“This is the last house. Kill those that are inside, and we will be together. Just think, after everything you’ve been through, you’ll finally be able to bring me back. You’ll finally be able to hold me again. We’ll finally be together. All you have to do, is kill them all.”
Those were the words Alex heard as he entered the last house.

“Okay, this is where we split up. Shadow, you go with Yaza and Scriar’s group. Aurora will accompany me and my group,” Raion said.
Shadow reluctantly nodded, knowing that is was far too late in the game to stop now. “Fine, but Raion, I’m trusting you to take care of her.”
“Don’t worry, she’ll be fine,” Raion promised.
Shadow then turned his attention to Aurora. It was obvious to both, how nervous the other was. Each one was afraid of the unknown. Afraid of what they might find the further they dug. They knew they had almost hit the bottom. Now, all they had left to do was break the surface. The two demon’s embraced each other for what seemed like an eternity. Neither really wanting to let go, but each knowing that they had to. When they finally separated, it was as if the finality of their decision had finally come into full effect.
“I love you. Please, be safe,” Shadow whispered.
“I will. Don’t go and get yourself killed on me,” Aurora replied with a small smile. “I love you, Shadow. Please, be safe.”
After allowing them their final goodbyes, Raion was ready to continue their march. “Yaza and Scriar, you two take the northern part. We’ll take the southern part. Now, let’s move out!”

In a castle far away in the Southern Realm, a demon stood staring out a window. “So, it’s finally beginning. I hope that everything works out for the best, but still, take care lad.”
Kiba turned away from the window, unable to focus on the battle that he knew was destined to take place. Either way he would lose someone dear to him. Either way, the entire realm would change with the outcome of this battle. “Celeste, maybe I’ll be joining you soon enough.”

Alex kicked down the door to the last house. His mind was completely gone by this point. Consumed by the evil that surrounded him. His glassy white eyes couldn’t make sense of the terror stricken faces that stared back at him as he entered the house. His eyes took in the forms of three people. A young boy, an older lady with shoulder length brown hair, and a small girl of whom he could not see, but he could sense her presence beneath the folds of the woman’s cloak. Alex barely registered the movement of the boy, who reached for a large knife laying on the table. Had Alex been of right mind, he probably would’ve commended the boy for standing his ground. As it was, this boy’s actions only pissed off and enraged Alex further. The boy now stood between Alex and the two women.
“S-stay away from my mother and cousin you monster!” the boy nervously yelled. His hands were shaking from fear, making it to where even the blade on the knife shook.
Something between a laugh and roar escaped Alex’s lips as he continued walking toward the child. “Fool, you do not know who you are messing with.”
The young child acted without thinking. His desire to protect his mom and cousin, led him to act on instinct. He lunged at Alex, his knife aimed for Alex’s chest. In a blur of motion, Alex backhanded the knife out of the boy’s hand. The boy stumbled backwards from Alex’s attack. The knife was embedded in the wall to his right. Alex could tell that the boy was trying to see if he could make it to the knife before Alex could. Having his mind made up, the boy quickly ran toward the knife. Before he took four steps, Alex’s right hand came sailing toward the boy’s head. With inhuman strength, Alex ripped the boy’s head right off of his shoulders.
“No, Jacob!” the mother cried.
Alex dropped the boy’s head on the floor and turned his attention toward the mother. The mother never once took her eyes off of him, but one of her hands was moving frantically behind her back. It was as if she was searching for something. Alex slowly started to walk toward her, but it wasn’t until he heard the distinctive sound of a latch being opened, that he realized what the woman had been searching for.
The woman suddenly fell through a side entrance to their house, onto the dusty and blood soaked dirt of the town square. She quickly got up and started to run away from Alex as fast as she could.
Alex just stared as the woman ran away. He couldn’t decide whether or not he wanted to kill her. He thought it would be more fun to track her down later, and gather the souls of the departed villagers before they vanished forever. When Alex stopped to cast the spell however, a voice that sounded more like the wind, whispered in his ear.
“Kill them. Do not let anyone escape alive. They are what’s keeping us from being together. Kill them, kill them all.” Like an obedient child willfully obeying his parents, Alex set out to hunt down the woman and the little girl.
The woman looked behind her to see if Alex was following her. She didn’t see any signs of him, and for a moment, she thought she had escaped him. When she turned around however, she ran face first into a rock hard chest covered in black. She looked up, already knowing who stood before her. Even before her brown eyes met with his solid white ones. The terror that grasped her couldn’t be explained. So powerful was it, that she couldn’t scream, she couldn’t move, she couldn’t break his gaze. She stood there, dumbfounded by fear.
Alex stood there staring at the woman. He reveled in the amount of fear that radiated off of her body. He smiled wickedly beneath his mask, knowing that after this, him and his love would be together. These was the last person standing in his way. He raised his hand to strike at the woman, but right before he did a child’s cry pierced the night air. Alex halted his attack, both startled and confused by this cry. It wasn’t until he saw the form of a child beneath the woman’s cloak that he remembered there were two of them that he had to kill.
All it took was that child’s mournful cry to cause the woman to remember that she was not only fleeing for her sake, but for the sake of her child as well. She quickly turned around and tried to run back to the village. She had almost made it back, but before she had reached the edge of the village, she felt a powerful pain sweep through her entire body, followed by an ominous numbness that began to take hold of her. The woman crumpled to the ground, just as Alex extracted his claws from her back. The woman collapsed, and out of her arms rolled a child clothed in a brown dress, with shoulder length brown hair and big brown eyes.
Alex didn’t pay the woman any mind. His attention was focused solely on the child. The woman was going to die now regardless of what he did. The child had been wounded by his attack as well. Her right arm had several puncture wounds from his claws, and blood seeped down her arm. In the gray mist that clouded his mind, Alex found this situation vaguely familiar. To him, it seemed as if he had met this child somewhere before, but he couldn’t remember when or where. The child seemed familiar to him, but he had his own child to worry about. His focus should be on his child, not the child before him.
The little girl looked first at the woman who laid on the ground, a pool of blood forming around her. The little girl tried to resist the urge to rush to the woman’s side. She knew if she did that, she was as good as dead. When she looked at the man who had just attacked her, she instantly recognized him. Yet, at the same time she realized that this was not the same man as from before. There was something different about him. Something different about his eyes. She knew without a shadow of a doubt that this was the man from before, yet at the same time it wasn’t him. For the man standing before her now wasn’t a man at all. He was a monster.
“Cherish...run Cherish...run!” the lady said with her last breath of life.
