4 weeks later....

Alex was about to pass out from sheer exhaustion. The ground he was standing on was giving way to the tremendous amount of energy being released from his body. Alex’s angel wings were shining brightly in as the sun began to set. His shirt was laying on the ground next to him and the tatoo’s on his arms were glowing brightly also. Alex was exerting all his energy into gaining control over his dark energy but so far it was to no avail. He had gained partial control over it, but now he was too weak to go any farther. Demon’s regularly attacked him and tonight was no exception. Even as Alex was battling inwardly demon’s were beginning to surround him. Suddenly two demon’s behind him launched themselves towards him. At that second his wing’s disappeared. His hair grew longer, his ears became pointed, his hands turned to talons, and the tatoo’s on his arms glowed with even more power. In a flash the two demon’s attacking him were vaporized by stray energy flowing from his body. Alex was no longer there standing in his place was a demon! The remaining twenty demon’s didn’t stand a chance. In a few seconds nothing was left of them, but even their defeat couldn’t subdue his need for destruction. Alex gave way to his dark side and lost all rationality. The only thought on his mind was destruction.

This became a regular routine for Alex. Every day after training he would subconsciously succumb to the darkness inside of him. It became so bad that he was afraid of going to sleep incase he were to ever start attacking innocent people. This continued for seven months. Even though during that time he had gained a great deal of experience in controlling his dark side, he still couldn’t control it one hundred percent.

Alex didn’t know where he was, all he knew was that he smelled blood. It was then that he noticed the rivers of blood that poured past his feet. He looked up to see what caused this, and what he saw sent shivers through his spine. There laying before him were the broken and bleeding bodies of the friends he had left. Amongst the destruction stood a fear covered in the blood of the fallen. His back was towards Alex, his body covered by a black cloak.
“Death! I’ll kill you, I swear to God I’ll rip you limb from limb” was all Alex could manage as his emotions got the better of him. He charged at Death, but his attacks were to no avail. He couldn’t land a single blow upon his most hated enemy. He was however successful in removing the cloak. As the cloak his the ground Alex stopped dead in his tracks. For he wasn’t starring into the face of Death...the face peering back at him...was his own, blood dripping off of his own sword of Heaven. Alex was taken aback, he wasn’t fighting Death, he wasn’t even fighting his doppleganger, the person he was fighting was himself. Two long dormant emotions, that Alex had tried to suppress re awoke as he starred into his own eyes, he felt anger and fear. In those eyes he saw deep pain, rage, and sorrow. It was then that Alex first noticed the pain, the sword that had slain all his comrades was now pierced through his chest! Alex could barely breath from the pain. It was then that his alter ego jumped back and stood before him. Alex noticed a single tear run down his eyes as he began to charge up an energy attack. There was a tremendous flash of light, then everything went black.

Alex awoke with a start as he tried to get his breathing under control.

*It’s just a nightmare. Nothing more. The same one I’ve been having ever since I left. What does it mean? Why must every night I my friends get killed. Yet, this time it felt so real, I can actually feel the pain of the sword. But most of all, this was the first time I was able to see the killer. I always assumed it was Death, but now I find out it was me. I know that if I don’t control my dark side I will hurt my friends, but I have a feeling Death is close. I have to return or something bad will happen. I’ve got to make sure there okay.* Alex thought, with that he launched himself off of the canyon he had resided in, crumbling the rock formation with his raw energy. He flew as fast as he could, his destination the place he had called home for so long. The place that he abandoned for even longer. With every second that passed the worry and dread in his heart increased. As if some impending doom was upon them that only he could stop.

*Maybe it’s Death. Maybe he attacked them while I was gone, if only I’d stayed. But, if I had, then I probably would have been more trouble than I was worth. I wonder how they’ve faired against their dopplegangers. I swear to God, if Death has brought harm to them, no force from Heaven or Hell could keep me from him.* with that last thought he energized himself as his wings appeared his speed increased tremendously.

“I hope you guys are ready for me, cause I’m coming home”

At home things hadn’t been going well. Times had been hard for the rest of the team. They had been under constant Demon attacks and had been dealt crippling blows by their Dopplegangers.

Sasuka was the first one to fight his doppleganger. Both of them had been evenly matched in the beginning neither gaining a serious advantage. Sasuka deflected energized cards with a wind shield. As soon as he lowered his shield however, his shoulder was sliced open by his foes circular blades. Sasuka managed to dodge his opponents blades of wind. Sasuka back flipped and launched one of his circular blades at his doppleganger. The blade whizzed past its intended targets head as it was pushed away by a gust of wind. The doppleganger used this to his advantage as he launched himself forward ready for his final attack. It was then that he was caught by an explosion from an energized card, aimed from behind him. The doppleganger flipped around an put up a wind shield just int ime to spare him from the force of several more exploding cards, that he noticed were being launched from the spinning motion of the circular blade Sasuka had launched. Sasuka had attached several energized cards to his blade, he then controlled the blade and cards with his powers. The demon was trapped between an angry Sasuka and being pummeled by exploding cards. Before the demon could evade Sasuka was upon him. With his one remaining blade he slashed the Demon in the pattern of a cross with his energized blade, for a moment the cross glowed brightly on the Demon, then he fell into four pieces.

“Nothing stands for long after feeling the effects of my Holy Cross.” Sasuka smirked.

The next one to fight was Michael. Michael had been severely wounded by his opponents Dragon Fist, and was low on energy. His doppleganger shot spikes from the earth underneath Michael. Michael jumped into the air and then ricocheted off the cave wall. He came down with a flaming blade aimed for his opponents head. The demon was barely able to throw up a shield before he was thrown back from the devastating force of the attack. The Demon launched Blades of Flames at Michael who deflected them with his sword. Michael then launched a Solar Flare to blind his enemy.
* That will only lost a second, but that’s all the time I need.* Michael thought.

Metal chains came from the walls and ground of the cave ensnaring the demon. Before the Demon could break free. Michael was upon him. Michael crossed his arms and gathered his energy quickly. He then sliced the Demon in half with his flaming sword. Lava erupted from each side of the Demon leaving nothing but ashes.
“Let’s see you rise from my Flame of the Phoenix attack” Michael said.

Next to battle was Ashley. Ashley was being driven back by her demented doppleganger. In the darkness of the cave they were fighting in she couldn’t see her opponents attacks. Ashley’s thigh was bleeding from the wound she had received in the beginning of the battle. While moving backwards Ashley tripped over a rock, it was then that she saw the energized blade of her opponents slicing through the air where her head had just been. Ashley flipped up and countered her opponents attack. Ashley then launched her Sonic Twister, which sent sonic blades in every direction, the doppleganger launched himself from the top of the cave in an attempt to bring the fight to a quick end. Ashley had already predicted this and launched a fire ball at the free falling demon. The demon was hit full blast by the fireball and sent her flying into the cave wall.

“H-how did you acquire the power over fire.” the demon asked.

“I had to die for it, you wanna try” Ashley smirked a ring of fire encircled the demon.

“Ring of Death” Ashley shouted as flames shot forth from the ring incinerating the demon.

Ryku was the next to encounter his alter ego. Like their first encounter both were teleporting quickly, waiting for the other to make his move. The Demon teleported quickly and so did Ryku, but just as Ryku stepped out of the void a sword emerged from of portal in front of Ryku. Ryku was able to create another portal and teleported before the sword hit him. His doppleganger retrieved his sword and launched a massive energy attack at Ryku. Ryku waited for his chance and created a portal, not for himself, but for the attack. The energy blast reappeared behind his demon counterpart and nailed him in the back. Before he could recover Ryku launched a vortex of wind which encircled the demon tossing him back and forth slicing him left and right. As the winds died down Ryku was upon his battered form and pierced him in the chest with his sword he channeled his power of void through his sword right into the demons body. The void teleported the demons heart into Ryku’s hand. The demon collapsed into a pile next to Ryku.

“Well, I guess you weren’t heartless after all. Oh well, sorry bout that.” Ryku said as he walked away.

Ryku’s sister wasn’t fairing as well as her brother. Her doppleganger had encased her in a reverse twister. Sucking the air out of her lungs. Aurora launched blades of wind at her doppleganger trying to break free before she passed out or suffocated. Aurora then used an attack her brother showed her, from within the twister she created an even more powerful twister and launched it at her opponent. The demon dropped her control over the twister momentarily to dodge Aurora’s attack, but that split second was enough for Aurora to break free. Aurora used her power over gravity to hold her opponent making dodging impossible.

“Celestial Blade!” Aurora yelled as she launched a blade of wind which passed thru the stomach of the demon. As Aurora turned away she released her power over gravity on the demon, it then collapsed in half.

Lyle was the lucky one. The power Death gave him made the battle easier. Lyle blocked most of his opponents attacks. Lyle swung his sword in an arc which the demon barely avoided. Lyle immediately began thrusting his sword forward very quickly, but the demon dodged every attack. The demon then parred Lyle’s final thrust and nailed Lyle in the chest with an electrical vertex. As the demon leapt into the air aiming for the final blow. Lyle raised his hand and blasted him with electricity. Lyle created electric chains so to speak which prohibited the demon from moving. Lyle then charged forward with his electrified sword and thrust hiss word forward slicing the demon in half.

Sara was dodging ice spikes left and right as she was speeding along on a film of ice. Her doppleganger was right behind her and gaining on Sara. Sara then created an ice ramp in front of her. She then launched off of the ramp and twisted around in mid air launching numerous ice spikes at her opponent behind her. The demon dodged the attacks and launched blades of water at Sara, who created an ice shield to protect her. At the moment she landed Sara ducked to avoid a kick aimed for her head. Sara grabbed her alter ego’s leg and flipped her onto the ground. Sara twisted her doppleganger’s arm popping it out socket. With her free hand Sara formed a sword out of ice and pierced it through the chest of her doppleganger.

1 week later...

“Ashley watch your back!” Sasuka yelled as a large demon tried to sneak up on her.

“Heh, please the guys don’t stand a change” Ashley said as she snapped her fingers and fire erupted from under the demon’s feet. Immediately burning him alive. Ashley then combined her powers over fire with her power over sonic’s launching flaming sonic blades at the demons in front of her. Killing everything in sight.

Sasuka and Lyle were fairing just as well. Sasuka held in his hands two circular blades, recent upgrades to his arsenal. Which he used to great advantage with his powers over wind. Creating twisters of blades, slaughtering demons in his wake. He also launched energized cards at a few demons trying to escape. Lyle wasn’t even trying as he dodged the demon’s attacks. He sliced many in half with his enormous sword. The rest he simply fried with a swift motion of his hand, as lighting fell from the Heaven’s vaporizing the enemy that surrounded him.

Michael and Sara were too busy bickering to pay much attention to the demons around them.

“I can’t believe you soaked all my stuff!” Michael protested as he launched a flaming spear into a demon behind Sara.

“Well at least I didn’t light your book on fire!” Sara argued as she sent an ice blade to cut a demon in half behind Michael.

“Look can you two save your arguing until after we finish this.” Lyle said as he teleported behind a demon decapitated with his hand.

“Fine, let’s get it over quickly then” Michael said as him as Sara exchanged quick glances with each other. Sara slammed her staff into the ground as Michael jumped into the air. She immediately froze all the enemies around them. Michael then created what looked like the face a dragon on his right and left hands. He then launched forth two dragons made entirely of fire that left no remnants of the demons in wake.

Aurora and her brother weren’t even taking the battle seriously they were in the middle of playing a board game while the demons invaded. Aurora and Ryku simple exchanged glances and at the same time snapped their fingers. Half of the demons were crushed by gravity, the other half were sucked into an eternal void of darkness.

“Well that was easy” Ryku said sarcasticaly “whose up for Yahtzee.”

“Heh, I think I’m going to grab myself a drink personally.” Lyle said as he turned around he quickly swiped his hand out in front of him. A bolt of lightning destroyed a boulder that was headed right for him.

“Ah shit Jamie” Lyle said, as everyone at once realized what had happened. The demons were weaker than the ones they were use to fighting, simple because they were a distraction.

Lye and Sasuka were the first one’s to arrive. What they saw was a struggle between to immovable forces. Jamie and her doppleganger were desperately trying to find a foot hold in what seemed like an uphill battle, which wasn’t an exaggeration. For Jamie and her doppleganer were manipulating the ground under them forming staircases to the sky and canyons to separate them. Jamie was dodging everything that was thrown at her. Jamie flipped over a spike that was launched at her. Before she hit the ground it vanished. Her dopplegagner created a canyon underneath her. Jamie summoned a boulder underneath her as she flew towards her prey. Jamie flicked her whip towards the boulder her doppleganger was on. When it stuck into the boulder, Jamie energized her whip which exploded the rock. Her doppleganger was falling for only a second, for she summoned a boulder to aid her. As soon as her feet hit the boulder she immediately flipped off of it and landed next to Jamie. She then used her whip to trip up Jamie, who hit the ground hard. Jamie was immediately covered by the ground all that was visible was her head. Her doppleganger loomed over her. Lyle, Sasuka, and Michael tried to get to her, but there was a 100 ft. canyon separating them. Along with more demon hordes.

“Jamie!” Lyle yelled, before he could even begin to reach her he was surrounded by demon’s that seemed to keep multiplying.

“So sad, no hero to protect you now” the demon Jamie said as she charged up for an energy attack. Jamie struggled to free herself, but before she could break through all the rock she saw the gleam of the blast. Jamie closed her eyes as she said a quick prayer. Her prayers it seemed were answered because before the attack hit her it was deflected by some unseen force. Jamie’s doppleganger was momentarily taken aback and her control over Jamie’s imprisonment eased. In that instant Jamie broke free. Jamie launched her whip forward piercing her doppleganger in the chest. She then energized her whip shocking her victim, before she could recover Jamie summoned the earth on each side of her together. Forming a vise made of the very earth itself.

“This is my Crushing Vise. You like it?” Jamie said with a glint of amusement. Jamie then turned her head as the rocks began to crush the life out of her other self.

“You don’t deserve to die peacefully, but I won’t watch you suffer” Jamie said quietly with that she flicked her wrist quickly. Her whip sailed in an X-pattern. Cutting both rock and flesh, as the rock crumbled away her doppleganger’s body fell into four separate pieces.

The demons attacking Jamie’s friends immediately fled when they saw their boss fall.

“Jamie you okay” Lyle asked worriedly.

“Well yeah duh, if I wasn’t would I be standing here” Jamie replied sarcastically “She was easier than I thought she’d be. With these constant demon attacks we’re getting stronger and stronger. But I’ll admit there was a second their I saw my life flash before my eyes. I’m lucky you guys startled her, cause that’s what gave me the slight edge.”

“I don’t think it was us that startled her.” Sasuka said very seriously while looking around.

“Whatcha talking about, if it wasn’t you guys then w...” Jamie stopped in mid sentence as she flicked her wrist. Her whip grazed past Lyle’s and Sasuka’s head slicing a demon behind them in half.

“Huh, oh thanks, but watch where your pointing that” Lyle said. About that time Michael returned after making sure the demons were completely gone.

“He’s not here” Michael said quietly to Sasuka as he came up close. Ashley, Sara, Aurora, and Ryku came running up quickly at that moment.

“Is everyone ok?” Ryku asked quickly “Sorry we got delayed by another group of demons. These were stronger than the ones we just fought. We barely made a dent in their numbers when all of a sudden they just left.”

“That doesn’t make any sense. Why send the strong demons after the weak ones” Sasuka mused.

“Yeah, unless it wasn’t part of the plan that the strong demons come at all. Maybe someone didn’t know what was going and just sent some demons to attack us.” Lyle thought aloud.

“That’s the most likely cause, but who? We’ve defeated all the dopplegangers.”
Michael said, but immediately realized his mistake “ all but one that is.”

Then at that instant everyone froze as they noticed the approaching energy. Everyone tensed ready for battle as they felt the energy rise above the horizon.

“Oh my Lord” Ashley said.

“Aww fuck” was all Lyle could say, for the sight that greeted them was at the very least 1,000 demons, all of which were Death’s greatest and strongest warriors. Not like the weaklings they had just been fighting. And there standing in front of them was a familiar sight. A demon that actually looked somewhat human. It’s face was all that they could recognize. It was Alex’s doppleganger, but it’s appearance had greatly changed. It was now atleast 10ft tall. His muscles rippled like steel, his skin was completely black, his ears pointed, and eyes glowed red. His hand were like razor sharp talons, so were his feet. His black leathery wings stretched the distance of 3 or 4 adult humans. At his side was a sword of tremendous size that almost seemed like it was part of his arm.

The hero’s prepared themselves, for what they thought would be an all out battle. However, Alex’s doppleganger raised his hands in peace.

“Fear not hero’s. We do not mean to fight with you today. I am only bearing a message from my Master. He wanted me to tell you, the final battle is approaching, the fate of all humanity rests in its outcome. Also, that when the time comes, you will find him, at the Valley of Death” Demon Alex said morbidly.

“Yeah, well you can tell your master this.” Lyle replied quickly “Last time he said it was the final battle, we kicked his ass. And that history repeats itself.”

“Heh, very well. But remember, you no longer can rely on the Archangel. For it appears he has deserted you. Also, no telling if you could trust him, with his dark side going unchecked. I’m surprised you trust this one.” The demon replied indicating Lyle.

“I trust Lyle...and Alex with my life. And I know that when the final battle comes, we can count on Alex to be there.” Sasuka words reflecting what everyone was thinking. With that the demon horde flew off.

“Do you really think Alex will come. I mean we haven’t heard from him since he left” Sara asked.

“Yes, Alex has inner demons that only he can conquer. But the reason he’s facing those demon’s is so he won’t hurt us. And I know that no force alive, would keep him from helping us”

“ It’s amazing how much everyone has changed since that fateful day we met.” Jamie recollected.

“Yeah, we’ve all matured and grown stronger since then.” Lyle said.

“But no matter how much we change, one thing will always be the same. Alex was and is over protective of his friends. When the time comes and we need him the most he’ll be there...just like always” Jamie said. With everyone’s nerves settled and fears calmed they headed inside for some well deserved rest.

That night a figure loomed on the roof top above the hero’s peering up at the sky debating what he should do. A battle raged between his mind and his heart. Just when it seemed his mind was about to win, a voice broke through the calm night air.

“You know they’d be really glad to have you back. And, it’s a lot warmer inside than it is out here” Lyle said as he slid down to sit next to Alex.

“I know, but you know me Lyle. I don’t know if I can face her...or anyone for that matter after what I did.” Alex replied.

“Well, it’s really hard for me, Sasuka, and Michael to keep it a secret you’re here. We saw what you did during Jamie’s battle. I’m sure it won’t take everyone else long to recognize your faint energy level...even if you are trying to hide it.”

“The time for the final battle is upon us. And this time I’m not sure whose going to win. The first time we fought for the sake of the earth, we were brash and young. We thought we defeated Death but he came back. What will stop him from doing so again?”

“The fact that this time you won’t fight him alone. We’ll be there to help you, were not as weak as you think we are. We’ve all gained a great deal of power in your absence. Especially a young lady in there who’s cried her eyes out every night since you’ve been gone, waiting for your return” Sasuka said as he made his way outside.

“Why would she cry over me?”

“Alex, you may be a great fighter. And you may give great advice, but you sure can be thick headed some times. Because she cares about you stupid! You left while she was unconscious, you left without saying goodbye to her. And all she can think about is you left because of her!” Michael remarked as he made his way towards everyone else.

“What, I didn’t leave because of her. I left because I was afraid I would hurt her again. Everyone I ever cared about died because of me. I always felt as if I killed them, and the fact that I almost killed Jamie scares me. I had to leave, I couldn’t risk losing control again.”

“Geez you really are selfish.” Lyle said.

“Selfish what the Hell do you mean selfish!” Alex cried in a burst of anger.

“Because, you left her. She cares about you, and you left her. You left out of self pity. And in the process broke her heart”

“I...”Alex was trying to think of something to say when suddenly someone broke the silence.

“So it was you today that helped me.” A voice said. When Alex heard that voice his heart just about broke. For 7 months he had longed to hear that voice, but now when he finally gets to hear it, it caused more pain that his heart could bear. He wanted to turn around and look upon her face, and embrace her, but he was afraid. No matter what anyone else said, he still felt a great burden and pain for what he did. As long as he lived he would never forget it. But, he new that this might be his last chance to make amends.

“Heh, yeah it was me. How are you doing Jamo?” Alex asked as he slowly turned around.

*She’s even more beautiful than I remember. When I saw her today, it was but a fleeting glimpse because I didn’t want to get caught. I’ve got to keep my emotions under control, but it hurts not to embrace her as I used to.* Alex thought as he stood up looking into Jamie beautiful eyes.

“I’m doing fine. I’m glad to see your doing well.” Jamie replied. Alex noted just a hint of iciness in her voice. It was then that the rest of the gang appeared on the roof top.

“Hey it’s Alex!” Ashley yelled as she ran an gave him a hug.

“Hey man glad to have you back” Ryku added as he shook Alex’s hand. Even Aurora and Sara were excited to see him.

“So, if your back, then the final battle must be really near” Ryku said.

“I’m afraid so. I’ve felt the demons powers increasing for some time. Waiting in anticipation for what will surely be the final battle.” Alex replied.

“Heh, well now that your back there’s no way we can loose” Lyle said as he patted his friend on his back, but in a lower voice he said “You want some alone time with Jamie?”

“No, I need to explain to everyone, not just her why I left”

“This is going to be hard for me. But, you guys have a right to know what happened, those months I left, and why I left once again.” Alex said as he eyes scanning the crowd.

“When I left I was furious, first at you guys for not trusting me, and second at myself for giving you reason not to trust me. When I finally found the Valley of Death, I was too weak to even make a dent in their lines. It was then that I was mad at myself for being to weak, to help anyone even myself. I was losing badly, it was then at my lowest moment , that I made the pact. I didn’t think much about it at the time, but right before a demon fell me. I thought that I would give anything to be stronger. Then it was like I heard a voice in my head. It said that it would give me power, all I had to do was accept it. At that point I was ready to do anything so I said yes. That’s how I opened my heart to the darkness, allowing Death to control me. When he captured you guys, he revealed to me something about my past that even to this day I wish I had never learned. You see, I never knew my father. I never really took much consideration to it. But then Death found just the right ways to push my buttons, and he delved into my past. He filled me in on a few facts about him that still haunt me. My father wasn’t a saint, I’ll tell you that much. He loved my mother though with all his heart, until he left her when he found out she was pregnant with me. But he got into some weird stuff. Demon worship, Satanic ritual that sort of thing. He made a pact with Death, just as I did, to gain more power. The only way he could obtain that power was to kill my mom, and when he did, he unleashed the power of Death. When I found that out, I was devastated as you could imagine. I was so numb I couldn’t move. Me and my father aren’t that different. I didn’t know the cause of my mom’s death, no one would, or could tell me. Now I knew. I hated my father for leaving us, and when I found out what he had done I wanted to kill him. But then Death said in his most calm voice ‘You can’t say anything, your exactly like him. Making pacts for more power, hurting the ones you love.’ The day I left, I realized just how weak I really was. The power Death gave me, didn’t make me stronger, it just made my weakness more apparent. I left, so that I could gain control and harness the dark powers within me. It was risky, but I knew I would need it for the battle that lay ahead. There were times when I had wanted to give up, but I kept thinking about you guys, and that gave me the energy to keep going. But still I wasn’t able to completely control it. There was too much anger, hurt, and pain, that I had kept bottled up inside of me. When I realized that was keeping me from harnessing it, it was just a matter of time before I was finally able to master it, well most of it. I still can’t use all 100% of it. But I want you guys to know, I didn’t want to leave. I hated not knowing if you guys were okay, I hated the fact that I deserted you when you needed me the most. And for that I am sorry. I know you guys probably should hate me for what I did, I can’t ask for your forgiveness but please, understand I only did what I thought was best.” Alex said. It was physically obvious that it was painful for him to disregard his pride, and admit his weakness. He looked really tired, and really alone. No one could bring themselves the feel the least bit of anger towards the person who had brought them so much joy, and had helped them so much, both on the battlefield and as a person.

“Alex quit being so gloomy. If we didn’t want you here we would’ve kicked you off are building long ago” Lyle said to lighten the mood as everyone started smiling for the first time in what seemed like forever. The good mood spread quickly and Alex found himself smiling, which anyone who knew him could tell you was rare, and for the first time in along time he felt genuinely happy.

“I’m finally home” Alex said happily as everyone headed inside for a celebration.

Later that night Alex was standing on the rooftop again. Peering out toward the full moon. He was glad that he was home, but in his heart he knew he wouldn’t be here much longer. The air of battle loomed over the earth. Death had tightened his grasp on the city, and everywhere else he could see. Demons were everywhere. They had to put a stop to this soon.

“I would have thought you’d be passed out by now” Jamie said quietly as she came up beside him.

“No, I haven’t been sleeping well lately. Too many nightmares.”

“It’s good to have you back”

“I’m glad to be back. What’s wrong Jamo”

“What makes you think something’s wrong?”

“For one, I know you too well for your own good. Another reason, is the fact that your way too quiet.”

“I don’t like it when I talk to someone who won’t look me in the eyes”

“How can I? Jamie, I was so scared when I hurt you. It just about tore me apart. How can you be so kind to me after all I did to you?”

“ I know you didn’t mean to. I know you couldn’t stop it, and I know it’s not your fault. Alex you can’t be so hard on yourself, you can’t have the weight of the world on your shoulders.”

“But isn’t that exactly what I have. If we lose, we don’t just lose our lives. The entire earth loses.”

“Alex, we will win. You will defeat Death.”

“How can you be so sure?”

“Because I love you. And, I know you better than anyone ever has or ever will. I know that when it comes down to it, you will succeed.” Jamie said as she embraced Alex under the full moon. Holding him tight, making sure he doesn’t fly away again and leave her all alone. “Also don’t forget, you may have the weight of the world on your shoulders, but you have friends to help carry the burden.”

“Jamie...I’ve missed you so much. I love you to. I just wish...”Alex couldn’t finish his sentence, he didn’t want to he just wanted to treasure this moment forever. But he knew in the morning, all their lives would change.

When the sun rose that morning it glowed an eerie red. Everyone could feel the tension, this was the calm before the storm.

“Looks like the time has finally come.” Sasuka said as everyone gloomily looked around.

“Today is the final battle. This battle decides the fate of all mankind. Today we do not just fight for ourselves, or to end this battle between the Guardians of Earth and the Demons. This battle decides wether or not the earth gets to see another sunrise.” Alex said calmly “Today we must fight with every last ounce of strength we have. For all the people we care about, and all our loved ones who have been in some way affected by Death. Today we walk away victors or we won’t walk away.”
