There was a knock at the door and I immediately got up from the chair I was sitting in to answer the door. There, standing in front of me looking like complete idiots was Tetsu and Yuki. I had to smile at them when they greeted me.
Tetsu was his usual weird self today. He was dressed in a dark red t-shirt that was hidden under a deep green jacket. Tetsu was wearing a pair of green and black plaid pants that matched well with his shirt and he was also wearing a pair of black combat boots. Tetsu's hair was spiked out to the side like he usually had it and this week he had it dyed bright blond. The band usually made fun of Tetsu's hair, since before this I had mine dyed that color and everyone said it made me look completely different. He took off his sunglasses that I could tell they didn't do any good blocking out the sun since they were a light tint of orange, yet Tetsu still wore them to make a fashion statement, and placed them on top of his head. He was also wearing a ring that was a slim band of silver around one finger. He didn't like showing off as much as I did.
“What's going on, man!?” Tetsu said in a high pitched voice that wasn't his own. He gave me a hug and I exchanged it.
“I always love coming to your place, dude. It means that I never have to clean. Hmm. Now that I think about it, I don't do that at my own pad!” Yuki joked and gave me a hand shake walking into the apartment carrying a guitar case; Tetsu was also carrying a guitar case. In his off-time Yuki liked to play a little guitar. I have only heard him once but from what I heard he is pretty good, although he's not as good as Ken and me. So they were planning on having a rock session today, I smiled and realized how much I had missed just playing with the guys, not performing for hundreds if not thousands of screaming fans every week. This was going to be fun.
Yuki sat down on the couch with Ken and whispered something to him. Ken laughed and soon I saw Ken pulling out his pack of cigarettes. Apparently Yuki was having a withdraw from smoking. Ken took one too, and soon, my living room was filling with the smoke of the two. I turned on the overhead fan and the smoke quickly dissipated, the particles of smoke spreading out. Tetsu took a seat in one of the oversized arm-chairs and put his feet up on the ottoman, making himself comfortable. I took a seat in a chair opposite from the couch and looked at my band members.
They were completely cool and easy to get along with. Every one of them brought a unique attitude to the band. Ken brought the laid back, easy rocker vibe, while Tetsu brought the crazy, unpredictability, and he also brought some of our hit lyrics. Yuki, on the other hand, brought a solemn, depression, that gave our music a deep sadness. As for me, well, I think I brought a trendy, sexy, hypnotic impression when I sing, and I also know how to get the crowd cranked for our shows. Like I said, everyone brings something to L'Arc~en~Ciel that makes our music what it is. It's hard to really put a finger on exactly what our style is, but whatever it is, everyone loves it.
“You should have seen how that waitress acted when she recognized Tetsu and me. She was all like `Oh my God aren't you Tetsu? And aren't you Yukihiro of L'Arc~en~Ciel?' It was so priceless!” Yuki did a great impression of the waitress, with the high pitched voice and the face expressions. It was really enjoyable to watch.
“Yeah, Yuki! It's a shame that I still didn't get my milkshake, thanks to your smart ass,” Tetsu said shooting a playful glare at Yuki and they both started laughing, along with Ken and me. Even though I missed the days where Ken and I hung out, I still loved hanging out with everyone in the band and joking around.
“Hey, don't worry Tetsu! I'll take you out tonight to get one after the show!” I said laughing and he smiled at me.
“It's a date!” He joked and everyone started laughing again, if that was even possible.
“Dude, I just remembered!” Yuki startled everyone with his outburst. “Tetsu and I came up with this awesome rhythm that you guys should hear!” Almost automatically Tetsu rose from the chair and grabbed his bass guitar and plugged it into an amp that I had sitting in my living room from our earlier rock session.
Yuki started the drum line on my table and soon Tetsu joined in, letting out a few chords on his guitar to make sure it was right. The two played in unison until Tetsu broke away into a bass solo while Yuki continued with the melody. It was a great song and soon I was finding lyrics inside my head. Ken stood up and plugged his electric guitar into the amp, joining in with Yuki and Tetsu. I loved the way they played together; the way the beat sounded, the way that the music seemed to circle around me, and the way that we all became lost in our own worlds once the music took control. Soon I found myself in front of the other members, already forming the first line of the song in my mind. They knew what was coming next and they smiled and nodded encouragingly. I opened my mouth and the words just seemed to escape from my lips into a hardcore line of rock music.
“Yonjuuni kagetsu no eien ni kansha,
Jiyuu wo yurusu yasashisa,
Shinjitsu wo atae yume wo itadakou,
Kindan no aji wo shiritai?
Yuigadokuson revelation Kara wo nugase,

Soon the song ended and I turned around to face everyone. They all had big grins on their faces and were feeling the rush that we got from playing. This was an awesome song, and I knew that it would hit number one the second we released it to the public. The others put down their instruments and we headed to my kitchen. I grabbed a glass of water from the sink and Tetsu followed my example. Ken and Yuki, on the other hand, were finished with their cigarettes and decided to light another one in the last one's place. I was beat and I finally decided to join them.
“Hey, Ken, pass me one of those too.” Ken passed the pack over to me and I took a cigarette, borrowing his lighter for a second. Tetsu bowed his head in shame and we just playfully slapped him. He had always told us to not smoke, that it wasn't good for us, but we never really listened to Tetsu unless it was about a concert or something like that.
“Hey you guys want to hear a really sexy voice?” Yuki asked, blowing out a stream of smoke from his mouth.
“Sure,” Ken said, “as long as it isn't you!” At that Yuki slapped him.
Yuki left the kitchen and we followed him back into the living room where he was pulling out a CD from his coat pocket. He headed over to my large CD player and opened it. He stuck the CD inside and changed the track to the third one. Soon there was a very powerful voice that belonged to a woman, coming from the speakers. It filled the living room and the beat of the song was hypnotic; it was a long, sorrowful song. It was weird in a way, it sounded almost like our hit single of our album, Smile, called Hitomi no Juunin.
“Hey Yuki! Who is this?” I asked raising my voice to be heard over the volume of the song.
“I thought you would never ask, man! It's Do as Infinity doing Hitomi no Juunin. They wanted to know if they could get permission to do it at their concert and I had said if they let us hear what it would sound like. So they sent us this CD. Anyways, what do you guys think?” Yuki looked around at all of us and we all took our time, thinking the question over. We all nodded in agreement and Yuki did a whooping sound, giving the impression that he was victorious. “I'll call their agent later and let them know!”
