We were running in the field, white dress,

White scarf. Blonde and blonde,

Dancing in the red poppies, white shoes,

Bright blue glass eyes,

Pretty,

Beautiful in my white,

Butterfly floating by, wearing his red suit,

White dandelion seeds floating by, white clouds into the sky,

In the grass, playing laughing,

Blonde and Blonde, bright blue glass eyes,

White skin like porcelain dolls,

Pretty in white,

You saw someone; saw him in your eyes,

Stood up, so fragrant in white,

Told me to wait, white shoes walking away,

Hair blonde, hair blonde again,

White dress like wings,

He wore black,

Black, all black,

He was cross, shouting things I didn't hear,

Not white, pretty white like you and me,

Then a bang…

You fell like snow in your white,

He walked off, like a bull in black,

He made strange noises,

Like he was crying,

I ran, kept running, White shoes on white socks,

Past the red poppies,

Past the white dandelion seeds,

To your white side…

Your dress went red…

Your eyes were dull blue shattered glass,

You didn't laugh at me anymore,

"Mummy? Why is your dress red?"

You didn't answer.
