-Chapter Two-
Headquarters

Siryuu walked alone through the flow of people, demon and human alike. He was hard to believe the people of this particular sector were able to live in peace despite the war going on outside this area of neutrality. With the blend of species, he was able to wear his gear without standing out too much. His mask and blades were left in his duffle that hung heavy on his shoulder. His icy blue gaze scanned over and took each person's face judging whether they were a potential threat.

Off to the side was a woman that had been following him for half an hour now. Her presence was a nagging sensation at the back his head. He'd already gotten her features down. She had strong feminine features, dainty jaw line, nose, and wide silver-blue eyes. Her hair was cut into a silver Mohawk. She wore silver lipstick and a tight silver top. Her pants were azure blue snakeskin. A silver tail swung behind her giving away that she was something between a neko-jinn or a koneko-tenma. Either way, she was pushing her luck following him or even thinking about confronting him.

The young assassin chose to ignore her hoping it was just a coincidence. He'd like to keep killing innocent people out of his list of sins if he could help it. He continued to move through the people using his smaller stature to weave effortlessly through them. He turned in an alley seeing the woman's face clearly as he did so. He played it off without staring too long.

The alley was dark and only occupied by a few ginger cats, rats, and trashcans. At the end was a wire fence with barbed wire at the top. Nothing too compromising. Shiryuu stalked through threw the darkness effortlessly and confidently. Behind him, he could feel eyes on him.

“Aren't you a beautiful piece of work?” A growling voice came through the darkness. The words groped over the youth's pale skin. Shiryuu turned head slowly tilted to the side. His eyes scanned over the darkness for the source of the voice calculatingly all the while appearing startled.

“Who's there?” He called softly.

A demon appeared. By the tattered clothes he was wearing, he had come from the battlefields where the humans were fighting the demons refusing to coincide. He was five-eight and covered in bulky muscles. His skin was course and leathery brown covered in grey-green warts. His face was covered in warts also giving him an acne teenage appearance. His nose was large along with his lips. His eyes were small and beady.

“Hey, I haven't had human flesh in weeks. You'd make a pretty decent snack.”

Shiryuu inwardly rolled his eyes. What was with demons and giving a corny speech before killing people? That only gave said human a chance to get a weapon out, like now. The young assassin reached discreetly into his back pulling his twin blades out and slipping them in the sheath's loops on the hips of his jeans. “I don't have time to play with you.”

“You're Japanese?” A woman's voice sounded from the side. The strange woman that had been following the youth was perched high on the part of the fence that didn't have barbed wire. Her silver-blue eyes stared eagerly down at the shorter of the two. “Of course you are, with how you pronounce words with `l's' and all.”

Shiryuu only glared coolly in her direction.

“Well, I'll deal with you later, doll face. I'm busy trying to eat….er…what's your name?” The demon turned to the youth.

“It won't matter since I'm going to kill you.” The assassin said emotionlessly. He slowly unsheathed the sword at his right. The slender slightly curved blade glinted as it was twirled and settled parallel to its wielder's forearm. At the same time Shiryuu lowered himself into a defensive stance, one foot pointing forward with the other perpendicular six inches behind it. The hand holding the blade was bought to the boy's side held slightly in the air. His free hand still resting against the unsheathed blade's hilt.

“Big words for someone so small.” The demon mumbled only lifting his fists and spreading his feet apart slightly.

Oh goodie, the unknown woman thought, now I get to see what HE sees in this one. She watched merrily as Shiryuu's lithe form disappeared in a burst of speed the other demon couldn't keep up with. Thanks to her own blood, she was able to follow every move.

Shiryuu moved forward taking short rapid steps that fell silent against the dingy pavement. He circled his prey twice noting every visible vital point and two more he'd found experimenting on the job. He flexed his grip once around the hilt of his blade. It glinted giving away his position enough that the demon swung exposing him completely. The youth jumped appearing before the demon at chest-height. The demon had enough time look surprised before his throat and wrists were effectively sliced open.

Blood spilt from the clean cuts in his thick skin soaking and dripping to the ground before his body did. He stood dying and barely aware that he was wounded as badly as the petite assassin stood within arm's length.

Shiryuu watched dispassionately as the demon bled too death before he hit the ground in a blood smack. His blade hissed through the air as he shook the blood that managed to cling to it away. He then re-sheathed it noting that he'd have to sharpen his weapons before long.

Over where the mystery woman remained perched came rapid applause. Shiryuu turned towards it, the sound beating against his modified skin.

“Who are you?” He asked.

“Name's Silvie.” Silvie then back flipped off the fence and onto the other side. “Nice meeting ya!” With that she was gone.

Shiryuu stared at the place she'd been for a second before shrugging. He didn't have time for crazy women. He left the alley the same why he'd entered it having no reason to take a long route to HQ.

*Shiryuu-chan, where are you?* His mini ear com transmitted into his nonfunctional eardrum.

“I'm on my way.” He answered going through the flow of people faster than before. The sun overhead was already starting to set. The tall subway station entrance three an a half blocks away that looked to be closed down was his destination. “ETA is ten minutes.”

*Make it eight*

“Ryoukai.” With that the youth blurred upward. He flipped high through the air and on top of a low sitting K-mart building. He sprinted quickly over the flat surface jump from rooftop to rooftop. One building in particular called for him to scramble up the side leaving the first knuckle of his fingers scraped and bruise.

Six minutes later, he landed before the entrance of his destination. “Here.” He said simply looking to the side and way from the entrance.

*Nice timing, come on in*

Without anything else said, the young half demon dipped under the chain closing the subway entrance off and walked through.

The entrance was pitch-black with the sounds of water dripping in the distance. Shiryuu followed that sound with his eyes closed. He stepped over the skeletal remains of a demon he knew was there and another that belonged to a human and its family. The remains of a baby had been clutched close to its chest even in the throes of death.

Shiryuu stopped and tensed at the feel of water hitting his shoulder. The dripping stopped then signaling he was there. At the same time a low hiss of air sounded. A horizontal of light flitted through the dark tunnel causing the youth to squint and frown as his pupils drew to pinpoints painfully quick. The stripe of light grew wider and wider revealing an office inside.

The environment was clean and very technological. The floor was done in grey tile while the ceiling and was walls were white glowing with the 1000wt light bulbs overhead. Desk and people wearing white button-ups were scattered around the upper and lower levels of the complex. One person in particular called the young killer's attention.

A young woman wearing a short sleeved shirt with the top three buttons undone. Her b-cup size cleavage teased slightly showing her lacy black bra. She wore low riding black pants that bled into knee high boots. Her wide hazel eyes looked down at him as she leaned her five-three frame over the rail. The nametag on her left breast read “Claire” before her curly auburn hair obscured the view.

“Hey, Shiryuu, come on up.” She called motioning the assassin with a wave of her hand.

Shiryuu did as he was told going to the staircase silently. His dark dress among the light colors made him appear to be nothing more than a shadow. He climbed the stairs silently. People coming down barely had time to notice him until he was well behind him. When he reached the landing that led to the second platform, he caught a glimpse of Claire disappearing into one of the offices. He followed.

“You know you have another mission. This one may be a little late being that you *were* in the same room as him just a few hours again. You're to move out tomorrow so you should have enough time to relax.” Claire began already sitting down at the sole computer in the room. Shiryuu only leaned against the wall next to the door watching the young woman with an air of indifference.

“Who's the target?”

“Konogee, one of the demon lords of hell.”

“Level?”

“B-class, nothing too high, but nothing to piss at either.”

“Parameters.”

“You're to take out his lackeys if they get in your way but leave all innocent lives untouched. His hideout's not very important so you can trash it if you need to.”
“Abilities?”

“He can send his lackeys after you even in death if their head is still intact so take their heads off to avoid trouble. The blades on his shoulders are weapons along with his Orb of lost souls. He keeps the human and demon souls he's taken in there and uses their essence as a powerful attack.”

“I take it that that's what I'm after.”

“Yeah, we need to know how to work it so we can release the souls and possibly use it against the enemy.”

“Anything else?”

“Nope, go get some rest.”

“Hn.” With that Shiryuu turned leaving the room just as silently as he'd entered. He entered his room two doors down. The door hissed as it closed quickly slowing just in time to avoid damaging the door jamb.

The youth heaved a heavy sigh as he made his way to the shower. He stripped as he normally did and turned on the shower. He released his hair from its braid coming through it once with his slender fingers. He stepped under the spray letting the warm water relax his muscles and show him just how tired he really was. He let the water trickle down his scalp and skin. His unruly bangs shadowed his eyes.

After some minutes of swaying under the spray of water, he began to scrub and wash away the feel of his latest kill's hands from his body. He didn't scrub himself raw like he'd seen other assassins his age do. He merely ghosted his hand over the areas that twitched with the feeling until it was gone. He shampooed his hair quickly then stepped out of the stall.

Grabbing a towel, he dried himself off before moving to his hair. He dried enough so that it was nearly dry before moving to the main part of his room. He looked over the small room assessing the surroundings before going to the dresser next to the door. He retrieved an oversized t-shirt and put it over his nude form. He turned and crawled into bed. Once his head hit the pillow sleep pounced. He slept lightly with the feel of a 40mm under the fluffiness of his pillow.

A/N: Another chapter!! Who is Silvie? Good question…more gore to come, maybe a koi for Shiryuu later on. Haven't got a bishie made for that little part. I'll have to come up with one. Maybe I have one that doesn't have a place to call original story. Review!!
