Chapter 1: The Dream
Danny twiddled his pen through his fingers nervously. `Why can't I stop thinking about it?' He wondered. Danny Ashford couldn't stop thinking about his dream. His friends called him psychic because of the predictions and started to love being right, made him feel superior. But he wished that this one would be wrong…He was showering in the locker room when it happened, male arms had wrapped themselves around his waist as he felt something hard yet soft, poke him in the back. Thinking about it now, he hoped to god it wasn't what he thought it was. The person behind him whispered something in his ear but he couldn't remember for the life of him what it was. He wasn't able to see the person's face in his dream but he was still deeply disturbed by it all.
Danny looked up at his history teacher and gave a long sigh. He let his gazed drift to the clock in the corner of the room, `Just a few more minutes…' He thought. The bell rang shortly after that, he stood up and pulled his backpack on over his shoulder. While walking out of the classroom, he noticed a group of his friends in a corner whispering. He breathed out heavily, `It was only a dream Danny boy, get over it already. You sometimes have normal dreams, this is no different…but why that? Of all the things he could dream about, why that horrible locker scene?' He shook his head, snapping out of his trance. He walked over to his friends that were still whispering among themselves.
They all looked up at his approach; Yuri quickly ran up to him and looked up into his eyes smiling. Yuri was a small girl with short black hair and auburn eyes, she looked kind of cute in that little school uniform of hers with that white shirt tucked in nicely and that short green skirt.
“Guess what Danny?” She asked excitedly.
He raised an eyebrow, “What?”
Yuri smiled wide “We have a new student here at school!! We should go make friends with him Danny, I don't think he has too many of them since he's new and all…can we? Pleeeeese?” She pleaded.
Danny rolled his eyes. He knew that if Yuri wanted something, she would stop at no lengths to get it. He sighed and muttered. “Fine…better not be crazy, I get enough of that from you…”
“Hey!!” She lightly punched him in the arm which made Danny laugh out loud. “C'mon! we'll leave the others behind and go find the new kid, then we'll bring him over to the group and introduce him” Yuri started to pull Danny by the arm. Danny gave a quick wave to his friends who merely waved back grinning. It was a simple `Better you than me thought' when it came to being dragged off by Yuri. He walked with her to the library and quietly walked in. He was still looking around when Yuri continued dragging him to a table where a young boy was sitting, doodling on a piece of paper.
Yuri smiled at him sweetly “Hi, my name is Yuri and this is Danny” She nudged Danny with her elbow.
“Oh, uh….hi…”
The young boy looked up, he looked to be around 17, around Danny's age. His blond hair was spiked up revealing golden brown eyes and a shy smile.
“Um…hi” He answered in a whisper.
Yuri smiled. “We were wondering if you would like to hang out with us, maybe show you around, what do you say?”
“Um…that's cool I guess…thanks”
He stood up from his chair, put the picture in his backpack, then threw it over his shoulder. He looked at both of them and held out his hand to Danny.
“I'm Kaden, I know my name is a bit weird…I'm not exactly from here…”
Danny smiled “It's alright, I've heard weirder” He shook his hand firmly then looked down at Yuri. “C'mon, I'm sure the gang would like to meet Kaden.”
Yuri smiled brightly at her friend's acceptance, she grabbed Kaden and ran to the library doors. Danny sighed gently and followed his overly happy friend. By the time he caught up to him, he saw Yuri showing off Kaden like a trophy she just one. He looked at Kaden, he was shy there was no doubt about that. Danny almost made Yuri have a heart attack when he snuck up behind her and spoke in a bold voice “Give him a break Yuri, you're suffocating him with all the attention”
“EEP!...Danny! You scared the crap out of me!” She sqeaked.
“Yeah? Well you scare the crap out of me at how much you can talk on one breath so were even. How about I show Kaden around, he needs a break from the attention, he'll get enough of that later.”
Yuri didn't hide her offence to the suggestion. “I was not suffocating him with attention Danny!! I just was introducing him to the guys is all, even though Kaden didn't say mu-…oh…” Yuri blushed slightly “Sorry, I guess I was a bit intense with the greeting. That's a good idea Danny, you should take him around the school. I'll stay here with the gang” She smiled brightly at him.
Danny raised an eyebrow “You sure? I think Kaden has a say in this considering he's not ours to decide about what he does and does not do don't you think?”
Yuri looked a bit taken aback. “Oh…sorry Kaden…what would you like to do?”
Kaden looked up shyly. “We'll, I am a bit lost on where everything is…”
Danny smiled. “Then that settles it, see you later Yuri” He gave a quick wave then nodded for Kaden to follow him, Kaden quickly followed. After a quick tour of everything, Danny pulled his two drinks that he just bought out of the vending machine. He handed one to Kaden then leaned against the wall and popped the top. He took a sip then looked at Kaden.
“So…what do you think of the school?”
Kaden took a sip of his drink then smiled “It's quite big, I hope I remember where all my classes are at.”
Danny smiled “You'll get used to it” Danny looked at the clock “Looks like we have two more periods left, then we can go home”
Kaden smiled once more “The day went by fast”
“Really? I thought it went pretty slow” He took another sip of his drink when the bell rang. “We'll, I gotta go. I'll see you after school alright?”
Kaden nodded then waved “See you later Danny”
“Later…” Danny started walking to his next class. It turned out that his next two classes had been with Kaden, and he made sure that the teacher had him sitting in the desk next to him both times. After the bell had rang to indicate that school was over, Danny, Kaden, and the rest of the gang met outside the school doors.
“Yes! We can finally go home!” Yuri exclaimed. “Danny, want to come with us to the Arcade? I'll beat you at Tekken this time!!”
Danny shook his head “Not today, I gotta get home…I didn't sleep well and I don't feel like staying up late doing it again either.” After a few more protests, she finally gave up.
Yuri looked to Kaden “We'll would you like to tag along? It'll be fun I promise”
Kaden glanced down “Nah, I need get home. Maybe next time.”
“Awww, alright. C'mon everyone” After giving Danny a hug and waving to Kaden, she left with the rest of the gang.
Danny gave Kaden a smile “I'll see you tomorrow”
Kaden returned the smile “Yeah, night”
“Night” Danny started walking toward his house, he got a weird feeling when he was around Kaden. He seemed…different. Not the normal kind of boy that was for sure but he got along with him so well. Danny walked in the front door of his house and dropped his backpack by the door “I'm home!” He called. After a few hours of T.V., doing homework, and eating dinner, Danny took of his shirt and pants, sliding under the covers of his bed. His room was dark, with the light of the moon shining through his window. Danny closed his eyes slowly, letting sleep overcome him…and dream.
