2: The Puppet Master

Inside their room Raven awoke to a presence in the Tower. She awoke Crow who silently moved her to a secluded spot. He made several “Shadow Dummies” to take their place in the bed. He kneeled in a corner and waited. Raven looked across the room at Crow. With the moon shining through the blinds of the window next to him his face was lined. One line ran across the still healing cut he'd gotten not long ago.

The door suddenly burst open and a figure threw several objects at the bed. The things cut through the sheets. Black mist slowly rose through the holes in the sheets. There was a battle cry and a black shape flew through the air at the figure. The Figure pulled out another object to block the attack but was thrown from the room into the hall.
There was a loud crash as the figure hit the wall and put a dent in it. Raven stood and rushed to Crow.

“Think you hit him hard enough?” She asked looking at the figure.

“Nope. I should have hit him harder,” Crow said with a growl.

The Titans appeared in the hall. Crow and Raven gathered around the figure. Crow poked the figure with his shadow katana.

“My, my. You certainly did a number on him,” a voice said behind them.

They all turned and saw the second figure standing the darkened room of Crow and Raven.

“Who the hell are you!” Crow demanded holding his Shadow Katana to the figure's throat.

“Now, now. No need to get physical. I'm merely here to deliver a message. The end is coming, and there is nothing you can do about it brother!”

The first figure suddenly jumped up and flipped over the titans. He pulled out another object and threw it at the ground. It exploded sending up a cloud of smoke. When the cloud dissipated the two figures had disappeared.

“Damn it. I knew I should've hit that asshole harder,” Crow shouted.

“Any harder and you would have sent him through the wall,” Cyborg said inspecting the wall where the figure had hit.

“What? Then how'd he get up and walk off. Unless, Damn it all the hell!” Crow shouted slamming his fist into the wall.

“What? Do you know who those two where?” Phoenix asked.

“Yeah. He calls himself `The Puppet Master'. The other I've never met in person before but I know a little about,” Crow said as a shadow tentacle went into the room and pulled something out.

He dropped it into Cyborg's hand. Cyborg looked at it.

“Red X,” Cyborg said.

Beast Boy was confused, “So Red X is working for this Puppet Master guy?”

“Trying serving,” Crow said.

Everyone just stared at him.

“When I hit Red X he didn't sound like I was hitting a body. It felt like I was hitting a big chunk of metal,” Crow said.

“let's go back to bed and worry about this tomorrow,” Beast boy yawned.

Everyone agreed and went back to bed. The next day Crow and Raven went out shopping.

“Tell me again why we're awake at 6:30 on a Saturday?” Crow asked still groggy.

Raven just smiled at him, “Because we have to decide on my dress and plan for the wedding.”

“Which is three months away. Why are we doing this today?”

“I tell you what. If you behave I give you surprise tonight.”

“Yes ma'am.”

“Enjoy your time together while you can,” The Shadowed figure of the Puppet Master growled.

“Don't be such a downer,” a feminine voice said behind the Puppet Master.

He turned to see his other sister walking towards him.

“What do you want `Dark Flame'?”

“Now is that anyway to say hello to your big sister.”

The Puppet Master huffed as a pair of wings sprouted from his back. He took off into the sky leaving Dark Flame to watch Crow and Raven.

He's kind of cute. I can see why you like him Raven, a smile graced her lips, I might have to keep him around as a toy.

She disappeared as Raven pulled Crow into the Dress Shop. Later that night when they got home Crow stopped almost as soon as he was in the door.

“What is it?” Raven asked.

Crow pointed to a large Katana leaning against the wall. Crow looked at Raven and smiled. They found everyone in the Living Room gathered around a boy. The boy looked over his shoulder revealing his red eye.

“I knew it was you,” Crow said walking to the boy.

“I never figure you as the marrying kind Corvus,” the boy commented with a rare smile.

“And I never figured you as the smiling kind Draco,” Crow retorted.

“Sit down. We need to talk,” Draco said motioning to the couch.

Everyone sat down and Draco started, “You guys are being watched. I don't mean by Slade or some stalker. The watcher is of the demonic persuasion. He's confronted you by now hasn't he?”

Everyone nodded.

“Well he's only the beginning. I don't know who's leading them but there's a group of about five or six waiting to make there move. That move, whatever it is, is going to be big. I mean really big. I only know one thing for certain, they're looking for some kind of ‘gateway’.”

The look Draco had on his face was serious but as Crow watched he could see the joy rise in Draco‘s eyes.
