Hellhound approached the old house slowly. Prank's Pack had been there. He heard nothing from within and led the others inside, cautiously. "Riot?!" "What?" They spun toward the sound. Riot sat in the dark, with Unruly and Rebel. They were bruised and bloody. "What happened? Where's Renegade?" asked Creep. "Dead. Diablo tore him apart," said Rebel. "He killed the Kitten. The little blond," said Unruly. "Fuck," Hellhound mumbled, sitting down. "So, it's over? We leave now?" asked Deth. Riot looked up. "No. We'll have them. Now it's more important than ever. My brother and his Pack will pay." "Riot, it won't work! Renegade is dead! And he killed one of those girls. That wasn't part of the plan. How many more will die for your pride?!" Deth argued. Riot stood. "As many as it takes. We'll have those girls. We'll bend them to our will; we'll break them and make Prank and his Pack watch every bit of it. You, Deth, will be the first." He shook his head. "No, Riot. I'm out. I won't hurt them." Deth spun on his heel and walked out.

Trouble sighed and raised her face to the hot spray from the shower. She jumped when Discord tapped on the shower door. "Trouble, you okay?" "Yeah. I'm fine." "You need anything?" "No, Discord." There was silence for a moment, then, "Trouble, did he-" "No, D." She stuck her head out. "He didn't. Thanks to you." His shoulders slumped in relief. "Thank God." She kissed his cheek. "Now, go away so I can wash my hair."

Chaos stood silent and shaking as Prank pulled off her clothes. His breath hissed in at the sight of her. Bruises and welts, roughly the size of a man's hands, covered her torso and arms. Her cheeks were scraped and there was blood on her thighs. "Bastard," he swore, shaking with rage. He took a deep breath. "Get in the water, Chaos. Come on, Baby." Like a robot, she obeyed, stepping into the bathtub and sitting down. Kneeling beside the tub, Prank pulled her against him. "I gotcha, Baby. I promise I won't let you get hurt ever again," he whispered. Finally, after remaining calm and silent through it all, Chaos began to cry.

Jinx leaned back against Echo and his arms closed around her. He kissed her neck and flattened his hand on her abdomen. She flinched. Echo looked down and gasped. "What the fuck?" He touched the angry red lines that crisscrossed all over her body, from shoulders to knees. "Rebel had a knife," she said, quietly. "Sonofabitch. I'll kill him." The hot water was soon tinted pink and Jinx could feel her cuts begin to close as her vampiress blood began doing its job. Echo held her, stroking her hair back from her face, until long after the bath turned cold.

Sometime before dawn, Prank carried Chaos to Trouble and Discord's room. She woke, just long enough to see where she was, and then closed her eyes again. Echo brought Jinx in soon after. Pulling the blankets around the three sleeping girls, Echo, Discord and Prank snuck out of the room and downstairs.

"Okay," said Discord, "nothing said here can be told to the girls. We don't need a repeat of yesterday." Trickster looked surprised. "They wouldn't-" Psycho cut him off. "Yes, they would."

Trouble woke to darkness. "Chaos?" "Huh?" "Where's the sun?" "There is no sun, Trouble. We've died and this is Hell. We have to get up this early for eternity." A strange mewling sound came from Jinx. "They're talking about us," said Trouble. "What's new?" said Jinx. "Why do you suppose they brought us all here?" Chaos mused. "Closest to the stairs, closest to them," said Trouble. "Yeah, I guess that makes sense." "Do we get to go spy?" asked Jinx, eagerly. "No. They'll slip up and tell us anyway. For now, sleep," said Chaos. "Good plan," Trouble muttered, already halfway there.

Charm's eyes followed Diablo's every move. He was upset about his bitch. They were all gathered in the living room, discussing how to protect the Kittens. They had no idea that the Shis were involved. That was good. Amulet was focused on Prank, and a soft whine came from her throat. "Silence," Siren ordered, her gaze set on Echo.

Echo's head snapped up. "Do you smell that?" Discord looked at him and sniffed. "Shi-wolf?" "In heat," Clash confirmed. "Outside," said Diablo. They all bolted for the doors. Following the scent, they gathered under the window. The Shi Pack was gone. "Sonofabitch," Prank swore. "Who was it?" asked Fury. Clash sighed. "I'm guessing it was Charm and her Pack." "God, not them, please, NOT Siren!" Echo begged no one in particular. Trickster looked at him. "It can't be that bad." Echo stared at him. "Don't bet on it."

Demon stared down at his little sister, who slept beside Jinx and Chaos. The boys had all been 18, returning home from a concert, when a stranger gave them the Gift. And that opened up a whole new world for them. A world where werewolves and vamps were commonplace. Born on the proverbial wrong side of the tracks, the boys had been best friends forever. All living in abusive homes, they waited until their sisters were all 16, and then brought them across. Chaos was first, then Jinx and Trouble. They'd taken their Darkside names at once and no longer even remembered their human names. The girls had met Disorder about 20 years later. They'd gone their own way, separated from their brothers. Now, after 17 years apart, all three girls still looked 16, as vampires never age. Wolves, though, aged as a human would, until they reached their Pack age, which was the age of the original Lead Wolf. Prank's Pack age was 23, but there were Packs that aged from 10 to 50. Demon shook his head and glanced at the clock. 9 a.m. That was the middle of the night for them. "Demon?" He looked back. There was Fury. "Yeah?" "What're you doing?" Fury moved to his side. "Watching. Remembering." "What's going through your head?" Demon met his gaze. "We shouldn't be here." Fury looked confused. "Why? They're our sisters. It's our job to protect them." "Not anymore. It's Discord and Prank and Echo's job now. This is Wolf Pack business and we shouldn't be involved." Fury sighed and looked down, lightly touching Chaos' cheek. "You might be right, Demon." "Of course he's right. He's D. He's always right," said Psycho, from the doorway. "Then you agree?" asked Demon. Psycho nodded. "Let's get some sleep then. We can't leave until they wake up or they just might kick our asses," said Fury. "Let's go tell Prank," said Demon.
