Teen Titans: The Scum and revival
-Chapter 1-
The Revival of an answer
Timothy Drake, adopted son of Bruce Wayne, sat in the park, all alone. Well, maybe not. “Sir,” came and aging voice from an aging butler. “I have your orange juice right here.”
“Thank you Alfred,” said Tim, getting up to accept the glass being handed to him. After just a year, Tim still wasn't accustomed to fighting alone again. “Say, Alfred,” Tim said, turning back. “How long till the main event?”
“Another year or so sir.” Tim looked down at the grass. Laughs and taunts filled his mind with merriment, but the memory of whom they belonged to made Tim's eyes fill with tears.
“Lets go Alfred, it's getting chilly.”
“Master Tim, can you run some errands for me?” came Alfred's voice from the kitchen.
“Sure,” said Tim jumping off the counter. “Where to?”
“The grocery store. The ingredients are on the fridge.” Tim yanked the thin slip of paper from underneath the coffee cup magnet.
“See ya!” he called over his shoulder as he jogged out the door.
Tim was whistling to himself, swinging the grocery bag over his shoulder. While passing a juice bar, he noticed a familiar image on the TV. “That's right Bob,” said an enthusiastic news reporter. “Terra of the Teen Titans has been revived.”
“Huh? Terra? As if Jump City wasn't already plagued enough,” said one customer.
“Why do you say that?” asked another.
“Well don't you think that the T-traitor would gravitate towards Slade again?” said the first.
“But she tried to finish him off. Wouldn't that mean she's a good guy now?” asked a third.
“Maybe the Teen Titans were telling us what they wanted to believe.” Suddenly the juice bar door slammed open and Tim was on the first customer in a second.
“You take that back!” he said through his teeth. “You take that right back or I'll make you!” Tim's fist was raised, poised to finish the whimpering man off. “Terra was a hero! The Teen Titans were always ready to accept the truth! She sacrificed herself for our safety and you call her a Traitor!?!” The man just stammered an apology, and Tim just threw across the table.
“You still have much to learn,” said ninja with a mask that was split in half. One half had a cold merciless eye, the rest covered in a cobalt-like color. The other half was black, looking like an endless pit. “Jump City was your responsibility, wasn't it?” Slade continued. “You let it down, and now it is a living hell.”
“Shut up,” said Robin, back in his old costume.
“And Terra,” Slade went on. “What will she do? If she is the answer, then you should hurry.”
“You're not my nightmare anymore,” said Robin.
“Alfred, I'm going back.”
Terra was breathing hard. Who were these jokers? Her legs had just been revived when these things came and attacked her. She was still disoriented from her long slumber. “Gotcha now little missy!” said one of the human shaped figures. Terra felt that the jig was up, and so she turned around and prepared to fight. Summoning the stones on the ground to the air, she flung them at these `men'. The `men' dodged them like experts. Terra felt the sweat drip down her chin. Suddenly, in two flashes, they were both on the ground unconscious.
“You could use some help,” said Robin stepping in from the shadows. Terra looked up at him. His face was friendly. Robin extended his hand to Terra. “I think I could help you.”
“So where are all the other Titans?” asked Terra sipping the hot chocolate Robin had given her. They were in a leaky warehouse, with boarded up windows and a small kitchen.
“Drink up and I'll tell you.” Robin walked outside for a minute then walked back in.
“Why do you keep doing that?” asked Terra, taking another sip from the mug that said “Lets all love each other!”.
“Its not a good idea to rest when you're about to go on a long walk.”
“What?”
The thunder made Terra's heart skip a beat. “Robin,” she said in a hoarse whisper. “Where are we?” Robin only shushed her. They were approaching an old looking cemetery. “Robin?” she tried again. Robin merely stopped them in front of a creepy building.
“I'm warning you now Terra. Unless you're ready, I suggest you don't come in. Try to control your emotions while you're in here. Understood?” Terra bravely nodded her head, slightly afraid of what might lie beyond that door. “Very well.” Robin's face remained expressionless. He opened the door. Terra looked in. The room inside was white. There was another door on the far end. They started walking across the room. Terra, curious looked from side to side. To the sides of the walls statues of Brother Blood's students lay. Then familiar faces appeared. Teen Titans.
“Robin, are these statues in honor of the, you know, dead?”
“No,” said Robin still walking forward. Terra let out a silent sigh out. “They are the actual people.” Terra, overcome with shock, took a step back.
“Robin, this isn't something to joke about, really-“
“I'm telling the truth Terra, and you knew it from the start, didn't you?” Terra did know, deep in her heart she did know, but she wasn't ready to believe it. She broke down crying.
“Terra…” Robin was helpless. “Terra I brought you here to see if you could revive them.” Terra looked up at Robin in disbelief.
“Me?” said Terra, still exasperated from the shock of the Teen Titans turning to stone.
“I know it's asking for alo-“ But Robin didn't need to finish his sentence. Terra already stood before the stone Beast Boy. Her hands were before him and she was calling on her deepest feelings for him: her love. She could feel herself piercing to Beast Boy's soul. “Come on, Come on,” Robin was whispering under his breath. But, Terra knew it was impossible. She knew it before the darkness closed in on her.
