Prologue
As the sun set in the fiery red sky a young man, about the age of sixteen, rested his hands upon his ships railing. His blonde hair blowing in the wind as well as his navy blue cape wrapped around his muscular shoulders. His face, though fair skinned, had a scarred marking near his right side below his eye. Some said it represented his great courage, but others, his lack of skill against his older brother whom he had received the scar from. His eyes, a light hazel, matched the dark tents of the ocean sky before him. The day had been long, but his journey was just beginning.Several miles in the distance of the vast widespread ocean waited his father and mother, worried about him, for he had left without their consent in hopes of restoring the nation his father ruled over. Several years before, when he was born, his brother had betrayed his father and sided with their enemy. The Ice Dragons. A ruthless, cunning nation, taught from a young age to fight against any and all forces that dared to oppose them. His selfishness and greed led to the destruction of many of his fathers towns. The nation was crumbling fast and they needed a savior to fight against the opposing force or all would be lost for the Fire Dragons.
“Young Prince, we are now exiting the Fire Dragon Kingdom,” announced one of the Princes head crewmen..
“Don’t call me young price! I have become my own person now!” The prince yelled as he turned to his crewman. His eyes no longer hazel but a fiery auburn. The crewman cringed at the towering prince who stood just a foot taller then him. The prince suddenly lightened his eyes and his anger began to fade. “You shall address me from now and forever more, as Captain Ducharme.” The crewman bowed his head in agreement and returned to his post on the ship.
The prince, now known as Captain Ducharme, turned back to the now darker sky and the calm yet almost blazing ocean. It’s waters calmed him, even though in his heart he knew he was apart of a nation of Fire Dragons. But was it possible that one could find comfort within other dragon types besides his own?
Each kingdom of dragons or dragon keepers, as they were more formally known as, had a special ruling over a certain type of dragon. The dragons were used in war against opponents, but could only be had if a dragon keeper were to create one inside of their minds. The dragon took several years to grow, but if a dragon keeper kept at it, with acts of either good or evil, each determining what the dragon would be like, the dragon would eventually hatch from the dragon keepers mind and become a real dragon, able to become apart of the real world and a spirit dragon when it choose to be housed within the mind of it’s keeper. Dragons will only obey their keepers, but are sometimes captured by others and brainwashed to do their bidding.
Ducharme closed his eyes for a brief moment and felt the last of the sun rays hit his face. Yes, he was truly a Fire Dragon keeper, he could feel it within his very being, heart, and soul. His dragon was strong, and would become even stronger with the days to come. The fire of the Fire Dragon flowed within his blood and so did vengeance. Vengeance against his terrible brother, the one who betrayed his nation and his family. He would find his brother, and he would fight the Ice Dragon kigdom. The only problem would be in numbers. He had several hundred men fighting for him, and they were all skilled Fire Dragon fighters, but he needed more of the elements. He would need to visit the other kingdoms of dragon keepers and ask them to aid him in his quest. His only fear was of not recruiting enough fighters in time to save his fathers kingdom. Time was running out, and help from every known element on the planet was needed.
