Chapter 36: Cruel Destiny and Empty Faith

Amy laid on a bed, her eyes closed, as she breathed softly, listening to a pair of head phones. It was one of those ocean tapes that were suppose to help relax the nerves and calm the soul. Surprisingly enough, even with all her stress, it seemed to be working. Her hair was let loose and it cascaded down her bare shoulders beautifully. She was dressed in a dark purple night time summer dress, which was rather revealing but comfy and cool.

She felt calm as though almost in a dream with the clouds, everything fluffy, beautiful and free.

"Don't leave me alone hear while you go off in your own free world, Amy."

The girl opened her eyes, snapping out of her dream and staring into the smiling face of Kim who leaned over her. In return she smiled back, caressing her face with her hand.

"Don't worry, I wont leave you alone, as long as you don't leave me alone."

"It's a deal."

"....Kim, what are we going to do about him?"

"........We'll take care of him soon, don't worry."

Ryan sighed drearily. "I don't believe this....as soon as he wakes up he is kidnapped by those two pathetic excuses for orb holders..." with a growl he slammed a fist into his other hand. " What's even more pathetic is the fact I have no idea how to find him!"

The group was in turmoil. Everything was chaotic, Mimi was taking a fit, and everyone's sprits were dropping rabidly. What was Kim and Amy going to do to him? If they were willing to sacrifice the lives of three more innocence's, like they sacrificed Cid for his goddess stone fragment, then there was no telling what they would do to Genki.

"If only there was something I could do to find where they had taken him...damn! I'm so useless!!"

Suddenly as if in responde to his distress, the talisman of light around his neck began to shimmer, and a burst of light erupted into the sky, just like how it did when they were being led to the orbs. Everyone in the group noticed it at the same time, and stared at it baffled before their faces became sat in hard masks of dertermination. Turning to the group Ryan spoke seriously, sounding like a true leader.

" Guys, lets go get Genki back."

Lexy was in the progress of setting up her plan, an sour expression placed on her face.

"I was defeated every time, Rose and Tommy turned their backs on me, I've been mocked more times then I want to count about being an android, and I'm on my last chance." Suddenly she grinned as she looked at the line Androids she had prepared for battle. The androids all once were Angeles citizens.

"But I wont fail this time, the goddess stones will belong to me, And when I contain it's power, I'll be even stronger then Saiyoua herself, then I will rule the worlds of earth and Gaia."

Genki moaned painfully, to sore to open his eyes, but he could feel Kim's icy presents over him, as will as an cold blade of a knife pressed to his neck. He didn't say a word, knowing that if Kim were to hear the fear in it that she would cut his throat instantly. He felt her pause, sigh and move the blade away slowly. Gladly he listened as she walked away and left threw a door, which she left part way opened, allowing a little light to flood into the other wise dark room.

Opening one of his eyes, the other being too swollen and painful, he gazed around himself. The room was plain and rather large, huge fish aquariums made up the wall, blue light shining down on the glass as the fish inside, all colors and all shapes and sizes swam around happily. He whimpered, trying to move his hands and legs but found himself bound and unable to move. He wiggled around desperately, trying to loosen his hands but it wasn't any use. Then in the blue light that aquariums gave he saw the knife Kim had thrown onto the floor. Knowing that this may be his only chance, he bent over, grabbing the handle of the knife in his mouth, and raising his tied up hands as close as he could to his mouth, and began to saw the thick rope with the sharp edge of his only chance to free himself.

Kim sighed sadly, setting on the window cell, looking outside the window at the street below where little children played, giggling happily fully ignorant to the danger they, no, the whole world was in. Still that was not what brought the sad look to her eyes, as she continued to watch them.

Amy walked into the room, after taking a bath, skin and hair still damp, wearing a simple white bath robe. She paused, and frowned concerned as she saw the troubled and shameful look in her partners eyes.

"Kim, what is it? What's wrong?"

The other did not answer but instead turned away from the window and raised her hands to her face.

"See those children out there?"

"......."

"This mission has really dirtied my hands...I know in my heart that if one of those children had a goddess stone I would kill them, even if they fell to their knees and begged me not to."

"....."

"I killed Cid, with these hands to get his goddess stone. Sure he gave me permission, but I could see in his eyes that he didn't want to die, but he knew he had to. He accepted his destiny the day he became the guardian of the light, but them..." Kim took another glance out the window. " If I had to kill someone who never accepted such a faith, if I had to kill a child in cold blood....I know I would still do it. My hands are tainted, and they will always remain so, even after we save the world."

"...."

Kim laughed icily. "I'm prepared to kill innocent children if I had to, but I just couldn't kill him, someone who might end up destroying this world....I just couldn't bring myself to press that knife deeper..."

"....Kim...."

"Hm?"

Amy stepped forward taking her hands in her own, and playing with them delicately, before holding it softly in her own.

"Kim...Your hands look clean to me."

"Amy...."

Ring, Ring, Ring

Both women turned towards the phone which rang, but neither of them went to answer it, and continued to stare at each other, hands still embracing, speaking silent words to each other.

The answer machine beeped as an message came on, and Lexy's sour voice broke the silence of the room.

" I know your there! Pick up the damn phone....well, fine, just lesson then, I have found two of the Goddess Stone holders! Are you surprised? I have them held captive right hear in the Sanctuary of Key, which I'm pretty sure is in the middel of the ocean near the town your staying in. How I know that, well, let's just say I have my ways. So do you understand what I am saying? I will rule the world, all your efforts were in vein! Hahahaha!!"

Beep. The answer machine cut off, Kim and Amy just stared at it as the phone rang again and Lexy came back on, growling angrily.

"Your stupid answering machine cut me off before I was done!! As I was saying, your efforts were in vein, but they don't have to be. You know, I am pretty sick of serving that whore Saiyoua, we can team up together and over throw her, but be aware that after that we will fight for the goddess stone. But I am woman enough to admit that I will need help to take out the dark goddess. Are you with me? You do want to save this world, don't you? Well, think about it! I'll send you a map to the sanctuary, Incase you have problem finding it's location. Ta-ta!"

Beep. Kim and Amy were still silent, but faced each other and simply nodded their heads.

Genki who had freed himself and who had heard everything that had happened from the moment of the phone call, paled and hid behind the door, knife poised to strike when needed.

`I don't believe it...they got two of the goddess tones...they have one...all they need is one more and....oh god....I can't let them go there....they'll let the stones fall right into Saiyoua's hands....This is terrible, Oisa can't be summoned, I wont let this world be destroyed....Messiah, help me.' His fist clenched around the handle of the knife tighter, arm trembling.

"We have to take care of one thing before we go, Amy." Kim informed, approaching the room they believed Genki was still tied up in.

"Right."

They entered, and gasped to see the rope cut, laying abandoned on the floor and their prisoner gone.

"What the--!?" Kim gasped.

"Damn it, where is he!?" Kim cursed.

"YAHHH!!" Genki cried out, leaping at the boyish woman with the knife, allowing her only seconds to dodge. He swiped at her desperately, but she dogged each blow.

"GIVE IT UP!" Kim snarled, still dodging the knife.

"I WONT LET YOU HAND THE GODDESS STONES OVER TO SAIYOUA!!!" Genki snarled, taking an angry swipe, which slashed the woman across the face. She blinked confused, touching her cheek which was bleeding. The baffled expression soon turned to anger as she tossed the still weaken boy to the floor with an mighty kick. He crashed to the floor with an sharp cry of pain.

"You fool! Stay out of our business, your lucky I spared you the first time, but I wont this time." Kim picked up the knife and pointed the end straight at his heart as he tried to lift himself up. His eyes filled with shock and fright as the point of the knife pressed against his skin. They stayed frozen like that for a few seconds, one was in the progress of pushing himself off the floor, the other kneeling down over him, knife poised to strike his heart, it was just a few seconds, but it felt more like an entirety.

"What are you going to do, kill me?" Genki found the courage to ask.

"That was the plan." Kim answered simply.

The boy just closed his eyes, knowing it was useless to struggle, it would just be in vain. He waited for the cold steal to slice threw his skin and stab his heart, for death to cradle him in it's arms and end his future and his dreams. The pain did come, but not in the chest, in the neck. His eyes fluttered open with an gasp, and fell into a sleepily faint as the world grew fuzzy then dark.

Kim got to her feet, throwing the knife to the floor with an loud clatter, and in her other hand, she dropped a needle, in which she had hidden to the floor.

"I said, was. Let's go Amy."

"Is he going to be all right?" She asked, looking down at the unmoving body.

"He'll be fine, it was only an mild poison, it's not strong enough to kill someone with Saiyoua's blood in them."

"Ok then, let's get moving, we'll take of him more thoroughly later."

Ryan froze, suddenly feeling sick and pain was stringing threw out his whole body.

"Rya!?" Mara asked startled.

He gripped his head, feeling intense pain, before his eyes snapped open.

"Oh god...."

"What is it?" Alex asked, calmly.

"I sense something horrible is happening right now....I .....I think Saiyoua has found a piece of the goddess stone!"

"What!?" Lemon gasped, eyes widening. " We can't let it fall into her hands...I seen the power that stone has! If she gets her hands on it, we are all as good as dead."

"What about Genki?" Mimi asked, worriedly.

"I know the goddess stone is serious business, but....something tells me we should continue looking for Genki."

"Are you sure...?" Colt asked quietly. " I mean the reason why we are fighting is to save the world....isn't that why we are fighting?"

"Yes, but Genki is part of the world, and we are going to save him!" Carrie exclaimed, while Colt just blinked confused.

"Come on guys, we have to hurry!" Ryan exclaimed.

Kim and Amy stood infront of the Sanctuary staring up at the beautiful and huge castle shaped building, on an small island in the ocean and little ways from the village. the walls were made of gray marble an statue of Key stood a top of it, hand raised to the key, as though summoning some blessed angel. The sound of the waves pleasantly crashed against the rocks, as though singing a song of memorial for the brave duo whom were about to risk their lives in what they was to be a trap intended to kill them, but if what Lexy said was true about finding the two who hold pieces of the goddess stone, they couldn't ignore it, dispite the danger.

"Well hear we are, in front of the place which may turn out to be our graves." Kim spoke calmly.

"Kim remember our promise, if one of us dies, the other will gather the rest of the stones."

"Of course, nothing will stop us from completing our mission, no matter who it is we must sacrifice, and even if we are on our own."

Amy smiled. "That is what I wanted to hear, come on Kim, lets go embrace faith."

Everything was dark, Genki groaned weakly, looking around himself but spotting nothing, but then he saw a light, almost like a sliver star appearing out of the darkness.

"Will you try and save them?" And sweet and very familiar female voice asked him, it was as lovely and soothing as a dove's song.

"......."

"They are in great danger, but then again I see no reason as to why you would want to save them. After all, they do want you dead."

"Dispite their feelings towards me, I can't stand by and watch as people die...."

"You are to weak, to save them as you are now...but you have proven yourself worthy of being the one of innocence, just like I knew you would be, my little one. If you agree to your faith then I shall grant you a new power, one that may end up saving your friends in their time of need. Do you accept?"

"What is my destiny, what is my faith?"

Genki's eyes filled with tears. " I understand....but if I can save my friends then I would accept anything."

"Understood your eyes and heart are clear, innocent one, I would choose no other for this job, not even the guardian of light has enough innocence, besides this is not his faith, but yours."

"Ok...Messiha...."

Genki opened his eyes, tiredly and confused at first, but then suddenly remember everything and sat upward, an new strength coming to him.

"I know what I must do, I just hope, I wont be to late."

"She invites us and she's not hear to great us." Kim laughed as they walked down an empty and dark hall way of the Sanctuary. Suddenly they heard footsteps approaching and out of the darkness saw five androids approaching. Two of them were women the other three were men. They knew they were androids from the empty and soulless looks in their eyes.

Amy smirked. "But it seems she sent some of her other guests to greet us."

Kim returned the smirk. " Shall we?"

"But of course. ARROW OF FAITH!!"

"DESTINY'S FORCE!!"

The attacks struck the two women, sending them reeling backwards, but was still able to fight.

The androids were slow and mindless, all five of them only getting an total of two hits on Kim and six on Amy. They were soon destroyed and taken care off, laying broken and dead on the floor.

"Piece of cake! Eh, Amy?"

"Ahhhh!!"

Fear seized Kim's hear as she twisted around and saw that an stone from the wall had moved and had struck Amy, magically trapping her onto the stone as it disappeared into thin air.

"AMY!!!"

Haunting music played all threw the sanctuary wall, and Lexy's voice laughed mockingly along with it, adding to it's already gruesome sound.

"You fool! Now that I've got Amy, a piece of the goddess stone is securely in my grasp. I hate to break it to you, but you precious love is the holder of one of the Goddess stones, and now it belongs all to me! Hurry if you want to save her, hurry to the top floor, I'll be waiting."

Kim could feel herself, shaking, before she broke off into a sprint, running towards the hunting music, heart beating hard in her chest.

`Amy can't be an holder of an Goddess stone! I wont accept it!!"

Genki arrived infront of the huge sanctuary, breathlessly. He could sense that something horrible was about to happen. He panted tiredly, before crossing himself, and bowing his head. "Messiah, grant me strength!" and with that he ran threw the dark passage way into the now dark sanctuary of Key.

Kim did not know how far she ran, but dispite the aching pain and the tiredness of her body, her burning lungs gasping for air, she refused to stop, not until she reached Amy. The door to the top floor was nearly in sight and she ran threw them, with an gasp of breath, long denied. The haunting music almost made her go deft , and dizzily she looked around herself. The room was large, there was stained glass of the three goddess, and a large bridge leading upwards towards an church organ on which Lexy played the haunting tune which plagued her. On either side of the bridge were long drops, they appeared endless, but then again this sanctuary was fifty stories tall. On the walls on either side were red cupid statues, placed sideways on the walls so they stuck outward. Looking forward again, Kim felt terror grip her heart as she saw Amy, with her eyes closed, unmoving, stuck to the stone on which she had been captured on, magical stone vines, which had wrapped themselves around her arms and legs. She looked like an sacrifice, waiting to be offered, hung upon a stone like Jesus was hung apon the cross!

Lexy did not seem to notice her presence even as she dashed forward, screeching Amy's name.

Unnoticed to her, little slits, three in each statue of cupid, opened up, and arrows suddenly burst forth from them. Kim, not expecting the attack was pierced by arrows coming in at her in all directions, shooting threw her body, causing her to crash to the floor with a scream and lay in a pool of her own blood.

"Got ya." Lexy laughed, turning around, brushing her hands together, before turning and shutting of a tape player which had been playing the haunting music all this time, not the organ.

The android walked towards her smugly. " Were you really that stupid? Didn't you know that if anyone, besides myself were to walk across this bridge they would be stopped?"

".....Let...Amy...go..."

"Oh, isn't that touching, but don't worry, I wont kill her right away, first I want to recover the other goddess stone. The one hidden inside of your own body."

"....That is impossible. the holder of the goddess stone has to have an clean soul....so you see, it is not possible I am one of it's holders....."

"We will see, but of course I am the only one who will see if I am right, because you are to wounded to survive! Say hello to my sister's for me!!"

Lexy prepared to charge up her soul crystal stealing magic when an cry echoed threw the room.

"KIM!!" Amy screamed breaking free of her restraints and rushing forward, hand out stretched towards her. Kim's eyes widened, in pure horror, her whole body going numb.

The arrows from the cupid statues struck, causing Amy to be thrown back and forth like a ragged doll, as arrows from both sides struck her, causing her to cry out in pain. She fell her knees moaning hoarsely in pain, before forcing herself back to her feet, still intent on reaching Kim. In her ears she could hear the cupid statues prepare to strike again.

"AMY STOP, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!" Tears ran down Kim's face as she cried her desperate plea, but still as Amy took another step forward, more arrows struck her already battered body. She was wobbly, barely able to keep her eyes opened, as her blood dripped onto the floor, Lexy backed up fearfully as Amy got closer, looking towards the statues hopeful that they would stop the holder of faith from approching. They smoked, but no more arrows were coming out.

"What!? Out of ammunition!?" She squealed, before turning back fearfully to Amy. She wobbled, no longer able to stand, and feel weakly onto Lexy's shoulder, slowly dying from the wounds and the blood lost. Not wasting this opportunity, Lexy blasted out Amy's soul crystal which glowed brightly and hung in the air as it's owner crumpled to the floor, unmoving in a heap of her own blood. The soul crystal transformed into a blue stone, shimmering in the air.

Kim laid broken on the floor, bitter tears falling down her cheeks. "Amy....why? Why you of all people...?"

Lexy turned dispassionately towards the bleeding woman, barely alive. "Now it's time to take the goddess stone inside of your soul, say goodnight and join you love in death."

Kim stared up at the stained glass, vision already fading. ` I understand now...Both of us contained an goddess stone...and now we will die because of it! What a cruel destiny...and such an empty faith, is their no refuge?"

Almost like an illusion and ray of light shone threw the stone glass, making an rainbow image of a beautiful winged goddess appear in the beam of moonlight which shone threw the glass. It was so realistic that it appeared to really be standing there.

"Messiah, the goddess of the life stream...has gone to take Amy and mine's soul..." Kim whispered faintly, but before her eyes which widened the image of Messiha disappeared and was replaced with Genki who stood horrified in the door way. Catching his breath quickly he took one look at the two forms of Kim and Amy laying in pools of their own blood and screamed in anguish, charging forward, catching Lexy's off guard as he slammed into her, throwing her away from Kim's body, but also over the edge of the bridge. With a frightened cry, she grabbed onto the ledge, desperately trying to pull herself up, shoes scrahcting against the wall, as they tried to find a ledge to pull herself back onto, fear evident in her eyes, as her body lip trembled. She did not want to die.

"Tenli, orders from mother, dispose of Lexy, she failed." Keith informed the brief scientist, before quickly leaving the room, unconcerned.

"As you wish." Tenli accessed the computers and going on to a program which was linked to the data files in Lexy's android body he pressed a few buttons, a few buttons that would easily end the life of one of the most heartless creatures in the world.

She had almost pulled herself back up to safety when Lexy's eyes went huge as suddenly, by themselves, as though being a doll controlled by an child her fingers let go of the edge and she plunged to her death, a scream being the last the thing to ever leave her lips as she fell into the darkness. Unlike her sisters whose souls would still live after death, she was gone forever, never to exist again, for a machine can not have a soul, and a machine was all that Lexy Cameron was, ever since she sold her soul for beauty and power.

Genki turned to Kim, sweat pouring down his face, tears in his face. "Oh god Kim, hang on!" He knelt down beside the battered body, and placed his hands on her heart, glowing sliver. Her wounds healed slowly and color returned back to her face, however she was still in lots of pain both physically and emotional.

Sometime later

Crying Genki was desperately trying to heal Amy and return the goddess stone to her soul, but nothing would work...she would not breath.

"Please, goddess stone go back into Amy's heart." He begged, trying again, but to no use.

"Leave it alone...we found one of the goddess stones we were searching for."

Genki turned to Kim shocked. "NO! WE CAN'T LEAVE HER LIKE THAT!!"

She did not answer but instead threw the golden piece of the goddess stone which came form Cid to Genki, skidding it across the floor.

"Hear take it, it caused us so much problems, as so much lost. Oh, Amy, why did you have to go back to your own free world again."

Genki's eyes widened as Kim placed her hand on her chest, he knew what she was going to do, and instantly he leapt forward, hopeing to stop her, gripping her arm in a desperate attempt.

"NO!! DON'T DO IT!!"

"LEAVE ME ALONE!!"

"STOP!!" Genki looked up at her tearfully. " I believe that we can save the world without having to use the goddess stone, please trust me and my friends, if I can't do it, then Ryan can. Please just trust us, we don't have to sacrifice anymore lives. Believe me."

Kim stared at him sourly before smiling, relaxing a little. " You really aren't bad are you?"

"Hm?"

"When I look into your eyes, shining so clear with innocence and courage I can't help but start to believe what you say is actually possible."

"Kim..." Genki loosened his hold, relived.

Pausing but a moment, she suddenly gave him a forceful shove, sending him crashing backwards on to the floor. He pushed himself up in a setting position, eyes wide with shock and fright as Kim spoke.

"Genki, it's up to you and your friends whom you trust so much to find the last goddess stone and save the world."

"KIM!!" He cried out in protest as she once again placed her hand on her chest and with an simple blast of magic directed at herself, her soul crystal floated out of her body, changing into a red stone as it hung in midair. Eyes dimming, Destiny joined Faith, laying dead among side of her lover, partner, and her one and only friend.

"NOOOOOOO!!!!!" Genki cried pounding his fist on the ground.

Ryan and the group chose that moment to run into the room and stopped dead in their tracks as they saw the tragic sean that awaited them. Both Kim and Amy laying in bloody heap on the ground, pieces of the goddess stone floating above their unmoving bodies and Genki, sobbing in an heap on the floor, pounding his fist on the gray granite.

"WHY!? WHY!? WHY!? WHY!? WHY!?" He cursed bitterly, while the rest of the group just watched with tears in their eyes and sad expressions. Finally regaining he senses, he looked upward, tears still shimmering in his eyes.

".....Amy......Kim......"

"Saiyoua..." Taromecika whispered, stroking her hair, lovingly. " They now have three of the goddess stones...shall I take it from them for you?"

"No...let them find the forth, I have another way to get my hands on it, which will be much more fun."

"If you wish, my love, but now with Lexy gone, whom do we have to send to gain Magention?"

"No need to worry, our new ally is right hear, please step forward."

A strong built man, with shoulder length slivery blue hair and ice blue eyes stepped forward, pale skin and scars slashed across his cheeks. He wore a simple white shirt and jeans, yet there was nothing simple about him, you could sense it.

"Who is he?" Taromecika questioned.

"Koh, Koh is my name, I will be happy gather the Magention you desire, from all those worthless humans, and from the fallen angel, Samantha, angel's grant lots of Magention. I will kill anyone you ask me to, anyone except for one person."

"Oh and who is this person?" Saiyoua questioned.

"The only one who has ever kind to me, my whole life."

"Very well. Go on now, kill to you hearts desire."

"With pleasure."

Koh walked away from Saiyoua, darkness seemed to fallow him.

`I will gladly kill everyone in the world, except for you my dear and only friend, Alex...'

"Lucifer." Saiyoua clapped her hands, an devil stepped forward from the darkness, bowed on one knee. Lucifer the king of devils, the supreme ruler of hell, where souls which poisoned the life stream went when they died. A proud and evil man, who like all other things of darkness was under Saiyoua's command.

"Yes mistreat, Saiyoua?"

"You sure he is under your control?"

"He has signed an contract, sacrificing his soul to me in return for the power to have revenge, and if he does betray me, then I can easily destory him and complete his duty."

"Then everything is perfect." Saiyoua smiled, an sadistic grin.
