3: the Second Confrontation

Raven sat alone in her room thinking about her encounter with the Shadow Demon Slade had hired. She'd almost died from fear. She meditated to try and calm herself for the next time he would attack. Across town he was sleeping. It wasn't a normal jumbled dream, it was an erotic dream. He was dreaming about a girl he'd seen on the street the day before. He woke up just as he climaxed and groaned.

“Not now. I'm in the middle of a job, and it starts now,” he placed his arm over his eyes and groaned again.

He got out of bed and got dressed. He put on the coat and pulled up the hood before walking out and got on his motorcycle. He rode to the island were the Titan's Tower was located. He looked at it and smiled.

He was going to have fun with Raven. Lots of fun before he killed her. He rode back to his apartment. He got back and took a cold shower. He was going to have a hard time fighting in his current condition, and he wasn't about to tell Slade that he wouldn't be able to finish the job for a few days.

Raven was having a similar dream as well. She'd finally fallen asleep and had started dreaming about him. But this wasn't like the last dream, this one was erotic. She woke up and noticed a sticky substance between her legs. She got up and took a cold shower and leaned against the shower wall.

“Why now? Why him?” she thought out loud. “I won't be able to fight like this. But what should I do.”

After her shower she went back to bed and went over all her options till she fell asleep again. She woke up and went to the kitchen were she had her normal tea but didn't really drink it.

Starfire became concerned, “Raven why are you not drinking your tea? Are you all right?”
“I'm fine Starfire. It's nothing.”

“Is there anything we can do to help?” Robin asked.

Yeah. Fuck me, she thought before saying, “No. It's nothing I can't deal with on my own.”

“Okay. But we're here for you if you need help.”

Raven nodded and drank her tea. After they finished breakfast they all went to do there own thing. Beast Boy and Cyborg played videogame while Starfire watched, Robin trained, and Raven meditated.

Suddenly all the lights went out. the Titans all stopped what they were doing and jumped up ready for something to happen. A dark laugh echoed through the tower.

Raven could sense him and knew that he was in the tower. She followed his presence until she was at the stairs to the basement. She was afraid to enter, the dream she'd had coming back to her.

“Hello Raven,” she heard his voice behind her and reeled around to find nothing there.
“Oops just missed me.”

She turned to her left, and shouted, “Where are you?” there was no answer. Then his presence disappeared and the lights came on. They found a message carved onto the living room wall.

It read, “There is nowhere I can't get you.”

the alarm went off and Robin said, “Titans we've got him again.”

They all met in the garage and got in the T-car. They got to the bank and saw him standing there like he had the first time they'd fought. When they got inside the bank they dropped into the shadows and then found themselves in Slades war room with Slade watching them. the assassin appeared next to Slade out of the shadows. He jumped down and crossed his arms.

“Titans, go!” Robin shouted as the Titans attacked the assassin.

They were all grabbed by shadow tentacles.

He started laughing, “Did you think I would bring you here on accident. Here I can do just about anything I want.”

He held out his hand and a ball of shadows formed. He grabbed the ball and it turned into a katana.

“This is my Shadow Sword. Like it?” He smiled.

He walked over to Raven and ran his finger down her cheek.

“Your skin is so soft. It's like silk,” he purred.

He leaned close to her ear and whispered, “Guess what. I'm going to save you for last so that I can have some fun with you.”

He walked over to Beast Boy and ran his hand along the blade of his sword, “Now. I have no reason to keep you or the tin man around so I think I'll get rid of you two first?”

He was hit by a green energy beam that sent him sprawling. He rolled over and glared at Starfire, who had managed to free herself.

“I was hoping to save you but I guess I'll have to get rid of you first!” he growled.

He created another shadow ball in his left hand and fired a beam at Starfire. She dodged and fired several starbolts which he dodged easily.

“You need to work on your aim girly.”

“Actually she doesn't.”

He turned around to see the Titans standing free of there restraints.

“Shit,” he said before he was pinned to a wall by Raven as Starfire fired several starbolts at him.

When the smoke cleared he was burned and cut in several places. Robin and Cyborg did their “Sonic Boom” injuring him more. Finally Beast Boy turned into a T-Rex and hit him several time. When they stopped he was bruised and beaten. Raven released him from her barrier. He crumpled to the floor and his shadow sword disappeared.

The Titans were suddenly pulled into the shadows and dropped on top of Titan's Tower. Slade walked down next to him but before he could say anything he was pulled into the shadows. He crawled to his bed pulled himself on to it and rolled over onto his back. He fell asleep as the shadows wrapped around his wounds.

“What just happened?” Beast Boy shouted.

“He must have put us here so that he could get away,” Robin said with a sigh.

They all went to bed. Raven had the dream again. She woke up again and felt the same substance between her legs she took a shower. When she heard a knock on her door she opened it to find Starfire, “Raven are you all right. I heard strange sounds and…”

“I'm fine Starfire. I was just having a bad dream is all,” Raven said.

She started thinking abut what it would be like to actually have her dreams be true. After her shower she looked at her clock. It said it was 5:30 in the morning so there was no point in going back to sleep.

After breakfast they all went about their days waiting for something to happen. They got through the day without anything happening. That night Raven dreamed again.

Slade dialed the cellphone number he was given when he hired the assassin that had failed him twice.

“Hello?” a voice on the other side said.

“You know that you failed me don't you.”

“Yeah. What of it. any operation is bound to have it's screw ups,” He got up and slowly moved toward his closet.

“I can not allow screw ups in my plans.”

“What are you going to do about it?” He pulled a duffel bag out and slung it over his shoulder.

“I'm afraid that you'll have to be eliminated.”

Slade hung up and pushed the button on a remote control and the bomb he'd placed in the “failures” apartment went off.

He jumped out the window making it shatter and landed on the side walk. He was hit by Cinderblock almost as soon as he landed. Then he was caught by Mammoth. Mammoth held him in a grip that snapped a few of his ribs. Cinderblock began to use him as a punching bag. When Cinderblock stopped he was bleeding and bruised.

He smiled and said, “You should have tried to take me on in the day. the night is my world.”

The shadows wrapped around his body and formed armor. the armor had spikes, at the wrists, shoulders, and feet. He slammed his head into mammoths face breaking his nose. Mammoth let go of him and he took of running.

The armor fell away and disappeared. when the armor was completely gone he merged with the shadows and reemerged in a place that looked like a dungeon, but he didn't care there were plenty of shadows here.
