbs slowly while staring at the fire. Yosha just had a thoughtful look on his face as he watched the flames dance about in front of him. Jatar was lost in his own thoughts at the moment.

"Um...shouldn't we, like, talk or something?" Everyone looks at Taylin, but doesn't respond. She looked down in defeat. "I guess that was a dumb idea..." The silence continued for some time, but Taylin got the courage to try again. "It's just that...I wanted us to get along well. I didn't...I didn't want us to become so distant...."

"I'd never let that happen, Tay." Taylin looked at Jatar, who showed much concern on his face due to her statement.

"Just look at us!" The others looked at each other with a stunned look before returning their gaze back to her. "We're all just sitting here...like we're strangers to each other. Now what?"

Jatar shook his head. "I don't know."

"There's nothing much to do..." Yosha kept his gaze on the dancing flames as he answered.

"No..." Kogashi gave the group a stern look.

'What is he up to?' Jatar titls his head in confusion.

"The air needs to be cleared. We need to get things off our chests. Then we will be able to understand each other." Kogashi added.

"For once I agree with dog tur-- err, Kogashi." Yosha managed to correct himself before anyone took notice.

"Hey if I remember correctly you were the one to attack me in the first place." Jatar gave Kogashi a cold look.

Kogashi growled at him in response. "I had every right to!"

"Please stop arguing! All this arguing will get us nowhere..." Her pleas went unnoticed as they continued.

"You better watch it, Kogashi. You got the speed, but I have the strength and technology." Jatar leans back with a confident smirk.

"Whatever." Kogashi turned his gaze back to the fire angrily. Taylin lowered her head. Jatar looked at her worriedly.

"It's not you, Tay. If anything, it's my fault." Taylin looked up at Jatar in surprise and shook her head.

"That's not true. You wouldn't have known whether or not the curse would affect me." She reassured him.

Jatar look to the side in guilt. "I should have." Taylin placed a hand on his shoulder.

"No one's perfect."

"Oh? What do you mean? I've been thinking wrong of myself this whole time?" Taylin knew he was trying to lighten the mood and giggled.

"You too?"

He gave her a smirk. "Guess no one is perfect."

"Jatar?" He turned towards Yosha, who had a serious look on his face.

"Aye?" Yosha looked down in guilt.

"I'm sorry for being so secretive to you. I knew I should have said something to you, but..." Jatar held up his hand.

"It's not a problem. I should have to you guys about the blade earlier. You were just trying to protect a friend, Yosha." Yosha nodded in agreement.

'All of you shouldn't be fighting with each other. You have more in common thank you think...' Taylin thought to herself.

"So...should we get our energies back before we head out again? I don't know about all of you, but I'm wiped." She gave a yawn in emphasis. 'I just hope I can sleep.'

"That sounds like a good idea." Jatar responded. Taylin went over to her sleeping blanket. "A little advice, Tay?" She turned her attention back to Jatar. "If you want to sleep, don't dream." He gave her a knowing smirk. She blinked in confusion. "I know that's what has been keeping you awake at night."

"...yeah it is." Taylin looked down in embarrassment. "I'll try the not dreaming thing."

"Good. You do that." Jatar gave her a warm smile, which was equally returned. Jatar laid down onto his sleeping blanket and went to sleep. Taylin turned to a calmed down Kogashi, who was still sitting by the fire.

"Are you going to sleep, Kogashi?" Kogashi shrugged in response.

"Might as well." Taylin the turned to Yosha.

"What about you Yosha?"

"Don't know. If there's more of those demons that Jatar fought today, then someone should keep watch just in case."

"I see." Taylin gave him a small smile. "Thank you, Yosha." He just nodded in acknowledgement. Taylin covered herself and fell into a restless slumber.

/////////////DREAM SEQUENCE//////////////////

Taylin was dressed in a white robe while wading through the cold darkness. The ground beneath her felt sloshy as she continue to walk in the neverending darkness. She looked below and and was horrified; her breath caught in her throat.

"By Ara..." A sea of crimson came up to her calves, staining her white robe on the bottom. Her breathing became uneven and deep, but the horror wasn't over. In the reflection in the pool she saw the faces of the children she was forced to slaughter. She whimpered in the dream turned nightmare, and in reality.

She tries to back away from the hollow faces, but they seem to follow her, no matter how she moved. Suddenly arms reached out and tugged at her robes, pulling her down into the crimson river. "Please no!" Taylin sleeping body began to flail her arms around. Kogashi blinked in confusion.

The restless spirits begin to pull her down, until only her head is above its eery river. "Please help...me..." As her mouth becomes covered, she begins to choke in her sleep.

"Oh no! TAY!" Kogashi's outburst attracts the attention of everyone else. Jatar bolts up and looks at the flailing, choking form of his close friend. He immediately rushes over, trying to bring her back to reality.

Her head becomes fully submerged as the spirits engulf her in their lake of spilt blood.

//////////////////END DREAM SEQUENCE////////////////////

"Tay-chan!" He tries shaking her, but to no avail. 'Sorry, Tay.' Jatar slaps her across the face, which caused her to take in a gasp of air. She began to cough due to the realness of the dream.

"...ow..." She opened her eyes slowly and saw the worried looks on the faces of her friends.

"I'm sorry, Tay. You were choking in your sleep and you wouldn't wake up." Jatar watched helplessly as she began to sob uncontrollably.

"Why won't they stop?" Her hair covered her face, but the tears were too evident to ignore. "I'm so tired...I want to sleep but...I keep seeing their faces..."

"You don't suppose your dreams are trying to tell you that we didn't kill the real Ukaran, and that they can't rest until we do?" Taylin quickly lifted her head and gave Jatar a teary look of disbelief and shock. "That maybe you have to kill the real him to redeem yourself." Although his explanation was calm and collected, it didn't make the suffering girl feel any better.

"Wh-what?"

"You know that bastard likes to use dopplegangers." Jatar's eyes were filled with fury. Taylin looked off to the side. The look of sadness on her face made her comrades hearts shatter.

"It can't be..." Her voice was barely above a whisper. Any louder, and she would lose what little composure she had left.

"Then why are you haunted by them? I'm sure they don't blame you." Jatar was shocked at the spiteful look she gave him

"Why wouldn't they?"

"Because they probably saw the reasons why you had to do what you were forced to do." He placed a hand on her shoulder in reassurance. "I wouldn't worry about it, Tay. And neither should you. We'll figure this out. I promise." Taylin nodded her head.

"I've....I've been thinking, I believe that Ukaran took on my form, and killed my father..." Taylin tightly shut her eyes in vain to ward off the oncoming tears that she didn't want to shed. "When will it end? When will I be able to rest, Jat-kun? Why do the people closest to me have to suffer too?!" She was almost yelling by the time she finished her outburst. Jatar's response not only spoke for the entire group, but was simple and right to the point.

"Because we want to." She was shocked by the response and was about to retort, but Jatar wasn't finished. "Beacause we want to suffer with you. Because we don't want you to feel the agony of suffering and dying alone, like so many of my own bretheren have..."

"We're too attached to you to let you suffer alone." Kogashi gave her a warm smile.

"Even I'd feel bad." Yosha gave her a smirk, knowing that Taylin knew his words meant so much more. Taylin happily wiped away her tears, now convinced that she truly wasn't alone in this battle.

"I must be lucky, because I couldn't ever ask nor pray for better friends." They each gave her a hug, but she fell asleep due to such emotional exhaustion in Jatar's arms.

'She's finally sleeping. Sweet dreams, Tay.' He gently stroked her hair while she slept. She unknowingly purred in content. Jatar raised an eyebrow, but then shook his head in amusement.

"I'll keep watch." Yosha returned to his place near the fire. Kogashi placed a hand on Jatar's shoulder, which caught his attention.

"Friends?" Kogashi nodded in response.

"Just take care of her." Jatar shook his head in response.

"Nuh uh, you forgot. It's we who will take care of her." Kogashi smirked in response.

"Of course." Jatar gave him a thumbs up, but was startled when Taylin purred again.

'I think Tay is part cat.' He turned to the other two. "Don't stay up too long guys."

"Don't worry, we'll switch shifts." Yosha raised an eyebrow at Kogashi's response, but just shrugged it off. Jatar closed his eyes and went to sleep once again.
