We had done it; our journey was finally completed and the war was now over with. The battle was extensive and bitter, but now the warmth of the sacred jewel lay clutched in my hands as I stood over the battlefield. Our test was over, the adventure now seeming only like a dream that consumed reality its self. Many things were lost; as well as many things were gained. Tears were shed of both melancholy and happiness. My eyes scanned blankly over the torn field as I kneeled down and held the precious stone next to my heart. Nothing was here for me, except the tattered remains of my most treasured friends and an outline of my beloved's most hated rival standing before me in torn and bloodied clothes. His gaze seemed to soak up the battlefield as he stopped to look over my most loved fallen companion. For once in my time in the past, I saw his eyes fill with regret, as he stood motionless in the wind. I tried to stand up, but my body gave into the agonizing pain. I groaned and propped my self up as he looked to me in pity as I limped to his side.
" Please, Christina, sit down and rest until Joseph gets back with a healer," I heard his calm voice command me gently. A light breeze blew through the atmosphere as I watched his silky silver hair carry in the air. I shook my head slightly as I stood by him and watched the sun rise in the east over the trees. The wind was chilly as I hugged myself and tried to stand strong. But, to my surprise, I was overcome with warmth as the Princes arms wrapped around me and pulled me closer to him. I snuggled into my very last friends' embrace for some time awaiting Joseph's arrival. I knew that my time was coming to an end and there was no one to save me from the authority of death. Or better yet, the electric. This role-playing game seemed so real, but I didn't have enough money to stay. They were closing down the arcade, and I will never be here again.
Dizziness surpassed me as I felt myself fall into my friend's arms. He held me close, keeping me warm and safe from whatever harm was left to come to pass. I took a deep breath before I felt my heart pump faster and fought to talk to him before it was too late.
" Rhys... I have to go now. I'm too tired from this search of mine," I felt his grasp tightened his hold on me. " You are not going anywhere, Christina. You will stay here with me." I gazed into his golden brown orbs silently. " I can't, Rhys. I'm not...strong enough. I have lived out my purpose of being here." I took the jewel and held it out for him to take. " Please, find me in real life.... I'll wait for you..." I slowly closed my eyes as I felt the warmth disappear from my body. It felt like centuries when I finally opened my eyes to find myself in the double shut doors of the arcade machine I loved so much. After years of playing with my friends and him, it'll never be the same.
I had awakened to reality once again, but I felt more complete now than I had before. No more tears could pour down face. He would come back to me in time.
