Chapter 3
ÔAron do you think everything is ok with father?Õ Legolas was still worried for his father he seemed aggravated when he finish reading the letter.
ÔOf course, everythings fineÕ Aron responded trying to cheer Legolas up. They were on their way to look at the calf, that should cheer him up. ÔSo how did you know Aurora had her calf.Õ
Ôuh...someone told meÕ Legolas said a little nervously. He didnÕt like lying.
ÔYou know whatÕ Aron asked him
ÔWhat?Õ
ÔYour a horrible liarÕ They both laughed because Legolas was the worst liar. ÔBut you should have let me come with youÕ
Legolas smiled at his brotherÕs protectiveness. ÔAron this is Mirkwood, nothing will happen here, itÕs safeÕ Legolas shuddered as a flash of a long time ago passed through his mind.
His shudder did not go unnoticed by Aron. Aron got close to Legolas and put his arm around LegolasÕ shoulders and pulled him close, they walked the rest of the way to the stables like that. Legolas was comforted by his brotherÕs warmth and when they neared the stables Legolas went ahead as he was excited and the flash that he remember was lost as he looked upon the calf and itÕs mother. ÔHow are you doing Aurora?Õ Aurora neighed as she saw Legolas.
ÔIt seems that she missed youÕ Aron had reached Legolas and stood next to him. ÔJust like you miss herÕ
Legolas smiled at her and her calf. ÔAron what should we call him?Õ
Aron looked at the calf. ÔIm not sure. We could wait to see what kind of personality he has. Then we could come up with his name.Õ
ÔYeah, thatÕs a good idea. I hope heÕs like his mother. He-Õ
Legolas was cut off as a servant appeared calling their names. ÔMy prince Aron and my prince Legolas, your father request your presence. He calls you to his chambers.Õ
ÔWe will be there. Your dismissed Griela.Õ Aron turned to Legolas as the servant Griela left. ÔI guess our free day is no longer a free day. Our father has come to his sense and will continue our studies for todayÕ
Legolas laughed ÔYes he will. And we best go to him quickly before he decides to pile us with alot of studies.Õ They walked back to their home towards their fatherÕs chambers.
As they arrived they heard their father giving instructions to prepare a departure for tomorrow.
Legolas ran inside followed by Aron. ÔFather, your not leaving are you?Õ
ÔYes Legolas I amÕ Thranduil replied to his question. ÔThat is why I have called you both, I leave tomorrow for RivendellÕ
ÔFatherÕ Aron butted in, Ôwe have not dealt with Rivendell or any others for a long time for reasons I believe are still reasonable. Why do you go there. And donÕt tell me nothing because you wouldnÕt go there unless it was real important.Õ
Thranduil was reminded of himself as he looked at AronÕs face. The same arrogance and determination was written on his face. ÔYou really are not going to stop bothering me unless I tell you.Õ It wasnÕt a question but Aron nodded his head.
ÔSomething was found, something that will cause Middle EarthÕs doom.Õ
ÔThe one ringÕ Legolas said. Thranduil and Aron looked at him.
ÔI know about it, I do pay attention to some of the things Resmor tells meÕ
Thranduil frowned ÔYes the one ringÕ He felt his sons were old enough to know about the knowledge of his kingdom so he kept nothing form them. ÔA meeting is being held in Rivendell. Others will attend as well as myself.Õ
Aron smiled, ÔIf you are attending it is reasonable for the crown prince to attend.Õ
ÔNo Aron, you will stay here with Legolas.Õ Thranduil said, as he hoped Aron wouldnÕt make it harder for him.
ÔNo, not with meÕ Legolas said, Ôbecause I will be going with you.Õ
ÔNO, nor you or Aron will come with me, I alone will travel to Rivendell, knowing both of my sons are within Mirkwood, SAFE.Õ Thranduil said.
ÔNo, please father, I donÕt want you to leave without me because..because-Õ Legolas couldnÕt finish the rest as he ran into the bathroom locking the door. Thranduil and Aron rushed to the door trying to open it, but realized it was locked. Thranduil banged on the door worried for his son. ÔLegolas open the doorÕ But no response was heard. Thranduil went in his drawl and looked around for something as Aron tried to convince Legolas to open the door. Thranduil came back with a key to the bathroom, and opened it.
What they saw made them want to cry. Legolas was curled up on the floor hugging his knees. They sat on the floor next to Legolas. Thranduil pulled Legolas on his lap. ÔWhatÕs wrong Greenleaf...please tell me whatÕs wrong.Õ Aron tried to comfort him by petting his head as his father rocked him back and forth.
Legolas looked up with teary eyes. ÔI donÕt want you or Aron to leave me. I want to be with you two, not alone, and not just have one of you.Õ Legolas said through his sobs.
ÔGreenleaf we will never leave you, neverÕ Aron said as he continued to pet him. (i know i know he isnÕt a pet but donÕt you wish you had him. I kinow i do ::smiles:: My own Legolas)
ÔNo donÕt leave because..be..Õ
ÔGo ahead greenleafÕ Thranduil tried to encourage him.
ÔBecause I donÕt want you to leave like mother did. I want to be with youÕ Legolas said as his sobs stopped and silent tears streamed down his face. ÔI miss herÕ
Thranduil and Aron were surprised Legolas even remember her he was still so young when she died. (Just to tell you he looked about 4 or 6) Thranduil hugged Legolas closer to him. You wonÕt lose us, never. I promise you that.Õ Aron hugged him to show him they will never leave him ÔneverÕ. Legolas smiled, Ôthen I could go with you, right?Õ
Thranduil frowned, Ôyou may come but it will be dangerous, you must promise to be in good behavior.Õ
ÔIm not little anymore, and I promise. Aron too right?Õ Legolas asked, cheering up alittle.
Thranduil sighed, ÔOf course, how could I take one and not the other.Õ Aron smiled at this. ÔLegolas I hope this wonÕt upset you but do you still remember mom?Õ
Legolas smiled and Aron sighed because it didnÕt upset him. Legolas snuggled closer to his father. ÔYes and no. Somethings are fuzzy and some are clear. I canÕt remember her face but the portraits show me how she looked like. I remember she smelled of vanilla. And sometimes I dream she is singing to me.Õ
Thranduil smile, ÔYes thatÕs all true, She loved singing to you and Aron. And she smelled like vanilla.Õ
Aron laughed, ÔI remembered when Legolas was messing around in the garden, somehow you found your way there, and until this day no one knows how. You were all dirty so then instead of washing you she started to play with you in the muddy parts. It seemed you like the mud.Õ Legolas smiled.
ÔYes I remember that dayÕ Thranduil made himself comfortable on the floor. ÔI joined in, same goes for Aron, we all ended up covered in mud that day.Õ
ÔI wish she was hereÕ Legolas said as he looked to his father.
ÔWe all doÕ Aron and Thranduil said.
The three elves stayed there talking about memories until they decided it was time for bed, because the next day they would be traveling.
After their Good nights they all went to bed. Legolas dreamed of his mother and her sweet voice. And when he would wake he would sing a song to the sun which reminded him of his motherÕs warmth.
