Fan Fiction ❯ Trancending Death ❯ The Final Battle ( Chapter 81 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Alex took a deep breath and closed his eyes before recounting his final battle with Scion. He looked over at Brittany before he began his tale. He knew, that his tale was about himself just as much as it was about Brittany. Alex knew that recounting Brittany's happenings with Zanatos, would only bring more unwanted memories to her mind. That was something he would give anything to avoid. For that reason, he looked at Zemnas before he began. "How far back do I need to start?"
Zemnas smiled knowing what Alex was thinking. "Don't worry. We already know about her affair with Zanatos. The fact that she strayed and slept with him is of little consequence."
Alex could feel Brittany's hate filled gaze, glaring at the form of Zemnas in front of them. He could tell that it took all she had to keep her voice in control as she spoke. "My lover...Alex, has been a damn pawn in your games and because of you he nearly fell into darkness. Someone, used me to get to Alex. They got to him by taking on my appearance, and tricking him into believing that he was doing it for me. Now, I just found out that my child is gone forever and I will never be able to see it! So if you think you're going to piss me off my reminding me of something that I did, just so that I could save Alex's life, you're badly mistaken. I'm pissed enough right now, without having you say anything more! Celestial being or not, you've already pissed me off. I don't blame Alex for what happened, Alex couldn't help our child. I blame you!"
Alex wrapped his arms around by Brittany and rested his chin on the crook of her neck. "On that note, I'll begin my story."
Brittany looked up at Alex, and could see the anger and pain in his eyes that mimicked hers just as well. She couldn't believe the amount of anger that registered in his eyes, but what she couldn't believe most of all was how he managed to restrain it. Is this really, Alex? How can he seem so calm, knowing everything that has happened? Our child...we'll never see our child again! That damn monster stole away our only chance of happiness! I wish I could kill him, I wish I could be there and watch as he screams in agony for being the one who took my child away from me. Alex, how can you be so calm? I can see the fire burning in your eyes, yet you refuse to let it get the better of you. Are you really Alex, my Alex? I know you feel just as I do. I know that you want to rip that monster limb from limb, but why do you not act on these feelings?
"Enough tragedies have been caused because of emotions. While I hate his guts, he is not responsible for our child's death. That monster in the Demon Realm is. I'm saving any feelings I have for when I fight him," Alex then looked away and added. "Besides, my emotions have led me astray for far too long. That, and as much as I hate to admit it, our child's loss is as much my fault as it is his."
The cold realization of what he meant coursed through Brittany and left her speechless. He blames himself. That's why, that's why he can't get angry. He believes its his fault that all this is happening. "Alex, you can't look at me and tell me that this is your fault! Everything that happened, you can't blame it all on yourself. You can't be that selfish to believe that this is happening because of you!"
Alex turned away from her and looked at the ground. "It was my blood that claimed his soul. If you had never fallen in love with me, then none of this would have ever happened."
"If I had never fallen in love with you, then I would have never had a child. If I had never fallen in love I might have been spared a lot of grief, but the fact is, is that I did fall in love with you Alex. And what you're saying, it's not right. It makes our child sound like nothing! We had a child together, and some way, we're going to bring it back," Brittany declared. She gave Zemnas a glare, that if looks could kill, would have ripped him limb from limb. "And no matter what anyone says or do, I will have my baby back."
"I think that's quite enough. We've gotten off subject once more. Now, Alex, if you would be ever so kind as to recount your battle with Scion for us that we might continue this before all Hell breaks loose within the Demon Realm," Zemnas ordered.
Alex reluctantly nodded, but not before looking Brittany in the eyes. "We will have our child. We will be a family. We will not give up hope. I don't care how I do it," Alex looked at Zemnas, his eyes full of restrained hatred as he spoke." Or who I have to cut down in the process, but we will get our child back."
"The talk of fools and promises that are made only to be broken do not interest me. What does interest me, is the condition of the Demon Realm. That, I can assure you, is something that is steadily declining even as we speak. Your friends who are waiting for you to return, the wolves and the lion, the likely hood of any of them living much longer is relatively slim."
"What do you mean?" Alex quickly asked.
"The Devil is making his way toward them. So if you want any chance of saving them, I suggest you hurry," Zemnas told him. He folded his hands together and waited for Alex to begin.
Alex took a deep breath, allowing this new information to sink in. He bowed his head and started his tale at the moment that Scion revealed himself. All eyes were on him as he told them in the best details that he could provide, everything that had to do with the battle. He stopped at the part where Scion had sent Brittany back to her realm, and when he had absorbed the three crystals and had pierced Alex through the chest. Brittany was still in his arms, and she looked up at him with eyes full of curiosity.
I never told her the rest. It's only natural that she too wants to know what happened. I guess I should tell her. After all, she was just as much a part of that battle as I was. Even after I returned to her I made sure that she never asked any questions about that battle. Too many horrid memories for my liking, and even now, if I had a choice I would prefer to avoid this subject. Given the current circumstances as they are, I have little choice as to what I must do.
"After Brittany was sent back to the Human Realm, it was then that the true battle between me and Scion really began," Alex told them as he searched his minds for the words to express what happened next. "Unfortunately, these memories are still very vivid in my mind. The horrors that were encountered, are ones that I wished to never see again."

Alex's heart was being torn in more than one way as Scion's now taloned hand flexed in his chest. Tears fell from his eyes as his only true love had just been sent back to where she came from. Scion's laughter filled Alex's ears, causing a rage unlike that of any he had ever known to overtake him. "You think this is funny?" Alex roared. Even though in doing so, pain coursed through his body.
"What, the fact that I just took the only woman you loved away from you? No, I consider it divine justification. Divine punishment if you will," Scion said with a cold laugh.
"What the Hell are you laughing about?"
"The fact that you don't even have any idea why I hate you so much," Scion replied as he moved his hand around in Alex's chest, causing another scream of pain to erupt from Alex's throat.
Blood dripped from Alex's lips, even as they curved into a smirk. "I don't know, and to be honest, I don't care. I do know this, you made one Hell of a mistake by sending Brittany away."
"And why is that? Is it because it broke your poor little heart to see little Brittany leave you?"
"No," Alex replied calmly.
"Then what is it?"
"You just really, really, pissed me off!" Alex yelled. Scion felt his right arm being pulled deeper into Alex's chest. When he tried to move his arm, he quickly realized that he couldn't.
"What the Hell?" Scion cursed. He looked at Alex, the moment he saw that both Alex's arms were still by his side, his eyes widened in horror. "No!"
Alex smirked as he stared down at his chest. Red tentacles had erupted from the hole in his chest, and penetrated into Scion's hand. They had already worked their way through most of his right arm when Alex decided to make his move. Suddenly, red tentacles burst out of Scion's arm, right above the biceps. The sliced his arm in two, severing even the bone. The red tentacles attached to Alex's chest, pulled Scion's severed limb all the way through Alex's chest! Alex winced as pain ripped through his body once more, but he knew it was a pain he was willing to deal with. The moment he hit the ground, he then crouched low to the ground and he let Scion's useless arm fall this his side. He quickly spun around, rising, and grabbing hold of Scion's throat with one hand at the same time.
"Who's laughing now?" Alex asked in a cold tone.
"I am," Scion replied with a laugh as his skin took on a black color disturbingly close to that of Alex's. Scion's red eyes glowed with hate, and before Alex realized what had happened, Scion's arm grew back. With a fist as hard as stone, Scion slammed his fist into the side of Alex's head, causing Alex to crumple to the ground. "Now let's see just what is mightier. Your power, or my spells!"
Alex's eyes shot wide open as he heard blades coming down upon him. Alex slammed his fist into the ground and launched himself into the sky. He quickly transformed into his demonic form, and began to spin and twist in the air to avoid the large blades that were coming toward him. The moment his feet hit the ground, Alex jumped backward to avoid several more swords, but before he could dodge again the send beneath his feet turned into hands, and held him right where he was.
"This isn't going to end well," Alex muttered as several more blades rained down from the sky. Alex instinctively threw his arms over his head to protect him, at the same time activating the powers of his Devil Armor. The area around his arms became completely covered by the armor, just seconds before the blades hit. He wasn't able to protect anything else on him, and that cost him dearly. While most of the blades that hit him were deflected by the Devil Armor on his arms, two managed to lodge themselves into his back, while another stabbed through his leg. Alex held back a scream of pain, as the pain took affect. Even though he could hold back the pain, he couldn't hold in his anger as he realized what those swords were.
