Ch1~Fantasy Impromptu

The sky was slightly overcast but a few golden beams of the morning sun peeked through the clouds subtly illuminating the courtyard to the once magnificent Opera house with a soft and warm glow, in contrast with the otherwise gray and dreary day. Saddly, no longer was the great building a wonder to behold. The courtyard garden was over run with wild plant life and excessive ivy. For to long it's halls had been empty. No music was played and no song sung in this rundown and decaying graveyard for past stories of love and tragedy. There was one, however, that remembered this place…

A sleek woman can be seen opening the gate to the courtyard of the opera house. She looks up briefly at the old building then hangs her head, her long bangs hiding her face. Her black stripped blond hair is half tied up in a lose, low lying ponytail that is held together and entwined with what appears to be shimmering black lace and the rest flows over her shoulders down to her waist. On her arms she sports full arm length black silken gloves. Her long maroon skirt drags on the ground looking a little tattered. Her top is covered just barely by a maroon tub-top with a vertical slit proving to be a bit, revealing. The same lace like material from her hair, yet in larger proportions, is wrapped around her body and clothes. It twists and tangles in the breeze giving her an eerie appearance.

As she walks along the path the bottom of her skirt is slightly dampened by the moisture on the over grown plant life from to the rain earlier that day. She makes her way up the length of stairs leading to the huge double doors that served as the entryway to her personal sanctuary. Pausing, she places ha hand on the doors as if reminiscing about something. Suddenly, and with great force, she slammed the doors open with one swift movement as the structure creaked and whined in protest under the great strain.

Before her was a large amount of red, velvet covered seats and a large stage. In the middle of the al but empty stage there was a large object covered by a protective tan canvas that shown the wear of age. She walked up it and slowly slid the canvas off to show a beautiful shinny black grand piano, seemingly untouched by the decay around it. She delicately ran her hand down the side of the top and opened it, propping it into it's flashier upright position. The woman in lace took her seat on the ebony colored bench. She traced a few choice keys with her gloved fingers and then positioned her hands into the beginning of a sonata.

A man steps in quietly from outside. Deep brown eyes stared out from a curtain of shaggy black hair that hung in his face as. His attire consists of black slacks, a silky dress shirt that was half unbuttoned, and silver necklace with the emblem of a crescent moon as the medallion on the end of the chain . A short stub of a cigarette rested on his lips as he watched the woman's back. His face held next to no emotion. As the keys are pressed down the empty hall echo's with the sound of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. The player of the saddened song knew she was being watched, but said nothing. The man walked down the ail to the stage, but he paused as he reached it. He waited for a response from the dark woman.

Still looking only at the keys, intent on her playing she acknowledged him. "Lucian… " she continued her ministrations on the piano, but with a little more force now.

"It's been a while Lia…" he circled the woman and her piano to stand in front of her.

At the sound of her nick name she looked up at him revealing her face. She had one deep, almost black crimson red eye and one lighter clouded over ruby red eye. Four large jagged scars ran diagonally down the right side of her face, the longest of which crossed over the lighter of the two eyes. "You have no right to use such informalities with me. You are to call me by my proper name, Liantasse. I am an enemy, not a close acquaintance of yours." At this point she changed her song to a fast and more forceful song.

"Aw, Fantasy Impromptu, one of my favorites." He took the last drag on his cigarette, dropped it to the floor, stepping on it. The first I heard you play…" The song started to slow and soften.

" Why do you keep this up?" she turned her face downward to the keys again.

"What ever do you mean" he smirked seductively at her.

"You know exactly what I mean"

"I am merely run into you by accident, a chance meeting if you will. I am not fallowing you if that is what you are suggesting." He said with slight amusement.

"So you came to the place we met just to hang out and smoke a few…" sarcasm could just barely be heard in her voice.

"Maybe," his tone took on a more serious nature. "What about you? Did you come just to wallow in the past?" She did not answer his question right away she only changed her song yet again. The tune she played was a fancy rendition of Funeral March. "Still have the same grim sense of humor I see."

"….. you really do have a death wish don't you?" She stated more than asked in a deadly tone.

"No," he sighed " I was merely wondering if I am the only one who thinks of the time we shared together here…."

Her song faded from the Funeral March to Dreaming of love in A flat major. It was somewhat sad and happy in the way you feel when you remember the good times, but know that they could never be that way again. "…Leave…." One stray tear rolled down her cheek and fell on the pearly white keys.

"What you aren't going to try and fight me to the death this time." He said, bit of amusement showing in his voice.

She slammed down on the keys interrupting the soft melody of the song. She stood up and looked into his eyes from across the piano. A small flash of what could be anger in her own eyes. "You pathetic fool." she hissed. "I give you the chance to go without a fight and yet here you still stand. You really do not understand what I think of you do you? You are lucky I did not slit your throat the minute you walked in that door. …Leave before I change my mind." She emphasized her point by stretching a long index finger in the direction of the open double doors.

"I'll be back you know."

"I don't need your infuriating presence and right now I do Not care." She spoke as she turned her face away from him. Lucian nodded and walked out the door and down the path. As he reached the gate he gave a glance back then left.

'The black despair,'

'the shadow of a starless night'

'the night you betrayed me Luican'

'that shadow was thrown over the world'

'my world'

'in which I walk alone.'

She stood up from the piano and placed the canvas cover over it and walked out of her hated yet revered reminder of the past. She made her way up the path to the gate as the, once again, darkened sky let down a cascade of rain. She look slow strides and reveled in the feeling of the refreshing rain against her skin. It was a welcome release from the tention she was feeling and, for now at least, she could relax…

IVX: So what did you guys think? I'll let you in on a little secret… this is just one fanfic that will be involved in a whole world of fanfic created mostly by myself and Naomitinuveil, along with a few choice writers. After we get the first to stories up and running there will be more to follow. Characters from each story will intertwine characters and plots giving you, the reader, a feel of three dimension. The other one out there that pertains to this story is Pyro Mechanica. Check it out, it is written by Naomi and is truly a work of art for her first fanfic. I highly recommend it for that and the fact that you are missing out on all the fun of a 3-D world if you don't. Please Please please R&R.. It's the only thing that keeps us authors going sometimes.
