~*~Chapter Three - Halloween Dance~*~
Disclaimer: I don't own anybody in this story so far, everybody here is somebody from the real world (namely my school), I just changed their names to protect their privacy.
The only names that I have not changed are Brianna, Kathy, and Julia.
I also do not own Yami from Yu-Gi-Oh. I just felt like putting him in the authoress notes. It's so much more fun when I get to torture somebody!
Kathy and I (in reality) have no classes together. Brianna and I have one class together (Spanish), and Julia and I have five classes together (English, Reading, Spanish, Gym, and Algebra.) Well, I'M CHANGING ALL OF OUR SCHEDULES AROUND TO FIT THIS STORY! Aren't I nice? ^-^
THANK YOU TO BRIANNA FOR COMING UP WITH THE IDEA AND BASIC PLOT FOR THIS STORY!
----------
Meira: Chapter Three... I've been slaving over this chapter for hours...
Yami: When you should be working on "Dark Magician, Meet Pikachu."
Meira: Shut up...
Yami: Or watching Runaway Jury. You yelled at your sister because you told her to put that movie in and she put in Tomb Raider instead.
Meira: SHUT UP!
Yami: Or in fact, you should be writing a lot of your other Fics that you haven't updated in a long time because you've had major writer's block.
Meira: SHUT UP!!!
Yami: I think I'd better shut up now...
Meira: Good idea.
----------
"What do you mean it was 12 o' clock five minutes ago?" Brianna asked, aghast.
"There is no way that it's possible," Kathy said, shaking her head.
"It was exactly twelve o' clock when everybody stopped talking, and exactly 12:04:59 when everybody started talking again," Meira said, trying to explain herself.
"So, at exactly 12:05," Julia said. "Everybody started talking again."
"Twelve o' clock," Meira said, exasperated. "Exactly twelve o' clock."
Everybody shook their heads, thinking that Meira must have been exaggerating.
"Look," she said, furious. "There's something strange going on here. I mean, one second, it was 12:04, and the next it was 12:00."
"what about 12:05?"
"The clock never got to 12:05!" Meira half shouted. Everybody at the lunch table stared at her like she was crazy.
"Something really strange is happening," Brianna said, lowering her voice. "Can you all meet at my house after the dance tonight?"
Everybody nodded.
***
"Meira!" the teacher snapped.
Meira looked up.
"Yes?"
"Are you done with your worksheet?"
They were in the library, working at the computers, and each person needed to do a worksheet by the end of the period.
"Yes."
"What are you doing now?"
"Looking up stuff."
"Just watch the time," the teacher said impatiently, then walked off.
Meira turned back to her screen.
"'The Curse of Wings'..." she muttered, looking it up.
"No results found?" she whispered, furious. "What's the use of having a search engine if you can't find what you're looking for?"
"What're you looking for?" Kathy whispered, leaning over.
"'The Curse of Wings,'" Meira replied. "No results, and I've tried ten different search engines and I've gotten only ten results!"
"Ten?" Kathy asked. "That's not bad for an obscure curse."
"Ten because I accidentally forgot to put in quotation marks," Meira said grimly. "All I got then were a bunch of different sites talking about crazy curses."
"Nothing on 'The Curse of Wings'?"
"Nothing."
"Looks like the internet's going to be no help," Kathy muttered.
"There is one thing we haven't searched yet," Meira said thoughtfully.
"And that would be...?"
"Don't they have a microfilm at the library?"
"Yeah..."
"We could go there tonight, and take a look to see if any weird things happened in the past... as long as this thing goes."
"Good idea, maybe Brianna's mom or dad can take us there."
"I'll take a look at some of the ghost books later too."
"Meira! Kathy!" the teacher snapped. "Concentrate on your work!"
"You search for any strange sightings in the last century on any search engine you can find, and I'll do the same," Kathy whispered.
Meira nodded.
***
"Ouch!" Meira yelled, rubbing her elbow.
"That's what you get for trying to come into the bathroom before the dance," Raina said, smirking.
"Well, EXCUSE me for going to the bathroom closest to my locker," Meira snapped.
Raina and Danella laughed.
Meira and Julia glared at them.
"Ooh, what're you going to do?" Elissa asked, coming into the bathroom. "Put a curse on us?"
"I'll put you under 'The Curse of Wings'," Meira threatened.
Raina, Danella, and Elissa cracked up.
"That has got to be the LAMEST name that I have ever heard of..." Raina giggled.
"Too bad," Meira said, shrugging her shoulders. "It's only too terrible that whoever is put under that curse will have henious skin for the rest of eternity, even their reincarnations will have appalling skin."
They stared at her blankly.
"It means that you'll be cursed with liver spots for all eternity!" Meira said sweetly, trying to sound as stupid as possible.
"No!" Danella screamed, clutching her face. "I can't!"
"No way!"
"C'mon," Julia mumbled.
As soon as they were outside the bathroom, Julia turned to face Meira.
"Is that really what 'The Curse of Wings' is?"
"No," Meira replied. "Well, it could be. Kathy and I were looking up stuff during Science today, but neither of us found anything. I just came up with something to shut them up."
"I can't believe they don't know what 'henious' means," Julia laughed. How did they get on the honor roll?"
"Probably bribery," Meira shrugged.
***
"You know what?" Brianna asked, sitting down at a table. "I just realized that this dance is stupid."
"with all these preps here," Kathy said, rolling her eyes. "No wonder it's a nightmare."
"So, any luck with 'The Curse of Wings'?"
"Meira and I looked for ages in the library, but we didn't find anything," Kathy said. "And we tried... about... oh... every search engine we could find? Meira even resorted to looking on a search engine for search engines."
They started laughing.
"Well, maybe something weird will happen during this dance, and we'll be able to find out more," Brianna remarked. "I mean, it couldn't get any worse than time freezing, right?"
"Lilith..."
"Did you hear that?" Kathy asked, swiveling around.
"Yeah..." Brianna whispered.
"What's up?" Julia asked, coming to sit by the two of them.
"Yeah," Meira added, coming up with a soda.
"You're drinking something this early?" Mike asked, coming up to them.
Meira rolled her eyes. "I wanna try something out."
"Okay," he said, holding out his friends in front of him like he was offended or something.
Mike walked away.
"What'd you wanna try?"
Meira poured out her drink.
"Lilith..." she said into it.
There was no answer.
"That's weird," Meira said, looking worried. "There's no echo."
"Maybe you couldln't have heard it over this music," Julia said, offering an explanation.
Meira shook her head. "There should have been an echo... I didn't even feel a vibration in the can."
Everybody looked shocked.
"There's definitely something wrong here," Brianna whispered.
The music stopped.
They looked around.
"What's going on?" everybody started whispering, looking around.
"Lilith..."
This voice sounded angry, furious.
"Looks like you called something," Brianna whispered.
Kathy, Julia, and Meira just sat there, looking shocked.

Meira: And yet another crappy chapter...
Yami: Maybe if you didn't put so much fluff in, it would be easier.
Meira: Possibly... MathWhiz100 keeps on saying that I have a boring chapter, but a good cliffy.
Yami: Tell her to shut up.
Meira: *exasperated* I've been doing that all day...
Yami: *sweatdrop*
Meira: Now... back to being tortured by my Spanish Homework.
Yami: Does that mean that you'll be taking ANOTHER break?
Meira: Nope. Well, on all my other Fics except for 'Dark Magician, Meet Pikachu' and 'Double Identity,' I will be taking a break. But I'll constantly update those two along with this one.
Yami: Shameless advertising.
Meira: I'll be doing a lot of that as soon as Brianna gets her first Fic up.
Yami: *anime fall* Seriously...
Meira: Yup. ^-^
