Fan Fiction ❯ Moonlit Confessions ❯ Doggy Found, Doggy Lost ( Chapter 3 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Once they reached Kaneko's home Rii stood at the foot of her gate, waiting for her to go through it. It was late by then and her whole house was dark. Obviously her parents weren't coming home again, so Kaneko would be spending the rest of the night alone. However, this was normal for her and she didn't think to much about it.

"Well, I guess I will see you another day." Said Kaneko groggily. She was sleepy and it was almost eleven by then.

"Sure, I guess I will. Do you want me to walk you to your door?" asked Rii with no trace of sleepiness in his voice.

"I don't mind, but I don't need you to.." replied Kaneko. She didn't really want him walking her to her door for fear he might want in. not only was he a stranger, but she wanted to sleep!

"Fine. I will walk you to your door, it seems slightly dark in there." Commented Rii as he opened the gate and led Kaneko to her door. All Kaneko could think Kaneko was, `how did this happen and why wont he leave me alone…I wanna go to beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!!'

"Thanks, I mean thank you. And have a good night." Remarked Kaneko once she opened the door.

"Your welcome. I take it you go to Hanazakari High. So I guess I shall see you in the morning tomorrow. Have a nice night…" and with that Rii left, walking back down her sidewalk and out her gate with his hands in his pockets.

After Rii's disturbing comment of seeing her tomorrow Kaneko walked inside the house looking for the stray. "Rii-san..where are you boy?" cooed Kaneko. She was slightly sad that her stray had the same name as that stranger, but it couldn't be helped. "Rii!" cried Kaneko once she realized the stray wasn't in her living room, kitchen, or bedroom.

"Kaneko Mitsukai! What are you yelling about?" asked a lady from atop the stairs that led to Kaneko's room. It was her mother! She wore a curlers in her hair and a face mask that made her look like a frog. Around her she clenched a robe and underneath it was her favorite red nightgown.

"Mother?!" murmured Kaneko in shock. "YOU DIDN"T THROW HIM OUT DID YOU MOTHER!?" cried Kaneko in horror.

"Who is he?" asked her mother, her sounding voice extremely annoyed.

"The dog! Mother, the dog!" Replied Kaneko with her hope fading.

"the mutt! Oh, yes, I threw him out. He was such an ugly looking dog. If you insist on having a pet why don't you get a fish?" remarked her mother rudely with a wave of her hand. "Oh, I am going back to bed, please try and be silent would you?"

"Yes, mother…" gritted Kaneko. She had thrown out her dog! Well, it wasn't her dog, but still! She was housing it. So, Kaneko decided to out to look for the stray. She just had to! It was to scrawny to go walking around this time of night!

"Rii! Rii! Where did you go boy? Where did they put you?" yelled Kaneko as she walked through the bushes that surrounded her house, but it was to no avail. "Darnit! The only time I take a dog home and don't want my parents, they come and ruin it."

"What are you doing? Why did you call me so loudly?" asked the stranger Rii. Not the person Kaneko wanted to see.

"-ah! Sorry! I was looking for my do-, I mean a stray dog I took in and I can't find it! My stupid parents kicked it out!" explained Kaneko, sadly realizing that she would have more luck finding this stranger Rii on a deserted island than she would finding the dog Rii.

"oh,…did you like that dog?" asked Rii oddly. It was obvious that she did, it was like a little friend to her.

"Yes! That's why I am looking for it! It was hurt and sick looking so I was going to take it to the vet and get it checked tomorrow." Answered Kaneko.

"Then I should come back to you." Remarked Rii. "You left your fish back in the Ferris wheel and I forgot to give it back to you." Stated Rii as he held out the back with the single golden fish in it, which he caught.

"Oh, thanks." Thanked Kaneko as she took the bag and held it in her hands. "Well, I bet you have to go so good night again."

"You still gonna look for it?" asked Rii slightly astonished.

"yes! I told you that it didn't look like it would last out here." Replied Kaneko, worry started to get to her even more so.

"Well, then I must hurry. Good Night." Remarked Rii as he walked past her down the sidewalk.

"He is odd…" murmured Kaneko. Suddenly a slight flash caught Kaneko's eyes and she looked to the way that the flash came from, which was the same place that Rii had been walking past a few minutes ago. And from that direction came a brown puff ball. "RII!!!" cried Kaneko as she ran towards the dog and picked it up. "oh I am so glad that you are okay! I thought you were hurt out here. I wont let my mom throw you out again! And next time I go to the festival I will take you with me!"

"ruff!" barked the dog as he sat down right in front of Kaneko.

"KAWAII!" cried Kaneko as she hugged the cute dog. It was really late by then and Kaneko was even sleepier than normal. But she was happy that she found the dog and was given a fish. It really made her night. And to make it better Yoi had gone off with Mihana, which was the right person for him. So for today, Kaneko was happier than she would've been if she never stopped to pick up this dog, Rii…
