Fourth World Travel
As the snow was falling among the streets of the white city people made their way across, up and down the main street. But on the sidewalk was a crowd, a gigantic crowd where everyone stood around a wall. A girl passed by, her hair in a long white silver braid that went down to her waist. She had a couple of books bunched up to her waist as her blue dress waved in the furious wind. She looked over the crowd with her blue eyes and walked towards the crowd. When people noticed the girl all immediately spread away and made a pathway to the wall. When the girl walked to the wall she found another girl, her eyes where blank, as if they had no emotion, her hair was black and just a tad below her shoulders. The girl with silver hair dropped her books and looked into the other girl's eyes.
“My name is Althea. Can you hear me?” She said to the girl.
Althea paused then looked to the crowd. “Does anyone know this girls name?” She asked loudly.
After a brief moment a girl came through the crowd. Her hair was a brown color and bunched into a ponytail, her dress was green as her eyes and she gulped as she looked at Althea.
“H- her name is Daray madam…” She said.
“Thank you Kali…” Althea smiled.
The girl looked shocked at Althea. She wondered as the crowd did; how did she know her name?
Althea turned to Daray's lifeless looking body and held her first finger and middle finger Daray's forehead and closed her eyes. “Daray, you must listen to me. Daray, I know you are still there. Please listen to me…” Althea said.
Suddenly a light came from Althea's hands and in a flash she was gone. It seemed Althea escaped into Daray's mind. It was pure black, nothing was around her and she spoke as if Daray was in front of her.
“Daray, tell me what is bothering you. I know you can hear me Daray…” Althea said.
Suddenly something slithered behind Althea but she did not flinch. It slithered around her and rose to face her. It rose and it was a terrifying worm-like monster. It was shaped like a snake but there was no skin and it had a huge mouth with horrible long fangs.
“So it's you…” Althea said.
Althea raised her hand but then felt something below her feet. She looked down to find vines moving rapidly below her feet. Althea gasped as one grabbed her foot, then her hands.
“You can't help me…” A voice whispered harshly.
The worm moved and revealed a girl who looked like Daray in a bundle of vines like Althea.
“I've been trapped here for years and no one has bothered, they know their fate if they even try to do what you are doing…” Daray whispered.
The worm-like snake slithered up behind Althea and gave a light hiss that sent thousands and millions of goose bumps down Althea's body.
“Not even the one whom you call your own father can save me now! Look at me! I'm just as pathetic as you are! I tried to save myself and this snake sucks the blood out of me every time I tried.” Daray yelled.
“Daray, you know you can fight it.” Althea yelled.
“It doesn't work! I've tried everything, so called, `healer'! I shall be famous to be the first to thwart you and your ways.” Daray yelled.
“Don't close your mind like that!” Althea yelled. Althea turned to the snake that she found was in a position to strike at her. Once it flung itself at Althea She took a deep breath and it flew back.
Daray gasped at Althea, she was now glowing a bright white and blue, and it seemed that the vines had no longer a grip on her body. She turned to Daray and she flinched at the bright light. Althea, however, didn't move a bit. Instead she looked above her where there where other vines trying to escape the light. She then looked at Daray and saw she was actually halfway inside a fruit tree, hanging like she was in chains with her face turned away from Althea. As Althea walked to Daray wings started to spread from behind her.
“Look at me Daray…” Althea said.
“No, I see too much!” Daray yelled.
“You will see exactly the pain you have caused everyone around you Daray! You will look at me!” Althea yelled.
Daray squinted her eyes at Daray in which suddenly turned into wide eyes. The tree that bound her disappeared and she fell to the floor crying. “I'm not worthy… I shouldn't be alive! I hate myself! I hate this world! I want death! Make it stop! Please, take the light away!!” Daray yelled as more vines tried to wrap around Daray again. Suddenly millions of trees came above the dark ground and hovered over them, as did many creatures.
Althea kneeled down and put her hand on Daray's back. “No, Daray, I'm afraid I won't take the light away. You are more important than you know Daray, have you thought about what it would be like if no one had you as a friend? A sister? A daughter? You have a good path ahead of you, do not let the rocks crumble on you so soon Daray…” Althea said.
“I don't want to go back Althea…” Daray whispered.
Althea only looked at her with care, Daray got up and grabbed Althea by the collar. “I don't want to go back! Auugh!” Daray yelled as she pushed Althea away and put her head back onto the ground and shut her eyes tight. The tree's then disappeared as the creatures gathered in closer. Daray then started crying, Althea put a hand on her shoulder and picked her up in her arms. She then started walking in the midst of Daray's mind.
In a flash they where on the snowy sidewalk again, Althea then opened her eyes and Daray made a gasp as color began to flood her eyes again revealing that they where a bright blue color. Daray looked to Althea as her eyes swelled up in tears. She grasped Althea and sobbed, Althea smiled softly and held Daray also. The crowd stood silent and then after a moment started to talk amongst themselves.
Althea took Daray's shoulders and looked at her.
“Your eyes are so beautiful…” Althea smiled.
“T- Thank you. Thank you for everything, Althea, Healer.” Daray smiled.
Althea smiled back and rose from her spot and walked into the crowd who quickly made an exit for her.
In a world that was not too far away the place had mastered everything that Althea's hadn't. They had technology that surpassed one's knowledge, they had computers, elevators, escalators, the typical machine driven world. One particular place was where a girl learned of the old world. A place many called The Big Apple. The streets where filled with many motorized vehicles and people walking on the sidewalk, most talking on cell phones. One particular girl had a backpack on and was waiting for a bus.
Her blue eyes glanced around the street looking for it she constantly looked at her watch and tapped her foot rapidly. Shortly she began pacing back and forth.
“Come on you stupid ass bus!” She yelled at no one.
Finally, as if the bus obeyed her command came up and pulled up to her. The doors opened and she hopped on. She put money in the slot that was next to the driver and skipped to one of the empty seats. It was her lucky day; she had gotten a window seat.
“It was a good thing I came here early, I would have missed class if the wait was just a bit longer…” The girl thought.
Back in Althea's world she was sitting at a desk in the window of a shop painting a picture. The picture was a portrait of herself with wings, just like in Daray's mind. She made more of these but no one could understand why. She had never told anyone about what she sees in other's minds but paints pictures of them. She lifted her brush and smiled at the picture. Suddenly the door opened and a gust of cold wind came through the opening. Althea instantly grabbed her coat and looked to the door. It was Kali with a worried look on her face.
“Healer! There's a forceful gust of wind, I think the gate is opening again!” Kali gasped.
“Go, go to your home! I will handle this!” Althea yelled.
Kali looked at Althea then ran away as Althea made her way to the door and slammed it shut. She locked the door and ran the opposite direction of Kali.
In the other world it seemed the bus driver stopped at every stop except the girl's school. Soon she was the only one on the bus and she got up.
“Please stay seated…” The bus driver said.
“I'm not sitting down until you get me to my school! I'm forty minutes late! You usually stop by the school on your second stop, can you tell me why I'm not at school?” The girl exclaimed.
“I thought I'd take another route…” The bus driver said.
“Ugh! Well whatever you're doing it's making me late! I'm getting off this damn bus…” The girl huffed.
“I'm afraid you can't do that Ronna dear…” The bus driver said.
The girl gasped and turned to the driver. “H- how do you know my name?” the girl asked.
“I've been waiting too long for this…” The bus driver smirked under his hat. He looked up to reveal he was a she. It was clear as day that she had white hair and dark grey eyes with a soft smile on her face.
Ronna gasped again and looked to the door. The lady pressed a button and a clamp went over the bus' doors.
“Heh 'fraid you can't do that either Ronna…” The lady said.
“Get me out of here!” Ronna yelled.
“No use, no one can see you in here…” The woman said.
Ronna turned around to the woman and scowled at her. “Get me off of here or else I'll…” She started.
“What? Beat me with your cell phone?” The woman asked.
“I'll call the cops!!” Ronna said holding up her cell phone.
The woman laughed. “Oh dear! She's going to call the police on me, what am I ever to do! Let's see… I'll do this!” The woman mocked. She pressed a button on the bus and it lifted off the ground. Ronna collapsed onto the ground and watched as they went through the atmosphere and suddenly into another one. They where in clouds with snow falling from every one of them, not a ray of light all around, that was when the Bus made a horrible thump onto the ground, but amazingly the woman was still in her seat and Ronna was still awake and in shock.
The woman took off her hat and revealed longer silver hair. “Whew! Man all that hair in there is making it a little too toasty!” The woman sighed.
“Who are you?” Ronna asked loudly.
“Seesh! I'm right next to you. My name is Crystal…” The woman smiled.
“Sorry I was a bit rude earlier, it was just too fun to tease you!” Crystal laughed.
“Where in the hell am I?” Ronna asked.
“Well, it'd be too cold to be considered `Hell' but this is Crystalline…” Crystal explained.
Crystal spread out her hands and bright lights formed in them. Suddenly her outfit changed into a long white silver dress with a coat over it. She smiled at Ronna and pressed a button. The doors then opened and she walked out. Ronna stumbled out and fell in the snow. She got up and saw she was on a cliff looking down on a huge old English-like town and on the far end was a castle. Crystal looked at the gaping Ronna and laughed.
“I see you like my city! Well I'll see you later then, oh and do take this…” Crystal said.
Crystal threw down before Ronna a baton, in which Ronna just stared at it, she twitched and then looked up to where Crystal was. Before Ronna could bark at her again she disappeared. Leaving Ronna stranded, on a cliff, in the cold, cold snow.
