Stop Pretending

 

Don't close your eyes

Try to block it all out
Push it away
Into the depths of your mind
Keep it all in your heart

Not a word to another soul

It's just a different form

Of emotional suicide

You can't bear it all alone

You've got not yourself to blame

It's not your fault

And it's not only your pain

She may not leave a bruise

Or a bloodied lip

But she's hurting you

The kind that never goes away

It resides with you every where

The scars deep inside your body
Are the ones that will never fade

You wish

That it was nothing deeper

But then again

All you are

Is someone to cease pain for others

An old and ragged doll

Lugged around

Merely to clutch onto

When fears strike a heart

And tossed

When life is shown

Don't let yourself

Become one of the unknown

I don't see what I want

To see

I see what

You don't want to see

Don't be afraid

She's only trying to understand
Why you
Are what she
