Remember when

 

Skeledude 12 proudly presents Remember when. Please note most of this story will be flash back! Hence the title. Ok!

Prologue:

 

“How many more boxes are there Aerith?” Yuffie complained, lifting a heavy cardboard box into Leon's room. It's been a whole 5 months since Sora sealed Kingdom hearts and now came the ever-anticipated filling Hollow Bastion with everyone's stuff had arrived.

“These boxes are heavy!” Yuffie yelled in a winy voice again, it was obvious she was of with Cloud again and not working at all, or at least not in the way Yuffie was, so Yuffie thought. She set the box down on the floor with a thud. She heaved a heavy sigh and dropped down on Leon's bed.

`What was in these boxes that made them so dang heavy?' Yuffie thought placing her head in her hands, and giving the box a raised eyebrow. She stood up and walked slowly over to the offending cardboard. She stood over the box and looked down on it as if it were her underling.

`What do you contain?' Yuffie said in her head to the box before ripping the tape off the top of the box and pulling open the flaps.

“It's photo albums.”

 

Chapter 1: Younger years

 

“Aerith!” Yuffie cried running out of Leon's room, clutching one of the photo albums in her grasp,

“Aerith!” she screamed as she tore down the hall.

“Yuffie!” Aerith shouted skidding to a stop after running out into the hall from the nearest room. Yuffie turned around to face the healer, Aerith was finishing buttoning up her dress and straightening out her hair, she was obviously doing something that involved heavy physical activity for she was also panting very much for someone who had jogged more two feet. Yuffie ran back and placed the photo album between her and the much older female. Aerith's eyes watered and she gave a shriek of happiness

“Oh my god where did you find this!” she said in one incoherent sentence while snatching the book from Yuffie's hands and flipping through the pages.

“In a box in Leon's room, with a ton of others” Yuffie explained, Aerith abruptly stopped what she was doing looked up slowly into Yuffie's slightly frightened teenage face.

“There are more?” she said almost falling over at the thought of more leverage over Leon than what she was now holding in her hands,

“Show me, um… wait a sec… Cloud!”

 

Aerith and a rather groggy Cloud followed Yuffie to Leon's room down the hall, when they entered they noted Cid was already there thumbing through the albums himself,

“You got the first one there Yuf? Hand er' here.” Yuffie handed Cid the first album and he place it back into the box,

“C'mon, Cloud grab the box will ya?” Cid exited the room with Yuffie in close pursuit; Cloud lifted the box easily with one arm and wrapped his free arm around Aerith and they also followed their two friends up the hall. Yuffie really admired Cid, she wasn't actually quite sure why. Was it the fact he was practically three times her age and if you just met him there would be no way of telling? Or was it the way he seemed to mold himself into environment they faced? It was mostly the last one Yuffie decided, and it was true, in traverse he seemed to blend in and adapt to his new life in the city. Cid, Yuffie, and the turtledoves entered the library and sat behind the desk on the top floor of the balcony.

“Alrighty, lets see here,” Cid said opening the first photo album out of the box. Inside was a photo of several babies, eight actually, well actually two looked a little older, three female, five male.

“Who are they? Their to cute!” Yuffie said over Cid's shoulder, she pointed to one of the males,

“Especially that one, what with his blue eyes and brown hair.” Cid smiled and said,

“Yeah Squall was absolutely precious.”

 

Flashback

 

*WAAAAAAAAAAA* a baby screamed waking the entire Bastion,

“Someone get that baby his bottle!” Yelled one of the elders who lived there yelled,

“Now, Zell quiet, please be quiet” a 17-year-old Cid comforted, Zell wouldn't stop screaming.

“Why can't you be more like Rinoa?” Cid said about to give up but right at that moment, Edea burst in and took the screaming Zell into her arms and rocked him till he fell asleep. She placed the child back in the crib with the other children and turned to face Cid.

“I'm sorry I… I didn't know what to do” he tried to explain, but Edea silenced him with a finger and said,

“It's alright Cid I understand.”

 

End Flashback

 

“Whoa! Wait who are all these children? Who's this Zell where is he now?” Yuffie was confused, and Cid waved a had swiping much of the comment aside,

“No one knows what happened really, except for me, I know who, when and why” Cid explained,

“Well who are the others?” Yuffie asked breaking the silence,

“Well this one's… Irvine and next to him is Selphie, then there's the two older ones, they're Quistis and Seifer, then Leon, Rinoa, and Zell” Cid said,

“Whoa those are about the weirdest names I've ever heard” Yuffie said amazed,

“Well your names not much better” Cloud said,

“Hey!”

“Now now, there's more pictures look at this one” Aerith said,

“That's Squall's 3rd Birthday, I remember it well”

 

~Flashback~

 

“No sit down, Zell come on don't chase Seifer, no Squall, put that down, Quistis! Quistis come on down I need help here!” Cid called.

Everyone gathered around the table and Squall blew out the candles and everyone cheered. Zell threw his cup at Seifer and they began to chase each other around the table, Irvine put his cup on his face and held it there so Selphie decide to do it too. Squall bounced in his seat till Rinoa leaned over and kissed his cheek. Squall blushed and looked at her and she blushed and looked away with a giggle. Cid served cake out with a sigh,

`Why did I take this job?'

 

~End Flashback~

 

“This is a year later, when Aerith an' Tifa an' Cloud were born”

“Who's Tifa?” Yuffie asked,

“Now calm down, I'll tell you”

 

~Flashback~

 

“Stop, stop hitting each other… wait… wait don't touch that… Selphie, Selphie stop banging those pots together!” Cid yelled at the group of children, in one hand was Leon in the other Seifer, Irvine was running in circles behind Selphie who was banging a metal pot with a wooden spoon, Quistis had locked herself in her room and refused to come out, little Rinoa walked up to Cid and pulled on his pants.

“Cid?”

“WHAT!”

“Can I have a cookie?” she asked,

“Yes fine whatever!” Rinoa smiled and skipped away into the kitchen; at the mention of cookies Leon and Seifer stopped struggling and ran into the kitchen after Rinoa and soon the clanging parade followed.

*Knock Knock* there was a knock on the door, and Edna opened the door she was holding one baby girl, and another female behind her was holding another female and a male. Cid sighed; Rinoa had an amazing sense of time now that everyone was munching on cookies the area was quiet.

“Hello Cid, say hello to little baby Aerith, and that's Cloud and Tifa” Edna said,

“Hi” Cid said not sounding impressed,

“They'll be moving in to the day care unit come Monday, see you then” Edna said and with that they left.

Cid sighed and as soon as he did Selphie and Irvine ran out of the kitchen and continued to crash pots around the room, and Seifer was chasing Squall with a wooden spoon that used to be in Selphie's possession. Cid sighed and dropped down on the sofa. He picked up a clicker and turned on the TV, it was then he silently swore, he would not move for that spot, come hell or high water.

 

~End Flashback~

 

“So you stopped watching us?” Cloud said looking at Cid with dagger eyes,

“Well what did you expect? I mean you were no angel Cloud”

 

~Flashback~

 

“Cloud stop… Cloud stop… Cloud stop” Cid repeated over and over again but never moved an inch from his well planted spot in the Hollow Bastion Daycare, in front of the TV. A 2-year Cloud was whacking him with a spatula, as Cid wouldn't give him his Suck-suck.

 

~End Flashback~

 

“I didn't call it a suck-suck!” Cloud yelled,

“Oh yes you did, look!” Cid yelled in response as he turned the page to a large black and white photo of Cloud and the inscription on the bottom read, `Cloud and his “suck-suck”.' Aerith and Yuffie rang out in a double *awww*

“Shut up” Cloud snapped. Cid turned the page and the first picture showed Him sitting on the couch with a blank look on his face, next to another male his age wearing shades with a scar across one eye and a red coat. One arm was inside the coat and was using it as a sling.

“Who's that?” Yuffie asked pointing at him,

“That's Auron, he was my pal growing up `ere, boy did he have a way with kids”

“I remember Auron… he was scary,” Aerith said.

 

~Flashback~

 

Aerith walked into the living room where the grown-ups sat watching TV.

“Cid?” she asked,

“Not now Aerith” Cid simply said,

“But Seifer wont let Zell play with me and…” Aerith whined and her eyes watered, Auron looked over at her with sympathy in his eye. He stood up and walked out of the room.

 

~End Flashback~

 

“I don't remember what happened next,” Aerith said,

“I do” Cloud grumbled.

 

~Flashback~

 

Auron walked into the room where Cloud was playing and walked up to Seifer and the room became deadly silent. Auron bent down to Seifer's height and said.

“You see this eye?” pointing to his scar, Seifer gulped and nodded.

“Do you know how I got it?” Auron asked, Seifer shook his head no,

“Well unless you want to find out, I'd play nicely, now let Zell go” Auron stated standing up. Seifer was sweating buckets and let Zell go and then scampered out of the room. Auron watched him leave and the turned to the kids and smiled,

“Play nicely” and with that he left.

 

~End Flashback~

 

“Wow he sounds tough, what happened to him?” Yuffie asked,

“He stuck around for a while, then he went off to find his destiny, haven't heard from him in years,” Cid said. Just then a leather clad SeeD graduate walked into the library and around the bookshelf saying,

“So you guys decide to leave me with all the work, I see how it…” Leon froze in his tracks. Everyone just stared as Leon's face went pale, those were his photo albums and one of them, wasn't to be looked in.
