Sunlight began to filter into the forest, softly hitting the sleeping girl's face and causing her to stir. She looked around her surroundings and saw Kogashi still up, while Yosha was sitting in front of the dwindling fire asleep. Kogashi notices stirring coming from them and smirked. Taylin rubbed a sleepy eye.
"Isn't that cute?" Taylin turned towards the voice, and saw Kogashi smirk and titled her head to the side in confusion.
"Huh?"
"You fell asleep in Jatar's arms. How romantic." Kogashi's smirk grew wider. "Look for yourself." Taylin looked up and saw Jatar asleep in a sitting position, with her arms wrapped around his waist. She felt herself blush in embarassment.
"...oh." She slowly sat up nonchalantly, which made Jatar tilt over and fall to his side. She was too embarassed to notice that he slowly opened his sleepy eyes. "I was...asleep? Really asleep?" A smile crept onto her face.
"Yes, you were. You even started purring. Jatar thought you were part cat." Kogashi's comment made her blush even deeper.
"SHUT UP!" She turned away from Kogashi to hide her reddening blush, but to no avail which made Kogashi laugh even more at her embarassment. Taylin calmed herself and looked back to him. "I'm still a bit tired though, but that sleep really did help."
"I bet."
"So, how was your shift? No rabid squirrels?" Taylin mocked. Kogashi chuckled.
"No, not yet." Taylin smirked in response.
"Good, then there's still time to see you get attacked then." She giggled. Kogashi sweatdropped in response. Taylin looked down at what she thought to be a sleeping Jatar.
"Morning Tay." Taylin jumped a bit at the greeting and squealed in fright, making Jatar raise an eyebrow.
"Don't scare me like that!" Taylin clutched at her rapidly beating chest, taking calming breaths to slow its pace.
"I've been awake for a while." Jatar couldn't help but smirk.
"I didn't notice." She gave him a sheepish smile.
"So I see. So what's with the purring?" Jatar noticed her cheeks reddening again.
"Well, that happens sometimes. Not often though..." Jatar sat up and sat next to her, looking at her quizzically.
"Oh?"
Taylin nodded. "I only do that when I feel...safe." Jatar gave her a warm smile.
"And safe you shall stay, Tay." Jatar received a smile from her in response. They both turn towards Yosha, who was snoring in his spot. "He's still sleep?" Jatar looked up at Taylin, who stood up from her spot.
"I'll wake him." She began walking towards the sleeping half dog demon.
"Nicely or evilly?" Jatar had a wide smirk on his face, as well as Kogashi. Taylin turned back and gave them a bored look.
"Nicely." Jatar and Kogashi slumped their heads forward, with crushed hopes and disappointment. She shook her head in amusement and continued towards Yosha. She knelt next to him and shook him gently. "Yosha?" Jatar looked on curiously.
"What is it?" Taylin turned back to him and gave him a sheepish smile.
"He's just hard to wake up, is all."
"I know how to wake him." Jatar had a menacing glint in his eyes. Taylin raised an eyebrow at the all too familiar look. Kogashi grinned from ear to ear, knowing exactly what Jatar was up to. "HEEL!" Yosha's body was thrust to the side violently. Yosha immediately opened his eyes and wondered what the hell was happening.
"JATAR!" Taylin looked back at the pair, who were clutching their sides in laughter. She sent them a death glare, which made them squeak in fear., and immediately stopped. She looked back at Yosha, who was dusting himself off. "You okay?"
"Yeah." He glared at Jatar. "What was that for?!"
"You wouldn't wake up." Jatar and Kogashi began to snicker. Taylin glared at them again, and they got the message immediately.
"Should we pack up our stuff and leave, or eat before we head off?" They all mulled over her question.
"I'm all for eating. Who else is? And no, cookies aren't on the menu, Tay." Jatar smirked.
Taylin rolled her eyes. "Whatever. I'm not all that hungry anyway." She stuck her tongue out at him playfully. They heard a low rumble come from Kogashi's direction, who blushed in embarrassment.
"That makes two." Soon after, another rumble was heard, but this time it came from Yosha's stomach. "And there's the third." Taylin shrugged.
"It's alright with me. I'll just lay down for a bit longer." Jatar nodded in acknowledgement.
"I'll get the food." Jatar transformed and walked off in search of food.
Taylin went over to her own sleeping blanket. "Be careful!" She called after him. She laid down and closed her eyes, but she couldn't help but be worried about her companion. 'Please be careful, Jat-kun.' With that last thought, she drifted off.
Kogashi sat in front of the now extinguished campfire with his legs crossed. "I'll keep watch." Yosha nodded in acknowledgement.
"Sounds good. I guess I'll practice with my sword for a bit." He walked off to an empty spot and began swinging his massive blade in slashing patterns, as if the blade were apart of his body.
Meanwhile, Jatar stalked through the forest silently, on the look out for any sudden movement. His keen hunting eyes scanned the forest for a meal that could feed their group for days. Taylin eyes furrowed as she began to dream. She heard a sinister chuckle, all too familiar to her.
You'll never be rid of me, whore. Taylin saw herself standing in front of a very alive Ukaran. Her eyes went wide in disbelief.
Y-you're supposed to be dead! Ukaran advanced on an immobilized Taylin. He stood toe to toe with her and gave her an evil smirk.
Never...you can't kill me that easily.
Yosha's ears moved, and he caught the scent of something foul approaching their group and immediately began to growl. Kogashi looked at him in curiosity, but sniffed the air and knew the cause of his friend's tenseness. Taylin began to stir in her sleep while they were preoccupied with the oncoming threat.
Jatar heard a twig snapped and quickly shot off his shoulder cannon, hitting a deer head on. Suddenly, a chill ran down his spine and knew something wasn't right. "Ukaran..." He picked up the deer and headed back to their camp. 'I gotta get back, FAST!'
Ukaran grabbed Taylin by the neck, which caused her to start choking in her sleep. In the dream turned nightmare, she tried desperately to loosen the grip around her neck. I'll kill all your friends...and make you watch.
"Damnit to hell..." Yosha scanned around their camp, awaiting for their enemy to come out of hiding.
"Just perfect." Kogashi gritted out. He stood and tried to sense where Ukaran would strike, but to no avail. "Damnit. His scent is everywhere."
'I swear, you bastard...if you so much as touch one hair on her I'll kill you with my bare hands.' Jatar's thoughts ran rampant as her dashed through the forest, seeing their campsite ahead.
Taylin began to flail her hands around, trying to shake off her attacker, which caught the attention of Kogashi. He ran over to her and saw her face covered in torment and fear. "Ja--" Her voice was cut off due to her lack of air. Kogashi began to shake her awake.
"Wake up!" At that moment Jatar dashed in, deposited the lunch from off his shoulders, and readied himself, in a matter of seconds, looking around frantically.
"WHERE ARE YOU, YOU BASTARD?!" Yosha turned to their newly arrived companion.
"How did you kno--"
"I don't know, but somehow I could sense that Tay was in trouble." All eyes turned to said person as she bolted awake, taking in a huge gasp of air.
"NO!" Taylin began panting, her forehead glistening with sweat. Her face changed from fear, to sadness and let a few tears slide down her cheeks. Jatar kneeled next to her and wiped away a few renegade tears. "He...he's..."
"What is it, Tay? He's what?" He looked at her with concern, although not seen behind his mask.
"He's...not dead...he's..." Her eyes turned to an unnatural black color, and her voice turned inhuman. "He's here." Her once saddened face turned harsh and unforgiving. She stood from her spot, followed by Jatar.
"Where?"
"Close." A black aura shrouded her figure and she transformed into her second form. Her enourmous glimmering scythe appeared in her hands. Jatar narrowed his eyes at the new information.
"Fine. This time I'll make sure he's dead." A red aura comsumed his already transformed state, which seemed to grow bigger by the second. Both Kogashi and Yosha looked on in amazement as Jatar was now in his balrog form. Taylin let her scythe levitate in front of her.
"Transform, my weapon of death." The scythe transformed into a black, swiveled sword. She let a small smile grace her features at her new weapon. "My beautiful...Grimblade." She let out a sinister chuckle. The two dog demons backed away in fear of their powerful allies.
"BALROG'S SECRET WEAPON...HELL WHIP!" A huge whip, burning with the flames of hell, appeared in his hands. He began cracking it around, laughing at the flames it flicks out with each crack. "BRING IT UKARAN! This time you'll know what hell truly is!"
Taylin licked her blade. "You shall serve me well in bringing Ukaran pain." Her small smile turned evil.
"...I feel safe..." Kogashi stated. Yosha simply blinked and nodded dumbly.
"Yeah..."
Taylin extends her black wings in warning. "He approches." The flames around Jatar roared in preparation. Taylin turned to her right casually, while the others followed her gaze.
"So, it's you, or are you still hiding like a coward behind your puppets?" Jatar gritted out, readying his whip. Kogashi and Yosha went into fighting stances.
Ukaran simply chuckled. "I have no need to fear you, foolish mortals." He gave the group a sinister smirk, making them all the more ready to pounce on him. Jatar gave Ukaran one of his own chuckles.
"Just like you said the last time, right? And we still kicked your ass!" Taylin stood between her friends and Ukaran, and lifted her grimblade level with her shoulders. She gave him a menacing glare that could have killed him in a instant if she had that ability.
"This ends now; and I shall be the one to end it." Ukaran raised his eyebrows mockingly at her. Yosha looked at her, puzzled as to why she would want to take him on by herself. Kogashi relaxed his tense muscles after hearing what she planned to do.
Jatar backed away from her so she could have more fighting space if needed. "Let me know if you need help."
"Little whore, you still stand?" Taylin narrowed her eyes, and she coulde actually feel Jatar growling with hatred.
"FUCK YOU, UKARAN! YOU'RE THE WHORE!" The intense flames flickered and roared around him, causing Kogashi and Yosha to jump back before they were licked by them.
Taylin lowered her blade, making it touch the ground. The ground began to rumble upon contact. "I kneel to no one." The rumbling grew more intense and began to crack. She let out a maniacal laugh. "PREPARE YOURSELF, UKARAN!"
Jatar's eyes widened at the depth of her laughter. It was so rich that it gave him shivers down his spine. "T-Tay..." Jatar wasn't the only person awestruck by her display of power.
"WHAT?!" Ukaran widened his eyes in fear, most likely the only time he would feel true fear. The ground tore open and a gaping whole was left, which released an unearthly roar from its depths.
"YOU DIE TODAY UKARAN!" 'And if you manage to survive, we'll follow you until the end of time.' Jatar thought, as he watched the tip of her dragon's nose peek through the opening.
Taylin had a maniacal smile on her face. "ARISE MY GREAT BEAST!"
"What magic--" Ukaran's statement was cut off by Jatar, who couldn't be happier about this entire situation.
"This is Tay's fury of you..." The fiery red dragon burst through, creating an even bigger hole in its wake. "HELL WHIP!" Jatar immobilized Ukaran, thus sealing his fate.
"Behold! My dragon of the seventh layer!" Kogashi gulped loudly as he looked up at the massive creature.
"By the gods..." Yosha's jaw hung, leaving his mouth gaping. Jatar looked at the blade curiosly.
'That's not the sword I gave her...' His attention shifted elsewhere, as he felt Ukaran struggle with his hell whip, trying to break free. "Try all you like, Ukaran. It will be in vain. You can't escape the grip of hell!" Jatar gave out a maniacal laugh at Ukaran's struggling. The rest of the group watched as Taylin's hell dragon blocked out the sun, creating a massive eclipse.
"STUPID...BITCH!" Ukaran continued to struggle out of the flickering flames of the whip. Taylin narrowed her eyes at him.
"Name calling isn't necessary to quicken your death, Ukaran."
"That will only intensify her hatred of you!" Jatar added. Taylin looked up at her dragon, who was circling above them.
"NOW MY DRAGON! DEVOUR HIM AND FEAST UPON HIS FLESH! AND LEAVE HIS SKULL FOR JAT-KUN!" Taylin winked at him.
"You're too kind, Tay."
The hell dragon landed by Ukaran, a hungry glint in his eye. Ukaran's eyes widened beyon comprehension and froze immediately when he felt the intensely hot breath of the beast. "NO! THIS CANNOT BE--" He let out a gurgled scream as the dragon bit off a chunk of his side. Taylin had a creepy smile on her face.
"Enjoy, my pet." The others watched as the dragon began to munch on Ukaran, hearing crunching sounds emerge from the jaws of the beast. Yosha winced at each crunch he heard, while Kogashi became visibly ill.
"You'd better pray that you're a puppet, otherwise I'll see you in hell!" Jatar detransformed into his original state of unruly blonde locks. The dragon spit out a perfectly intact skull at Jatar's feet. He gasped and went dreamy eyed. "WOW! That's one nice skull!"
Taylin holds out her hand. "Come my pet." The dragon makes its way over to its mistress, nuzzling her hand for a job well done. "You've done well, now return until your mistress needs you again." A hole appeared behind the dragon where it disappeared into. Taylin looks over at the two dog demons. "You two okay? You look a bit pale."
Yosha shook his head clear and gave her a nervous look. "Y-yeah. Fine." Kogashi went wide eyed, despite his earlier feelings.
"That...was sweet!" Taylin chuckled in repsonse. Jatar simply smirked.
"Glad you enjoyed it."
Taylin looked at her grimblade and tossed it into the air. "REVERT!" As the blade spun around, it began to take on its previous shape and she caught it with ease.
"So what do we do now?" Everyone turned towards Jatar.
"Well, you three haven't eaten yet. You can do that, then we'll head off." The rest of them nodded at her suggestion.
"Well, the deer is still warm. My cannon cooked it pretty well." Jatar scratched the back of his head sheepishly.
"Great! Less time to waste!" Kogashi was the first to head towards their lunch, while the others followed his lead, leaving Taylin to sit beside Jatar and began to think.
'So he's finally dead...' A small smile crept onto her face. Jatar looked at her knowingly.
"The nightmares should stop now." Taylin looked at him in surprise. "I know that's what has been keeping you up at night. Now that he is dead, the nightmares should stop." He explained.
"Maybe..." Taylin looked down at her hands.
"Luckily you didn't use the Tazthow blade. If the blade corrupted you, then it would be unbearable..." Taylin looked at him and gave him a warm smile. Kogashi continued eating as if nothing was going on, which made Yosha raise an eyebrow.
"You really were hungry, huh Kogashi?" Kogashi looked up in surprise and blinked, which made Yosha sweatdrop. "I rest my case." Jatar shook his head in disbelief and continued eating. Taylin stood from her spot and flickered out of site, startling the others.
"Huh?" Jatar exclaimed. She suddenly appeared behind him and detransformed. She sat down and leaned onto his back. Jatar raised an eyebrow in confusion and looked behind him.
"Sleepy..." She relaxed against him and fell asleep.
'She's asleep!' Jatar smiled warmly at her. 'She deserves it though. Have pleasant dreams, Tay...'
