Unwanted Life~.~.~.~She stood on her tip toes, fingers clenching the edge of the small square window above the door. Her eyes darted back and forth from machine, to doctor, to her mother lying on the operating table in the center of the room. Mechanical noises filled the room, but she ignored them all, wanting nothing but to observe what was going to happen. Doctors scrambled around hurriedly requesting tools and pushing nurses out of the way. They were speaking to each other in hurried tones, but what they said made little to no sense to the young girl peering through the window. They had asked her half a dozen times already to sit in the waiting room, but who could simply sit quietly and wait to see if their mother was going to die or not?Aaron wouldn’t be too sad if her mother died, she was an old woman with many problems and a deceased husband. Her mother had nothing to live for, except maybe her. She constantly felt guilty knowing her mother was only ‘hanging in there’ because she had asked her to stay with her as long as she could. Finally, during one of her mothers many coughing fits Aaron told her mother to just let go, to go see her father and watch over her. Apparently her stubborn mother was torn between decisions, she couldn’t decide if she wanted to live or die, and in the midst of her confusion sent herself into a seizure. That was why the short, brunette was peering through the window, tears now falling silently from her eyes. Wishing her mother would just let go, to go and rest in peace finally. Then she heard it, the one sound she had been craving to hear the moment she entered the building. Her mom had flat lined, finally passing on. Aaron exhaled knowing her mother was in a better place, and that she would watch over her forever. She let go of the small window and then took a few steps down the hall, leaning against the eggshell white wall with rivers of tears streaming down her face, tainted by gray clouds of smudged mascara. “Clear!” she heard a doctor state. A weird thud was heard, but the flat line was still in effect. “Again!… Clear!” she heard the same doctor shout, another moment passed before that uncomfortable thud was heard. Beep… beep… beep… beep.Aaron’s eyes widened, she ran her sleeve over her face, smearing all of her make-up to the right side of her face. She grasped the edge of the door window again and pulled herself up. She could see they had managed to revive her mother and she was breathing steadily on the table.“Shit!” she seethed between her teeth. In a fit of rage she turned around and grabbed the closest object she could find to throw at the wall. The tacky floral vase that held equally tacky fake flowers shattered in large pieces against the wall, the sound echoing through the quiet halls. Each flower fell to the jagged pile of rubble emitting a soft sound as they touched the floor.Standing there, breathing heavily with fists clenched, she glared at the door and fantasized about bursting in there, throwing all of the doctors and nurses out into the hall then kissing her mother goodbye as she held her hand. But no, that was just what had flashed through her mind, knowing it wouldn’t be as simple as that she looked around for something else she could destroy by throwing it at the wall, or at a doctor.~.~.~

Tiffany jumped up and slammed her hands against the table, the silverware jumped and the liquid in the cups rippled. “That’s it, we’re going to the hospital,” she declared, walking from the table to her room. The other occupants of the table were about to jump up and argue the reasons they shouldn’t go, the girl on one hand didn’t want to go to a hospital, they made her extremely uncomfortable. Plus, she didn’t mind the fact she couldn’t feel pain, it would probably come in handy later.P.J. on the other hand just simply didn’t want to go, if this girl here wanted to go she could go. She was old enough to handle herself, deciding it was in his best interest to be quiet he hunched over his plate and began to eat quickly, worried that Tiff might actually follow through with her plan, no one wants sit in a waiting room on an empty stomach. Tiffany had no intention of letting that girl continue to sit around and bleed, she threw on a fresh outfit, ran a brush through her bed-hair and pulled it back into a loose ponytail. She grabbed some clothes for P.J. and stomped back out to the kitchen. He had just finished up the last of his breakfast, he looked up at her with puffed cheeks, like a hamster during lunch. She rolled her eyes and threw his clothes at him, then looked over to the girl.“They’re going to want to know your name,” She said, really only wanting to know the girls name herself.“Heh, I have a lot of names, which one should I use?” The girl folded her arms and looked up trying to think of her favorite name for herself. She had used so many that she had forgotten her real name. “Elizabeth? Nah I use that one too often, how about hmm,” she stroked her fingers across her chin, thinking of a worthy name was difficult. P.J. exited the room to get dressed and Tiffany began to stack the plates to put them in the sink.“I know! How about Casey!” she said excitedly, “I have only used that name once, its one of my favorites though.”Tiffany nodded not really listening to the girl, “Alright Cassie.”“Its Casey… Case – ee,” She emphasized. “Ok Casey, lets get you checked out, then we’ll give you some money and I’m sure you can find some sort of shelter or something for a temporary home,” she clapped her hands together, pushing the excess water into the air, then wrapping her hands in a towel she walked to the doorway of the kitchen. “C’mon P.J.!” “Keep your panties on.” “If you don’t hurry I promise to keep them on for a long time.”“I’ll be right out!”Tiff smirked and threw her towel on to the counter, a loud siren played from the streets through the window and pierced her eardrums. She winced and walked over to the window, sliding it shut and flicking the lock into place. P.J. stumbled from the room, pulling on his shoes he stood up straight and rearranged his clothes to his liking. He pulled the keys from the small hook on the wall near the door. “I’m driving.”~.~.~She paced back and forth, hoping her mother would pass soon, hoping the doctors would just give up, hoping there would be some sort of earthquake that shook the hospital so violently that all of the little bowls, scissors and knives would fly around the small room, making the doctors run into the hall for shelter.Unfortunately she could still hear the steady beeping of the heart monitor, the doctors had calmed down drastically and were working in silence, trying their best to keep this woman alive. Finally the head doctor declared the woman was in stable condition and left the room, small beads of sweat racing down his face.Aaron watched the people walk from the room, they all smiled at her. She didn’t return the smile, her eyes were filled with disgust. She knew they only did what they were taught to do, but they just didn’t realize what this woman had been through.“You may see her now, if you’d like,” said the last doctor who left the room, he waved at her slightly and walked forward, looking down at the chart in his hand. Aaron walked to the door and turned the handle slowly, she pushed on the door without much force and it swung open without a sound. Aaron walked in small steps until she reached her mother’s side, she watched the elderly woman’s chest rise and fall with each breath she took. Her mother’s eyes were shut and the only thing disrupting the silence was the humming of machines and the slow beep of the heart monitor.Aaron slid her hand into her mothers, a tear rolling down her cheek and onto her mother’s hand. Her grip tightened, squeezing her fingers together uncomfortably. “Mom… I love you, but please, just let go,” the brunette whispered between quivering lips. She leant over the bed and kissed her mothers forehead, the grip of her fingers loosened and then her mother’s hand fell limp. Aaron exhaled deeply, knowing that she now truly was alone. The constant beep of the heart monitor had doctors flocking toward the room tossing aside the clipboards and stethoscopes that burdened them. A tall handsome doctor walked in and grabbed Aaron’s shoulders. “Step back, we may be able to bring her back,” he said in a comforting tone of voice. Aaron turned to face the doctor, her tears still streaking down her face, her eyes red and puffy.“No,” she said, folding her arms across her chest, making sure to be the barrier to keep her mother from returning to this miserable life, “She’s had a full life, its her end. She has nothing else to live for and I cannot let you bring her back here so she can continue her empty life.”The doctor was indeed shocked, but he had to try. It was his job. “Move aside girl,” he repeated, walking toward the bed, paddles in hand.“She’s been flat lined too long, just leave her alone,” she shouted. Other doctors and nurses were standing in the doorway, not wanting to get involved with the conflict, but curious enough to stay and watch the outcome.“I have to try,” he stated, knowing she wouldn’t be able to be revived now, but he wasn’t going to let himself be pushed around by some simpering girl with an attitude. What he didn’t realize was this particular girl had been stressed and depressed for the past six years of her life, she had grown to loathe people in general and had developed a short, violent temper. She stepped forward and shoved the doctor in the shoulders, sending him stumbling back into a small rolling tray of tools, his elbow cut by a scalpel that he unfortunately landed on just right.Aaron clenched her fists and turned to walk from the room and from the hospital as fast as she could. She didn’t have the money to be arrested right now, she pushed past the small crowd that had gathered, now made of doctors, nurses, and patients.
“Whats going on?” called a security guard from the other end of the hallway. Even from this distance, Aaron could see he was probably fit enough to put up a good chase. The doctor she had shoved just moments before emerged from the room.“Her! She did it! She wouldn’t let me save her mother! Then she got violent, pushing and shoving,” he shouted, the crowd nodding along. Aaron turned and ran down the hall, away from the security guard and the crowd. She turned the corner and barely missed bumping into a girl with a sparkling new wrap around her right arm. “Watch it!” exclaimed the girl, annoyed by the rudeness of the people in this hospital.“Sorry.” Aaron replied on reflex. Aaron continued to run down the hall, shifting between people as carefully but quickly as she could. The elevator ahead dinged announcing its arrival, the doors slid open and only one person occupied the small space. She ran into it, shoving the person to the side of the elevator against the cold light blue wall. She pressed the lobby button and jammed her thumb into the ‘close doors’ button.“Stop her!” shouted the guard, pulling a walkie-talkie from his belt, informing the other guards where she was headed. To her dismay she was on the fourteenth floor, she knew there would be someone waiting at the lobby the second the doors slid open. She jabbed her thumb into the third floor button.“Rough night?” asked the boy who was trapped in the cage like device with her.“Funny,” she said rolling her eyes. She looked him up and down real quick then looked up at the screen showing which floor she was passing. Only four more to go.“Why are you dressed like that?” she asked the red headed boy who was walking around looking very out of the times. “Haven’t updated my wardrobe in a while,” he said shrugging. The elevator began to slow down and the small ding was sounded as the doors slid open. “There she is!” shouted a female voice.Aaron jabbed the close door button once again, and then pushed the button for the top level. She’d have to play cat and mouse for a little while as she thought of an escape plan.“What did you do?” asked the boy who now was leaning against the side of the elevator picking at his nails with a small knife.“Whoa, whoa, whoa, you know you’ll be arrested if they catch you around here with shit like that,” she said, now a little scared of her roommate. “What are you talking about? If you can smoke in a hospital you can very well bring in your weapons,” he said pulling back the side of his long jacket, exposing the long sheathed sword attached to his hip. “I usually strap it to my back, but I noticed everyone around here seems to keep them hidden and I didn’t want to stand out.”Aaron raised her eyebrows and nodded, wondering if he had recently escaped from some institution for the mentally insane.“You going to answer my question?”“Huh?”“What did you do?”“Oh well, I let my old mother pass on and the doctor threw a fit because I told him to try not to revive her, I pushed him and now this all happened.”“They’re chasing you because of that? Geez I punched a doctor once for trying to overcharge my mother for medication, they didn’t do anything but give me the meds for free… and ban me from the place,” the boy shrugged and swiped the bangs that had fallen in front of his face behind his ear with his fingertips.Aaron stared at the boy, stunned that they wouldn’t have arrested him or pressed charges under such circumstances. She shook her head, noticing they were only a few floors from the roof.“Shit!” She jabbed the stop button of the elevator and the small box shook violently as it came to a halt.“What are you up to now?” asked the boy who was still picking at his nails. “I have no clue, if I’m caught I’m going to be charged with assault and resisting arrest.” She pressed the palm of her hand against her forehead and squeezed her eyes shut, trying to not lash out in a fit of tears for her dumb decisions.“Did you love your mother?” Aaron glared over to the boy, did he think she’d just go murder her mom cause she didn’t like her?“Yes, very much so, I loved her enough to let her go,” she said softly, looking down at her feet. Her hair fell over her shoulders, blocking most of her face from view of the boy. “Go to the roof,” the boy said, standing up straight and pushing his hair back again. He looked over to Aaron and smiled. “Trust me,” he winked and she pressed the button to the roof. The elevator shifted into gear, the brakes unlocked making the vessel shake then it hummed as it climbed the last floors to the roof. The ding sounded again as the doors slid open, the boy grabbed Aaron’s wrist and pulled her out of the elevator before the door dinged again as it started to close. He grabbed the door, forcing it to slide back open. “I need something to block it with.” he said looking around at the small room they were in. There was a single door that led to the outside of the roof. “Um, I don’t think I have-”“Give me your jacket.” “What?!” “Your jacket, it’ll stop the door from closing.”“But I love this ja-”“Do you want to make it out of here or not?”Reluctantly she slid off her jacket, balled it up and put it between the door and the wall, blocking the door from fully closing. She understood why this was important, if the elevator was jammed no one could use it to follow her up there. If she was lucky the only way you could get to the roof was the elevator.~.~.~.~

Casey didn’t care if she went to the hospital, she was fine, but Tiffany wouldn’t take no for an answer, so they all went reluctantly. They rode in the car in silence, and were all relieved when they reached their destination.Casey and Tiff both got out of the car as P.J. went to park. They walked through the double doors that slid apart at their presence. Tiff made their way to the front desk, the lady didn’t bother looking up she just sat there and typed away at the computer.“Can I help you?” her nasal congested voice gave the impression of a chipmunk.“Yes, my friend here hurt her arm, she tripped walking down the street and landed in some glass. She’s lost all feeling in her left arm.”“You need to fill this out,” the woman peered up at them as she handed them a clipboard with a few papers clipped down, followed by a pen.“Thanks,” Tiff didn’t bother smiling at her, they both walked across the hall and took a seat, “Name?” “Casey”“last name?”“Uhh.. I don’t know.. What’s yours?”“Peterson.”“Yea that sounds cool, Peterson.” “You cant take my last name!”“Why not?” “Cause its mine.”“Ok ok fine, how about…” Casey’s eyes darted around the room, she looked up at the bulletin board then down to a stack of magazines, on the cover of one called the National Acquirements was a headline that read; “McDonald’s creator…an alien!” there was a picture of a small building that had many people sitting inside out front stood a skinny figure with a large round head and black oval eyes, he sported a ‘McD’ visor and had on a suit.“McDonalds?”“Perfect, McDonald will work. Ok age?”“Eighteen.”“Bullshit.”‘I swear!”“Yea and I’m a pre-teen.” “No way!”Tiffany snorted and wrote down the number the girl had given her. It was quite a while before they worked through the document. Tiffany wasn’t worried about them realizing it was a fake, they didn’t ever look at the documents anymore. They were required to have the patients fill them out to make them feel better.~.~.~.~Travis jumped back to the other roof and used the sheath of his sword to stop the door from slamming shut. Had it been a second later, he wouldn’t have made it. Silently he walked into the hall and let the door close behind him with a small slam. He placed his sheathed sword back into his belt and walked down the stairs, trying to keep a fair distance from the two he pursued. They had walked back in silence so he had to be extra quiet, he held his breath most of the time, though he didn’t notice he was doing so. He watched them go through a doorway with a large number ‘9’ painted on it sloppily. He caught that door in time as well and looked through it to watch them walk down the hall, carefully noting which door they entered he followed briskly down the hall once the apartment door had closed behind them.
“Forty three,” he whispered to himself, “level nine room forty three.” After repeating the address to himself a few times he leaned against the door, listening in to the conversation. There were two females, one being the girl who had brought him here. Then there was the male.He figured the other girl was the one that had been on the roof holding the light the night before. He zoned out, listening to them so intently he almost forgot to hide when they decided to leave for the hospital. They walked down the hall and to the elevator, the doors screeched as they slid mostly open, then screeched even louder as they closed. Travis darted to the window at the end of the hall and was glad to see there was a fire escape. He pushed open the window, as far as it would go then crawled through onto the shaky, metal staircase. He ran down the steps until he was on the fourth floor, then he just jumped over the side rail and landed lightly on the ground. Travis stepped around the corner of the building and pushed his hair back from the right side of his face, he saw the trio get into a small car and take off. Something Travis took pride in was hot wiring cars. He had stolen the coolest looking car (in his opinion) just a few weeks ago, it was probably still parked outside of that church.Travis eyed all of the vehicles he had to choose from, none of them seemed like they would run very well. Then his eyes fell on the most gorgeous motorcycle he had ever seen. It was a sleek black that shone blue in the sunlight. Dark gray flames were engraved into the sides and outlined in a bright orange. Mesmerized, Travis jogged over to the vehicle and lifted his leg over it, now sitting on it he realized how much he needed this particular vehicle. Not wanting to bust open the cover of the wires he searched everywhere for any sort of key. Bummed out that he’d have to damage his ride he grabbed the helmet and slid it onto his head, only to be annoyed by the keys that were digging into the top of his skull. He pulled the helmet off, grabbed the keys before they slipped from his head and slipped the helmet back on. Shoving the key into the ignition he started the bike, he felt giddy, like a little kid on Christmas eyeing an ocean of presents Santa had left them.Kicking back the kickstand he revved the bike and took off into the streets. A hospital couldn’t be hard to find he figured if he did have any problems finding the place he’d just stop and ask for directions, but only if he really had to.Driving around the city blocks, he watched as young girls always stopped and stared at him as he drove by, his long jacket flapping in the wind behind him and his sword sheath shining in the daylight.A grin planted itself on his face and he revved the motorcycle once again, deciding he had messed around enough he continued his search for a hospital. To his luck he saw a road sign ahead stating the hospital was only twenty miles away. He sped up and swerved through the traffic, following the signs that lead the way to his destination.~.~.~.~Wee all done with Chappie two ^.^ Whatcha think eh?
