"In World news today Russia is in chaos with massive riots in St. Petersburg and Moscow. Mexico's air pollution is getting worse, 10 new born baby's die every day because of the bad air they are forced to breath in. West Germany deals with food and labor riots, no work presents a problem for most lower class families to get food and they are starving U.S. aid is doing little good their. Cuba's economy is reaching an all time high because with all the problems in the world more and more people turn to drugs. And worst of all NATO dissolves the respectable country's fighting amongst themselves. The United States of America truly stands alone!" The news reporter James Freeman said as he reported on every thing going on around the world but after his last statement every one just tuned him out.
"The United States of America truly stands alone!" an 18 year- old student of West Jefferson High School in eastern Tennessee said. His name is Kevin Dale Jackson. He looked over to his parents with his beautiful violet eyes his short jet-black hair falling into his eyes a little.
"Don't let it bother you Kevin. The news always exaggerates you know that." His mother a fairly tanned woman around her late 30's said as she smiled to her son.
"Yes mother. I better be off for school." Kevin said as he walked into the main hall of his house and picked up his key's which he had left on the table with his jacket.
"Don't forget to put your coat on son it's rather chilly out side this morning." His father a well dress businessman said as he read the morning paper.
"Yes father." Kevin said as he put his jacket on and grabbed his backpack and left the house heading for his brand new red Corvette, which his father had bought him for his last birthday.
A young woman was all ready standing at his car with her sandy brown hair hanging over her shoulders slightly with her bangs falling into her beautiful blue eyes as she smiled at Kevin. Her name is Alexis
Andromeda Darnell but every one just calls her Alex. "Good morning Arthur. Can I ride with you, my mother needs my car hers is in the shop." The young woman said as she watched him.
"Sure, no prob. Alex." Kevin said and smiled as he walked over and opened the passenger door for her.
"Thanks Kevin." Alex said as she smiled up at him as she sat down in his car on the passenger side.
Kevin went around and got in on the driver side and threw his backpack in the back then started the car. "What's wrong with your mothers car?" he asked as he backed out of the driveway ignoring his parent's yells from the front door. He turned the radio up so loud his parent's could hear it.
"Oh the transmission went out on it. So she commandeered my Mustang." Alex said and laughed as she watched Kevin play around with his radio to turn it back down.
"So did you hear the news this morning?" Kevin asked as he stopped at a red light and looked over to Alex seriously.
"Yeah. United States truly stands alone. That's scary but mom said not to worry about it." Alex said as she glanced over to Kevin and smiled lightly.
"That's what my parents said too. I guess they know better then us." Kevin said and smiled as he leaned over and kissed Alex lightly on the lips.
"Now that we're out of sight of our parents." Kevin said and playfully smiled.
"I know what you mean." Alex said, as she kissed Kevin then smiled "The lights green." She said as she placed a hand on his leg.
"Don't see why our parents can't agree to us dating." Kevin said as he took off from the red light and smiled over to Alex. "I'm going to catch hell for giving you a ride."
"I know I'm sorry. It's something you're grandparent's did to mine then mine got back with them so I guess you could call it a modern day business feud." Alex said as she smiled over at Kevin.
"Well that modern day feud ends with our generation." Kevin said as he leaned over and kissed Alex again on the lips.
"Yes there's nothing they can say about us in a few weeks anyway. I turn 18 next month." Alex said and laughed a little.
"Oh shit!" Kevin said slamming on his brakes as a car pulled out in front of him then bowed up and stopped.
A 17 year-old boy got out of his black mustang and laughed at Kevin then noticed Alex. "Sup Alex, Kevin." The boy said and laughed some more. His short spiky black hair moving a little because of the wind and his brown eyes sparkling with enjoyment.
"Darrel James Aldrich…" Alex said as she shook her head and sighed. "That boy is just dumb I think some times." She said and smiled over to Kevin.
"Some times…" Kevin said and shook his head. Then pulled out around Darrel as Alex rolled down her window.
"You have a death wish don't you Darrel?" Alex asked once they stopped beside Darrel.
"Of course not. I know Kevin will stop that's why I do that." Darrel said and laughed as he got back into his car.
"He so stupid. One day I'm not going to be able to stop." Kevin said as took off again pulling in front of Darrel and smiled as he looked in his rearview mirror.
"Here we go again." Alex said as she looked back over her shoulder at Darrel trying to pass them and laughed.
"He seems to be having trouble keeping up." Kevin said as he started to pull a head of Darrel.
"He's probably going to Jasmine's house." Alex said as she saw him turn off on to another road. "Yeah he's going to get Jasmine or just follow her to school." She said and laughed as she turned back to look at Kevin.
"He's insane I think." Kevin said and laughed lightly as he looked over to Alex and smiled at her.
"We're a regular Romeo and Juliet." Alex said as she leaned over and kissed Arthur lightly on the lips.
"I know what you mean." Kevin said as he pulled into the parking lot of the West Jefferson High School and smiled over at her as he parked his car in it's normal place. They didn't have assigned parking places he just parked in the same place all the time so he remembered where he parked.
"I can't wait until next month." Alex said then smiled as she leaned over and laid her head on his lap after he slid his seat back.
"I know baby but don't let on like you're to anxious." Kevin said as he smiled down at Alex and caressed her cheek. Then kissed her forehead. "We don't need our parent's to figure out yet." He whispered as he moved her bangs out of her face.
"I know. Did you ever put your bank account in your name only?" Alex asked as she looked up at him running her fingers through his hair at his ear.
"No." Kevin said and looked away from Alex out the window.
"What? Why not? You promised you would Kevin." Alex said as she leaned up on her elbows and looked at him sadly.
"I didn't put it in my name only." Kevin said as he looked back at Alex and smiled down at her.
"Did you set up the account?" Alex asked as she looked at him slightly confused.
"I put it in Kevin and Alexis Jackson." Kevin said and smiled down at her then laughed a little.
"Oh baby you did." Alex said happily throwing her arms around his neck. "I can't believe you went a head and put my name on it." She said hugging him close.
"I wanted to make it a surprise. But I think this is surprise enough." Kevin said as he wrapped his arms around Alex and hugged her smiling. "I'll never promise something and not do it Alex." He whispered in her ear as he hugged her.
"Oh you do better then what you promise." Alex said and laughed lightly.
"Come on now Romeo and Juliet. Schools about to start!" a young girl around 17 years of age with long red hair tied back in a bun with bright green eyes as she knocked on the window of Kevin's car. Her name is Jasmine Marie Benedict.
"Oh Jasmine…" Alex said as she looked towards the driver window.
"Yeah come on. Don't need no more tardy's because of you two love birdies." Darrel said as he wrapped his arm around Jasmine's waist and smiled.
"Come on let's go in before those two have a heart attack." Kevin said then kissed Alex lightly on the lips.
"Yeah don't want to have two friends in the hospital." Alex said and laughed as she sat up and got out of the passenger side.
"Come on let's go." Kevin said as he locked his car and shut the door letting Alex walk around to him.
"Yeah don't want to be late for class again do we." Alex said and smirked over to Darrel as Kevin wrapped his arm around her waist.
"Oh leave me alone Alex." Darrel said as he glared at Alex for a second.
"Boy got a death wish or something when he's driving." Kevin said as he looked over at Darrel and Jasmine.
"Yeah boy pulls out in front of speeding cars and just stops." Alex said also looking over at Darrel and Jasmine.
"DARREL! You promised you'd be safe when you are driving." Jasmine said slapping Darrel's arm angrily.
"I am being safe baby. I only do that to Kevin…" Darrel said whining as he glared over at Kevin and Alex.
"Stop being such a hot rod driver with your car Darrel. You promised." Jasmine said in an angry tone.
"All right, all right baby I won't do it again." Darrel said as he held on to her hand so she couldn't slap him again.
"You will tell me if he does it again won't you Kevin, Alex?" Jasmine asked as she looked over to her two friends.
"Absolutely." Alex said and smiled over to Jasmine.
"Of course Jasmine." Kevin said and laughed a little at the look on Darrel's face.
"All right, all right every one settle down and take you're seats. As I see again our Romeo and Juliet of the school plus their two friends are last in the class room again." Their first period teacher Coach Jones said as he watched the four enter the classroom.
"At least we're not tardy again." Alex said and smiled up at the coach as they took their seats.
