Chapter 1: The Plan
She loved the moon. Something about how it went through its cycles every month only to end up to be full again. To her the worst day of the month was the night of the New Moon when the moon's glow disappeared from the night. Tonight was the night when the moon was only half full. She stood atop a cliff, in the midst of the night, with her navy blue skirt slightly ruffling in the breeze. Her hand pushed her slivery hair behind her pointed ears as they picked up familar footsteps coming from behind her.
"Ya know, I can hear you, Chariku." She said with a slight smile on as she turned away from the moon to her friend as he emerged from the bushes.
"Darn you and your hearing, Mioko!" Chariku walked away from the edge of the forest that ended before the rise of the top of the cliff. His emerald eyes glanced up at the moon and then back at Mioko. "Moon gazing, again?"
"Of course. What else would I be doing up here? Hiding from my sister?" She smirked as Chariku looked to the ground and shuffled his feet slightly.
"You would hide from her, too, if she was your sister! I swear, the only reason she was put on this planet is to make my life miserable!" He returned his gaze to the half full moon that was behind Mioko. "So, what do you think is happening in the valley below?"
She walked over to the very edge of the cliff and sat down, dangling her feet over the edge. Mioko's amber eyes moved from the moon to the small town in the valley below. "Probably preparing for the Harvest Festival."
"Ahhh, the Harvest Festival. We need to finish our project before then, right?"
"If we ever hope to accomplish our goal here. We need to have everything set before they finish all their preparations for the festival. Where is your sister anyway?"
"Not sure. Hopefully not anywhere near here...." That hope was shattered in mere seconds as they heard a yell resound through the forest.
"CHARIKU!!! Get your ass over here before I have to find you! You left your labtop out, your rooms a mess, and I'm tired of having to clean up your messes!"
Chariku visibly flinched as Mioko bit back a chuckle. Chariku sighed and began to walk towards the forest. He called back to Mioko as he reached the edge. "I'll met you here tomorrow at noon so we can complete our plan!" Chariku's form soon disappeared into the dark green foliage of the forest.
A cool night breezed passed by Mioko as she continued to watch the moon, her thoughts were racing through her head with the adreline rush that came with the thought of completing their plan. She had been waiting for so long to pull off something like this, and she finally had her chance. Not anyone in the town below could do anything to stop them. Mioko went over the plan several times in her head. Rig the lights and all electronics in the town so they could control when they went off, make sure they had all nessecary gear and had set up all kinds of traps for anyone who might try to stop them.
The plan was pretty simple. With the lights and electronics rigged they could shut them off during the Harvest Festival. Most of the residence in the town would be in the town square celevrating the harvest. All they needed was to find one building that all rumors seemed to circle around. Her and Chariku had been following all kinds of rumors trying to find what they had been looking for. All the rumors so far had proved false, but unlike most of the others this one seemed promising.
In the middle of the town was a town square used for venders and for most festivals. The Harvest Festival was no exception. During the afternoon the residence of the small town would go to the lake where a shrine, for the deity that they depended on for the harvest, was on the small island in the middle of the lake to pay tribute. After that they would go back to down to drink Sake, dance, and other festival activities. All they needed to do was to distract the town people long enough so they wouldn't go to the shrine at the lake to find out if the rumors proved true or false.
Mioko smiled as she stood up and walked away from the cliff. "I seriously hope this rumor doesn't prove false like the others." With that Mioko walked off through the forest that Chariku had gone through not to long ago.
