2:The First Confrontation

Raven had watched the report at least ten times. She hoped that she might find some clue as to the figures identity. Her communicator went off, “Titans I think I have a clue. I'm in the library.” The Titan's all gathered in the library were a large computer screen lit Robin's face.

“Whatcha' find?” Cyborg asked.

“This. That wasn't the first time that symbol has been seen with the that person there.”

“Were has it been seen before?” Raven had to know. She had a feeling that this person was more then he seemed.

“It started in Japan, then moved to China, then Russia, then briefly across Ukraine and
Poland. A large concentration of places in Germany, Denmark, and the UK. Finally across America till last night when this guy showed up here.”

“I believe we should try and find out why he moves around so much,” Starfire stated with a smile on her face.

“He's looking for something,” was Raven's answer.

“What?” Beast Boy was completely lost.

“He’s a demon. A very rare breed. His kind are known as Shadow Demons. They tend to do like he's doing and wander from place to place around the world. Obviously we've seen how they can move. They are very dangerous in the fact that they tend to have a hatred of all demons.”

“Why?” Robin asked, his curiosity about the boy overpowering his curiosity about how Raven knew so much about him.

“No one knows. They just hate demons,” Raven shrugged.

Across town the black figure was getting home. He walked in pulled off his coat and hung it up. He took off his shirt, threw it on top of the growing pile, kicked of his shoes, pulled of his socks and threw them on top of his shirt. He walked into the bathroom and brushed his teeth while thinking of the job Slade had given him.

He was to kill the Teen Titans, wherever he wanted, as soon as possible. Slade had consented to his payment after he had threatened to leave. 50,000 dollars was a very reasonable price for an assassin of his level.

After brushing his teeth he walked back to his bedroom where he set his alarm and went to bed. At Titans Tower the Titans were all preparing for bed.

That night Raven had a disturbing dream. She was walking through the Tower. She went into her room and found a black figure with a hood hiding his face drawing something on her floor. He stopped and she saw that it was the symbol from the bank. He stood up and turned around giving her a view of what he was using to draw the symbol with, her friends blood. He smiled upon seeing her and said, “I'm coming for you Raven.”

She sat straight up in her bed, breathing hard and covered in sweat. She looked over at her clock. It was one o'clock in the morning. She walk into her bathroom and splashed cold water on her face.

She looked at her self in the mirror, sighed and said, “Get a grip Raven. He probably doesn't know you're a demon, yet.” She went back to bed and fell into a dreamless sleep. the next day she told her friends about her dream.

They had just finished breakfast when the alarm went off.

Robin ran to it turned to the Titans and said, “Somebody's holding up a bank.”

“It's him,” the Titans could hear slight fear in Raven's voice as she said this. the Titans got to the bank and found the black figure waiting for them. His hood was up and his arms were crossed and his legs were spread apart.

“About time,” he said with a sinister smile, “I was beginning to wonder if you would show up.”

“Titans, go,” Robin shouted making the Titans scatter.

Cyborg jumped at him and threw a punch. He dodged it by jumping out of the way. Beast Boy turned into a rhino and charged him, but he just kept jumping, staying ahead of Beast Boy. When he came to a wall he jump off it flipped of Beast Boy's back and into the air letting Beast Boy hit the wall. He landed and Robin tried a roundhouse. He just smiled as Robin's foot went right through him. the rest of him dissolved into nothing.

“Did you get him?” Beast Boy asked dazed.

“I think so,” Robin answered.

“You didn't. He's become a shadow,” Raven said in her monotone, “We need to be very careful. He could appear anywhere.”

“Like behind you?” a cold voice said behind her.

Raven turned and put up a shield just before his punch connected. He drew his hand back and Raven backed away obviously afraid. Starfire started firing starbolts at him which he deflected by backhanding each one. He smiled at the shock on Starfire's face. In an instant he was in front of Starfire and drawing his hand back.

“Star!” Robin yelled as he did a flying kick at him.

Before Robin's kick could connect he had Robin's leg in a firm grip. He smiled again and started to spin Robin around.

He hit Starfire with Robin then threw both hitting Beast Boy. Cyborg changed his arm into his sonic cannon, aimed, and fired. He held out his hand and sent the sonic wave back at Cyborg taking him out. He then walked over to Raven, who started shaking.

He looked her in the eye before saying, “What are you so afraid of I wonder.”

Raven didn't answer him.

“Slade is going to have to pay me extra for having to waste my time on you five.”

Suddenly he was hit from behind, he whirled around and back fist Robin in the face.

“You're working for Slade,” Robin said through gritted teeth as he wiped away the blood coming from his nose.

“Yeah, 50,000 dollars to kill all of you. An all too easy job,” He said with a smile.

“Well we won't go down that easy,” Cyborg said as he got up from were he had fallen.

“You'd better stay down tin man, you too bird boy. Unless you want to tell me what miss
dark is so afraid of?” he said as he jerked his thumb over his shoulder at Raven.

Before Robin or Cyborg could come up with a witty retort he turned his head to the bank's door as several police cars pulled up.

“Well shit,” He turned back to Robin and Cyborg, smiled and started to melt into the shadows.

Just before he disappeared he said, “We'll finish this some other time.”

He reappeared in his apartment. “the Titan's are still alive,” a voice from behind him said.

He spun around pulling a gun and pointing it at Slade.

“You failed to kill the Titan's.”

He put his gun away before glaring at Slade and saying, “Relax Slade. I made an error.”

“Why did you run?”

“I can fight the Titans. I can slaughter the Police. I can't fight both at the same time and be expected to survive.”

“Why? You're a Shadow Demon are you not?”

“The key word is Shadow. I'm not a Light Demon. I can manipulate shadows. If the Titans knock me out of the shadows and I get shot then I may not live long.”

“And I suppose I'll have to pay you again to fight them again.”

“No. Since it was my mistake you don't have to pay me again. Now get out of here.”
Slade walked out without another word. With Slade gone he started thinking about his job, specifically Raven.

“She was pretty hot,” he thought out loud. “But what was her deal? As soon as I got close to her. Wait a minute. She's a demon, that's it. She must think I'm here to kill her. This will be fun,” he start to chuckle then laugh.
