Fan Fiction ❯ Shape Shift 1: La Manada ❯ Chapter 5
Prank nodded when he heard their plan. "You're right. It's Pack business. That's exactly why you have to take them with you." Fury's head snapped up. "She loves you Prank. If you've just been playing with her, I'll tear out your heart with my bare hands." Prank stood. "Of course I love her! This is the hardest thing I've ever had to do!" Echo spoke up. "It's the only way to be sure they're safe. God, if I lost Jinx, I wouldn't have anything left to live for." Discord nodded. "Riot won't be able to track you. It's almost impossible to catch a vamp that doesn't want to be caught. Besides, we know you love them just as much as we do. They'll be safe with you." Psycho was shaking his head. "No, they'll never agree to it." "They don't have to agree," said Discord. "You don't understand," said Fury. "If my little sister wants to be somewhere, she will be there, no matter what the risk and the others are just as bad." Demon was nodding in agreement. "Right now, they're exactly where they want to be: with you." He gave them a funny smile. "You're stuck with 'em." "What if they agree to go?" asked Trickster. Psycho raised an eyebrow. "Then we'll take them, but it won't happen."
"What won't happen?" asked Jinx, as she, Trouble and Chaos came downstairs. Echo pulled her close, silent. "What Discord?" Trouble demanded. Discord spoke softly. "We want you to leave tonight, with your brothers. Just for a while, until all this blows over." "No," said Jinx, without a second thought. "Jinx speaks for all of us," said Trouble. Prank raised Chaos' head to lock eyes with her. "Please, Baby. We just want you safe." She studied his face for a moment, then, "There's only one way I'll go. Tell me you don't love me. Say it and I'll walk out that door and never look back." His eyes widened, his breath caught in his throat and his head dropped. "I won't- I can't say that," he whispered. Jinx looked at Echo. "Me either." Trouble waited. "Never," came Discord's shaky promise. The Brothers nodded as if they'd expected as much.
Psycho kissed Jinx's cheek. "You know how to find us." She nodded. "We'll be fine, Psych." "Take care of these guys," said Fury. Chaos smiled and nodded. "I love you, little sister. Call if you need us," said Demon. Then they were gone. The girls watched them disappear and then were alone on the roof.
"Chaos, come inside," said Prank, from the window. She did, looking back at the empty spot where Fury had stood. She stood beside Prank as Jinx and Trouble followed her through the window. "How long's it been since you fed?" he asked. All three girls shrugged, non-committedly. "Couple days," Jinx mumbled. "I thought as much," said Echo. "You're hunting tonight," said Discord. Trouble looked at him. "What about Riot?" "We'll all be in the same area, watching," said Prank, kissing Chaos' temple. "You need to feed." The girls nodded in silent agreement.
The woods were crawling with teenagers on Saturday night. There were scattered bonfires and parties. Trouble, Jinx and Chaos joined one and proceeded to act like human teenagers, all the while moving closer and closer to the ones they would feed on.
Jinx heard a familiar voice and her head snapped up. There was Echo, Prank, Diablo and Discord, acting like they didn't know her. She grinned. Drinking beer and smoking, they passed for human all too well. "Chaos, check it," she whispered. Chaos looked up and laughed out loud.
The guys suddenly froze. Looking around, Trouble, Chaos and Jinx could see no threat. A girl with long, light brown and green eyes walked up to Diablo and placed a hand on his chest. A low growl escaped him and he jerked away. Chaos barely caught the words, "What are you doing here, Charm?"
She didn't hear Charm's answer because Trouble's nails were digging into her arm. "Look to your left," she hissed. She looked. There was Creep, leering at them with a twisted smile. Chaos reached for Jinx and caught her hand. "By the fire," said Jinx. There was Unruly, and, as they watched, Riot stepped to their side of the flames. "Shit," Chaos whispered.
All three of them were huddled together, facing outward, in a circle. Prank, Echo, Diablo and Disorder saw them and followed their gaze's to Riot, Creep and Unruly. Disengaging Charm, once again, they broke their own rule and made their way toward the girls.
Amulet appeared out of nowhere and slid her arms around Prank's neck. "What the fu-" "Miss me?" she asked, then kissed him. He pushed her away, disgustedly. He looked for Chaos, Jinx and Trouble. They were gone, along with Riot, Unruly and Creep. "Lose something?" asked Confusion, appearing beside Discord. He jumped away. "Little lost Kittens usually don't make it home," said Siren, stepping into the firelight, near Echo. "Where are they, Charm?" Diablo demanded. She smirked. "If you ever want to see them again, you'll come with us, now," Charm said, then spun on her heel and melted into the shadows of the trees. Choice-less, Prank, Echo, Diablo and Discord followed.
Trouble, Jinx and Chaos stood in a circle, facing out, once again. They were surrounded by Riot and his Pack. "Well, well, what are you gonna do now?" asked Riot. "How `bout tear your throat out?" Chaos suggested. Riot's eyes narrowed. "I'm getting sick of your mouth, little girl." "Tough shit. You don't wanna listen to me, don't kidnap me!" "Genius," Trouble muttered.
Clash, Anarchy and Trickster dropped from the trees when Echo, Diablo, Prank and Discord followed the Shis into the forest. "What's going on?" asked Anarchy, eyeing Charm, distrustfully. "They're taking us to the girls," said Echo. He pushed Siren off again. Charm slid close to Diablo. He stepped back. "Damn, bitch, back off!" "This a private party?" asked a new voice. All of them spun toward the sound. A small girl with auburn hair and blue-gray eyes stepped from the trees. "Bloodbath?" said Clash, disbelievingly. The girl smiled, slowly. "Hi, Daddy."
