WHEN IT ALL STARTED

It started about three years ago. I was thirteen then and in the seventh grade. It had been a hard year and I planned to have the best summer ever.

Outside it was cold and looked like it was going to rain. I had gotten up early this morning because of a nightmare I had had for the sixth time that week. My friend had told me that when you have a dream more than once it would happen in the real world. Who ever had told her that must have been crazy.

In my dream I was in space. The spaceship I was in was made for two, but I was alone. I was looking for someone, and then I saw him. That's the person I was looking for, but before I could get to him another ship, different from mine, came down and shot him. I was sad and angry, but I didn't know why, as I went after the ship. Then, from out of nowhere another ship came and shot mine, and just before I collided with an asteroid, I woke up. It was the scariest dream I had ever had and I usually woke up in a cold sweat, or on the floor, or both.

Saturdays were always boring and there was nothing to watch on T.V., I didn't want to go outside because it was cold so it seemed that it was going to be a very boring day. My dad woke up a little while later and told me that I had to go out into the woods and clean up all the garbage that people had thrown into it. I wasn't looking forward to going out in the cold but I had to.

While I was walking through the woods I noticed a trail of torn branches and a few knocked over trees. I followed the trail until I came upon a small ship. Not a boat ship, but a space ship. It looked just like the one in my dream. I looked into a small window, but didn't see anyone inside. Just then I heard some thing behind me and turned around just in time to see someone run behind a bush. I was a little scared but I also wanted to know more about the ship and the person who brought it here. Curiosity got the best of me.

"Who's there?" I asked, a little stronger than I felt.

Slowly a boy, about my age, stepped out from behind the bush. For some reason he looked familiar to me. Then it hit me; he was the guy from my dream as well as the ship. I was scared out of my mind, but I had to learn more about this ship and him. Even though I was scared I couldn't help but notice that he was kind of cute.

"Who are you?" he asked.

"Me?" I said, "Err…I'm Amber. Who are you?"

"That's not important. How did you get here?" he asked.

I was getting confused and annoyed. All I wanted to know was what his name was and obviously I wasn't going to get anything out of him.

"I walked", I said, in the nastiest voice that I could, "Now who are you?"

"I told you it wasn't important, why are you here?"

"To pick up all this trash", I said, pointing to the ground.

Then he said something that seemed really strange to me, "Nice to see that someone else cares about this planet."

"What do mean by that?" I asked, but he didn't answer. He just walked around me and went into his ship, closing the door behind him.

Just then my little sister called for me and slowly I went home, turning around every few seconds to see if what I saw was really real.

It's not like I really wanted to go in, it's just that I had to or my parents would have come looking for me.

A week later, he had become more sociable; I don't blame him for not wanting to speak to me. His ship had gotten damaged and he had landed here by accident. He didn't know exactly where he was because his map was damaged when he crashed; all he knew was that he was on earth.

"Why do you help me?" he asked.

"Because I want to", I said, "Why do you ask?"

"Where I come from strangers are not this nice to each other."

"Why?" I asked.

"Just because. Its dangerous to trust others you don't know well"

After finishing his lunch he went back to fixing his ship. While he was behind the ship I went inside to look around. I knew everything in the ship and what it did, and with all I had seen, I wasn't surprised. I studied the controls for a long time and saw what was wrong; there was a crack in the panel. I carefully removed the panel, knowing exactly what to do, and saw a few cut wires. Just then Ian came in.

"What are you doing?! You don't know a thing about this ship!" he yelled.

"Well obviously I know more than you. There's a crack in the panel some cut wires." I said.

He came over and looked at it carefully. "How did you see this?"

I didn't answer.

"I don't get it", he said, "how could you have known so much about the ship?"

It was then that I told him about the dream. He seemed ok with it until I got to the end and said that we both died. He just stared at me looking very worried.

"I'm going to fix the ship now." He said.

That was the last time I saw him for three days. Every time I went to the ship it was closed and locked, and he wouldn't answer me, even though I knew he could hear me. Finally I got fed up with him and said I wasn't going to leave any more food for him if he didn't come out and speak to me. Slowly the door opened. He didn't come out so I went in. it was dark and smelled of hot electronics. It was strangely comforting.

"Thanks for helping." He said, "I have a question for you."

"Ok shoot." I said.

"Do you want to come with?"

"What?" I couldn't believe what I was hearing. He was actually asking me to go with him.

"Do you want to go with me?" he asked again.

I couldn't move, I was shocked that he would ask me this. He told me I had until tomorrow at noon to think about it. But that couldn't possibly be long enough. I went back home and went directly to my room to think about whether I should go or not. That night I stayed up till midnight trying to make my decision.

I woke up early the next morning and started packing my bag. I put in a few pictures of my family and about five days worth of cloths. Before leaving I wrote my mom a note saying that I was all right, but I didn't know when I would be back. I also told her not to look for me because I would be far away when she read this. Actually I wouldn't be far away until noon, but she didn't need to know that.

Around 11:00 I heard a police car going to my house. She must have called them as soon as she found my note. I was worried that they would find me so I asked Ian if we could leave early, but he said we couldn't or we would run out of fuel before we meet up with the main ship.

For the next hour three more police cars pulled up to my house. Five minutes before we had to leave I heard them start searching the woods.

"It's time to go", said Ian.

"Good, cause they're getting close", I said.

We got in the ship and he closed the door. This is it, I thought, there's no turning back now. Then, in an instant we were in space and I felt sick to my stomach.

"Couldn't you have gone a little slower?" I asked.

"What, and have them see us? No I couldn't go slower, even if I wanted to", he said.

In the blink of an eye another ship, much larger than ours, came into sight. At the same time a red light came on inside the ship.

"Were almost out of fuel", he said.

I couldn't speak. I just sat there looking at the ship in front of us. It was huge, but Ian said there were plenty bigger ones out there. Someone came on the intercom and said something, in a language I didn't know, and Ian responded in the same language. A large door opened up and we were slowly pulled in. As soon as the larger door shut Ian opened the door and we both got out.

The first thing I noticed was the smell. Nothing on this earth could describe it, but it did smell a bit like the planet Boton, which I would soon get to know very well. Boton is a small planet in a galaxy one hundred light-years away. The solar system it is in consists of twenty planets and three suns. It is quite beautiful, with its two moons, but it smells awful.

There were aliens everywhere and only a few humans. Ian took me down many passageways to what appeared to be the control room. There was no one in it when we got there.

"Don't say anything unless he asks you a question. Ok?" said Ian.

"Yeah ok." I said.

Just then the door opened and a tall uniformed man came in. "Ian has told me a lot about you." He said, "My name is Adam Smith, but you will call me Commander Smith for now. Thousands of years ago we were sent here by what you know as the Egyptians to protect this solar system. Since then we have had many alliances made with many different alien races. Every few years we must find someone new on earth to come and help us in our effort to protect this solar system. It is not just because you helped Ian, but you also seem to know a lot about our ships, which is why you will be staying. Ian will show you everything you need to know and you will listen to him. Now if you will excuse me I have a meeting to get to." And then he tuned and left. I turned around and there was Ian sitting there smiling at me.

"First we have to get you into some proper clothing." He said.

Ian then took me down the hall to a room labeled girls room, which means girls room. "I can't go in but Ill get someone to come show you how." He said. What is that supposed to mean. I know how to get dressed, I thought. Just as I was finished with my sentence a small child-like alien came in. She was about three feet tall and slightly purple.

"Hello", she said, "Now all you have to do is stand on a panel, like this." As she stood on the panel a bright light surrounded her, and as the light disappeared she was in a new set of cloths. It didn't look that hard so I went over and slowly placed my foot on one of the panels. As soon as my foot touched the floor a bright light, that seemed to have no source, surrounded me. And when the light left me I was wearing a light blue shirt that stopped just before the belly button, with a high collar that was tied in the front. My pants were also blue and had a red stripe down the side; my shoes however did not change.

Well theres the first chapter. I wrote this story like sssssooooooo long ago. It needs some fixing up. Well ok a lot of fixing up. Any way let me know what you think.
