Chapter 4

"Are you crazy? You'll get sick! I couldn't stand seeing you like that again. No way, it's out of the question." Drei said. Sil sat on the floor sadly.

"I thought you wanted one too... I guess not." Sil began to cry into his hands and Drei knelt next to him.

"It's not that I don't want one...I just can't bear seeing you so weak. This could kill you, Sil." Drei said.

"I don't care!" Sil cried. He buried his head into Drei's shoulder. "I just can't help it, I missed Zen growing up and I so badly wanted to see it!" Sil said. Drei sighed.

"If it's what you really want, love." Drei whispered.

"You mean it?" Sil asked hopefully, looking up at Drei.

"Of course I mean it. I wouldn't say it otherwise. You were right, I want a baby too." Drei smiled as Sil brightened and threw his arms around his neck.

"Thank you, Drei." Sil reached up and kissed Drei on the mouth. Drei kissed him back eagerly, prying his mouth open with his tongue. Drei leaned Sil back on to their carpeted floor, both too eager to make love to bother getting to the bed.

They quickly removed their clothes and Drei kissed his lover's neck, at the same time stretching him.

"Why are you doing that, Drei?" Sil gasped.

"We haven't slept together in a year; I don't want to hurt you." Drei said. He captured Sil's lips again and grabbed the lube from the nearby dresser. Drei put some lube onto his erection and pressed the tip to Sil's opening.

"Ready, love?" Drei whispered against Sil's lips. Normally when the two made love, they'd need a condom, but since they wanted a baby, it didn't matter.

"Always." Sil whispered back. With one quick thrust, Drei buried himself inside his lover's body. Sil arced his back in pleasure and slight pain. Drei kissed Sil again as he began to move inside him, slowly at first so Sil could readjust, then faster as Sil began to thrust his hips to meet Drei's.

As Drei's thrusts became faster and harder, Sil moaned louder. Soon, Drei reached between their bodies and began stroking Sil's erection. Sil screamed in pleasure and came, Drei followed moments later, collapsing on top of Sil, both were covered in a thin layer of sweat and panting heavily.

"Do you think it worked, Drei?" Sil asked, still panting.

"I sure hope so." Drei said. He got off Sil and began dressing. "We should go see Zen." Drei said. Sil nodded and got dressed.

The two of them headed down the stairs, Drei having to carry Sil half way because he was weak.

"Dad!" Zen said worriedly when he saw Drei carrying him. He ran up to them, Sil was cradled against Drei's chest, his eyes closed.

"He's just exhausted, Zen, he'll be fine." Drei said.

"Oh, wore him out did you Drei?" Nanashi said, walking in with Yuki and holding the baby.

"Dad..." Drei said warningly. Nanashi backed off.

"Why is he so weak?" Zen asked.

"The disease left him weak, son. That's why I'm worried about him having another child. It could kill him."

"Drei..." Sil whispered. Drei looked down at Sil. "I'll be fine...Stop worrying them." Sil smiled weakly and fell asleep.

"When will you know?" Yuki asked. Drei shrugged.

"Sil can usually tell, he can feel it. It hurt's him at first, but then he realizes what happened and he deals with it. He'll probably know when he wakes up." Drei said. Suddenly, Sil's brow furrowed in pain and he curled up in Drei's arms.

"Drei...it worked." Sil gasped. Drei set him down on the couch and held his hand so Sil could squeeze it when the pain was too much.

"How long does it last?" Zen asked.

"No more than five minutes." Drei said. Suddenly, Sil screamed in pain.

"Father!" Zen cried, but Drei told him to stay back.

"It's alright. Give him a few minutes." Drei said. Zen stood with Yuki and Nanashi and watched Sil struggle with the pain.

About ten minutes later, Sil calmed, breathing heavily but no longer in pain.

"Are you alright, Sil?" Drei asked. Sil grinned and nodded.

"I'm fine. This is it, Drei...I'm not missing this one too."

"Is he alright Dad?" Zen asked worriedly. It was nine months later and time had gone by so fast for Zen. He finally got caught up in his school work and was now at the same level as others his age. It was only a few months until school ended and he couldn't wait to see his brother or sister.

"He's Fine, Zen. How are you holding up?"

"I'm great. I'm helping Yuki with Takeo, he can almost walk!" Zen exclaimed.

"That's great. Tell them I said hi. Sil and I should be back tomorrow."

"Alright. But can't you tell me if it's a boy or girl?"

"Sorry son, Sil wants it to be a surprise; you'll see when we get there. Take care of Takeo and we'll see you soon. Goodbye, Zen."

"Bye, Dad." Zen heard the click as Drei hung up the phone. Only days earlier, Sil had had his child but wouldn't tell anyone what it was. Sil was often like that.

"How is he, Zen?" Yuki asked. He was staying over with Takeo while Zen's parents were at the hospital. Zen didn't need to be babysat, but he needed company and Yuki had offered to help. An added bonus was that Zen could practice taking care of a baby while Takeo was there.

"Dad says he's fine. He still won't tell me anything about it though..." Zen sighed.

"It's alright, Zen. You'll see them soon, right?" Yuki asked. He was alone because Nanashi was too busy working.

"Yeah...but I have a feeling that there's something wrong..." Zen said quietly.

"What do you mean?" Yuki asked. He was sitting on the floor with Takeo to make sure he didn't hurt himself while playing.

"Dad sounded...a little weird. That tone he uses when something is wrong and doesn't want to tell you." Zen said. Then he shrugged. "I'm sure it's nothing, I'm just being paranoid. He's probably tired from all that's happened." Zen smiled to show that he was alright and took off towards his room. He couldn't face Yuki, not when he was lying. It was something he couldn't do. It was harder to lie in front of his grandfathers than anyone else.

Zen collapsed on his bed and stared at the ceiling. He was glad that he had caught up on everything he missed during that year he was away. Of course, things had died down when he was gone but as soon as he returned, everything went crazy once again. People were laughing and pointing at him, calling him a fag, and so on. At least there were a few people who either left him alone because they didn't want to get involved or helped him through all the teasing until something new came along, like the affair between two of the teachers. Both teachers were fired afterwards, but Zen saw them around a few times, both male teachers as well. Zen guessed the if it had been a male and female, the school board would have been more lenient, but since they were both male, the board fired them on the spot and refused to give them teaching jobs anywhere in their area. It upset Zen because they were both really nice and great teachers but not long after they were hired at a private school on the condition that they don't openly flaunt their relationship in front of the students. Zen thought it was cruel, but when he spoke to the two men, they told him it was only to protect them from the homophobes in the area. That calmed Zen a little, but he still found it a bit upsetting.

After that little 'event' was over, things calmed and eventually went back to normal. Zen still hasn't told anyone other than his parents about Takeshi being gay. As angry as he was at his former best friend, he just couldn't see himself betraying him like that. So, he chose to let it be.

"Zen?" Yuki appeared inside Zen's room, holding the one year old Takeo in his arms. Takeo was frozen a year longer than the others so that they could find the proper dosage for him so he wouldn't die from the cure.

"What is it?" Zen asked quietly. He was no longer in a happy mood, his past just made him downcast. There wasn't much that could cheer him up. The only thing that could was his family and only Yuki was there. As much as he loved him, it just wasn't enough.

"Are you alright? You're beginning to worry me." Yuki said. He was trying to say things that wouldn't upset Zen, but it was difficult because a lot upset the younger violet-haired boy.

"It's nothing...I'm just not in the best of moods, I miss my parents." Zen said honestly.

"I know. I'm sorry that you have to wait, but...I wasn't supposed to tell you this..." Yuki said nervously as he sat on the end of Zen's bed, Takeo on his lap. The little child reaching up to try and grab his father's earring. Yuki calmly pushed the little hand down and gave him a little plushie to play with. Zen sat up to look at Yuki.

"What are you talking about?" Zen asked.

"Well...when I had the phone earlier today - before giving it to you - your father told me something...Something that is quite tragic for your parents." Yuki said, once again trying to be careful with his speech.

"What is it?"

"Your father can't have children anymore. Something happened and in order to save both the baby and your father, they had to get rid of everything that allows your father to be able to have to children. He has to stay a little longer while he heals. Your dad didn't want me to tell you." Yuki said. He was nervous about telling his grandson that this baby was Sil's last chance.

"But...That's terrible!" Zen cried. Yuki nodded sadly.

"I'm sorry, Zen." Yuki said.

"No...It's fine. Father isn't going to miss this one, it'll be alright." Zen took deep breaths, trying to calm himself. Yuki stood up when he heard something outside.

"Dry your tears, Zen. Your parents are here early, you don't want to let them see you upset, do you?" Yuki asked, smiling a little to reassure his grandson. Zen wiped his eyes on his sleeve and stood up.

"You mean it? They're here?" He asked hopefully. Yuki nodded and Zen raced to the front door, throwing it open just as his parents were walking up the steps. Drei looked up at Zen with wide eyes, a little surprised, then gave his son a smile. He moved off to the side to allow Sil past him.

"Father!" Zen cried happily. He smiled brightly and hugged his parents, mindful of the baby in Sil's arms.

"It's a boy, Zen." Drei informed. Zen smiled and helped Sil into the house to sit down, eager to see the baby.

"His name is Shiroi." Sil said. He was tired but content. Zen took a look at the baby and held back a gasp.

Shiroi's hair was pure white with midnight black tips and he had pale skin. When he opened his eyes and looked at Zen, he had obsidian black eyes with tiny little specks of white making his eyes look like the night sky, the specks shone like stars.

"He's so beautiful!" Zen exclaimed. His parents both nodded and Sil handed the baby to Zen so he could hold him. "So small..."

"He is." Yuki said, walking into the room. He smiled and grabbed his and Takeo's bags.

"It's great that you're home but I must be off. Nanashi will be waiting to know." Yuki smiled. He then left with his son and bags.

Zen was happier than he had ever been, his younger brother like a light to illuminate his dark and shadowy pathway.

Unfortunately, the happiness was only to last a short while. In only a few months, Zen's world was to be turned upside down.
