Fan Fiction ❯ Shape Shift 1: La Manada ❯ Chapter 3
They gathered downstairs at five p.m. "Anyone else have trouble sleeping last night?" asked Jinx. "Yeah, me, thanks to Chaos," said Prank. "What happened?" asked Clash. "They all woke up at six this morning," said Discord. "Woke up? No, she freaked out!" said Echo. Jinx slapped his arm. "Why'd you wake up?" asked Trickster. The girls shook their heads. "I don't know," said Trouble.
"Because someone was here," said a voice. The Pack and the four Kittens jumped to their feet, spinning to face the intruders. Then Trouble, Chaos and Jinx saw who it was.
"Demon!" "Fury!" "Psycho!" The three of them flew forward into the arms of the men that stood by the door. The one called Fury kissed the top of Chaos' head. "Hey little sister of mine." "Where have you been?" Trouble demanded. Demon laughed. "Everywhere!" Psycho was looking at the Pack over Jinx's head. "Who the Hell are they?" Jinx, Chaos and Trouble stepped back. "Big Brothers, this is the Pack," said Trouble, naming them all off. "Guys, these are our older brothers, Demon, Fury and Psycho," said Jinx. "Wolves?" asked Demon, incredulous. "Yeah, Wolves," said Discord, pulling Trouble to him. Demon's eyes narrowed. "Play nice, boys," Jinx warned. "We'll discuss this later," said Chaos. "How did you know someone was here?" she asked, turning to Fury. "There's fresh tracks outside," said Psycho, his eyes never leaving Echo. Jinx stepped between them. "That's enough, guys." "Yeah," said Trouble," we got more important things to worry about than your testosterone levels." "She's right," Discord said. "The girls are in danger." "From who?" Demon demanded. "The other Pack," said Clash. "Hey, we are still in the room, you know," said Chaos, pulling away from them all. Trouble joined her by the door. "We don't need your protection." "We're not helpless," said Disorder. Jinx nodded and followed their lead. "We'll do just fine on our own." With that, they walked out. Trickster moved to stop them, but Clash put a hand on his arm. "Don't. They need time."
*Know just how to get what we want,
Tear it from your soul in nightly hunt,
Fuck it all and fucking no regrets,
Never happy ending on these dark sets*
Riot dropped from the trees, landing directly in front of Trouble. "Surprise." She jumped back and ran into Jinx, Disorder and Chaos. They were surrounded. Riot grabbed Chaos' wrist and pulled her out of the group. "Did you miss me? Or has my brother been filling your head with stories?" "Fuck you!" she spat. Riot smiled. "You will."
Jinx backed up, into a wall. Rebel just kept coming toward her, stripped to the waist, holding a steel blade in his right hand. "Don't fucking touch me," she hissed, sliding along the wall. "Oh, I'm gonna do a lot more than that, little Kitten. You can bet on it."
"Back off," said Trouble, moving around the room and ending up in a corner. "I don't think so. I'm taking what I want," Unruly promised. "Over my dead body!" "That can be arranged."
Chaos screamed. Riot, holding both her arms above her head with one hand, smiled. "Get used to it, Chaos. Forget Prank. He was never good for much anyway. Who knows, maybe you'll even learn to like it." "Go to Hell!" "Get the fuck off her!" Both Chaos and Riot looked up to see Prank flying at them. He hit Riot with enough force to send him flying. Chaos rolled off the bed to where her clothes were and pulled on her jeans. Her shirt was beyond salvation, torn in half, so she crossed her arms over her breasts and stood, looking anxiously at the two Wolves. They were locked in combat, teeth flashing and blood flowing. A leather jacket closed around her from behind and Fury pulled her back, against him, turning her away from the fight.
Jinx rolled onto the floor, away from Echo and Rebel, and dressed, quickly. Then she stood, unsure of what to do next. Psycho appeared in the doorway. "Jinx?" She looked up at her brother. "Psycho, help him!"
Trouble's nails dug deep into Unruly's cheek and left four bloody ribbons across his face, just as Discord kicked the door in, Demon close behind. It was Unruly who jumped off the bed and backed toward the window. Discord got closer, a growl coming from deep within his chest, and Unruly jumped.
They met in the hall, all at once. "Are you okay?" asked Jinx. "I'll live," said Chaos, and then looked at Trouble. "Fine. Jinx?" "Yeah, I'll be okay." "Is Riot dead?" asked Discord. Prank shook his head. No questions were asked.
"No!" They followed Diablo's yell to another bedroom. Renegade, or actually, pieces of him, were everywhere and the walls were splashed red. Disorder was lying on the bed, naked and very still. Too still. Diablo knelt beside her, holding her small, pale hand against his face. He looked up at the others. "He broke her neck." Then the tears broke through. Trouble went forward to hold him and Jinx and Chaos wrapped a blanket around the form that had once been their friend. Fury moved to lift her, but Diablo stood. "No. I'll carry her."
Trickster, Clash and Anarchy were downstairs, waiting. "Are you okay?" asked Anarchy. Then he saw the bare feet of Disorder dangling from the blanket that Diablo carried. "Oh, God," said Clash, paling. "Sonofabitch," Trickster muttered, looking away. "Where are the others?" asked Demon. "Probably hunting," said Clash, still in shock. "Then let's get the girls home," said Psycho. For once, all Big Brothers and Wolves agreed.
