Fan Fiction ❯ Trancending Death ❯ Scion's Fear ( Chapter 84 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Alex wasn't able to control himself. Even though he was in control of his body, his mind wanted this to happen. So without hesitation he launched himself onto the first warm blooded demon he could find. Alex stabbed his hand through the throat of an older fox demon. The demon's body crumpled beneath Alex's weight, making it to where Alex was crouching on the demon's fallen body. The remaining demons stared at Alex in a mixture of shock and fear. He barely registered a demon's plea for mercy, begging Alex to forgive them for betraying him. Alex didn't care about the demon's words. Even if he was able to fully comprehend the meaning behind the demon's words, he doubted that it would have changed anything. He wasn't doing this for vengeance, he was doing this for the sense and the thrill of doing it. With that thought in mind, Alex launched himself at the next demon. He savored the adrenaline rush as his claws tore through their flesh. He enjoyed the bitter sweet taste of their blood as it flowed over him. But most of all, he enjoyed the sensation and the thrill of his own power that seemed to be completely omnipotent to those around him. It was almost too easy for him to defeat the weakling demons. Even the wolf demons, the demons that served under him, were no match for his might. The final demon left standing was the lion demon. Even then it was near death. Alex's claws had already sliced through most of his upper body. If it wasn't for the fact that Alex wanted to toy around with him before he killed him, the demon would have already been dead by now.
"W-why...why...what happened...to...you?" the lion barely managed to say in gasps of pain. Blood trickled down his side from where Alex had plunged his claws into.
Alex tensed up. His hands flexing menacingly at his sides. Instead of replying to the demon's question, Alex began to laugh. His laughter was me like a cold chuckle, but the demon in front of him knew what that sound meant. That laughter, that chuckle, that look of amusement on Alex's face, they all meant one thing. They all meant the same thing. They were his death sentence.
Alex disappeared from sight, only to appear right beside the demon. Alex's right hand raked across the demon's right shoulder, slicing the arm off a the shoulder blade. Alex then hooked his right foot onto the demon's right foot. He used his momentum to throw the demon off balance and toward the ground, at the same time twisting around so that he could lunge at the demon while he was falling. Alex's clawed hand stopped just a hair's breath away from killing the demon. His claws dug into the demon's skin, but not to the point of anything fatal.
Alex reared his hand back and prepared the deliver the final blow. "Die," he exclaimed in a raspy voice.
"If that is your will my Lord," the demon said as blood dripped from his mouth. "We were not faithful, but we came through in the end. I just wish I could've lived to make amends for my actions."
Alex's right hand trembled slightly at the demon's words. A moment of indecisiveness flashed across his face, but just as quickly as it appeared it vanished, replaced by the same bloodthirsty look on his face. The demon didn't even have time to scream as Alex's hand plunged through his skull. The impact reduced it to nothing more than a lump of red and pink mush.
Alex brought his blood soaked hands close to his face as he knelt next to the demon. His hands were shaking uncontrollably now, and Alex gripped the sides of his head to try and stop the throbbing pain that coursed through him. "No. No! No more!"
The fire in Alex's brain began to subside, and soon, it left completely. Alex mentally forced the Devil Armor to leave his body. He forced it away from him, making every inch of him vulnerable to attack, but he didn't care. He even reverted back to human form as he laid among the corpses of his allies, and of his friends. His entire body by this time was shaking uncontrollably. Finally, Alex released another ear splitting roar, but this time it was different. It was one that filled with too many turbulent emotions, all of which reflect one being.
"Scion!" Alex roared as the Dark Lord himself stood before him.
Scion clapped as he moved toward Alex. "I'm impressed. You were able to subdue your inner monster. How very noble of you. You must feel so proud to know that you managed to overcome the darkness inside of you."
"What the Hell did you do to me?" Alex asked in a raspy voice.
Scion seemed to be pleased with himself as he neared Alex. The first thing Alex noticed was that Scion was no longer poised for battle. In fact, it seemed as if he had all the time in the world to kill Alex. Evidently seeing Alex so shaken, so terrified, so hurt and broken, had given Scion the belief that he had one. The last part was something that Alex swore to prove otherwise.
"I did nothing to you. You did this to yourself. You over used your Devil Armor. I told you that if you continued to use it like you did that it would eventually show to you your true self. Now it finally has and it's time for you to reap the consequences of your actions."
"What do you mean? Are you saying that this happened...because of me?"
"I'm saying that your Devil Armor simply did what it believed you wanted. You wanted blood. So it gave you blood. You didn't care whether it was mine or not. So you lashed out at your own comrades just to fulfill you bloodlust."
Alex's eyes flashed with defiance as realization began to take over him. This is Scion I'm talking to! Nothing he says can be trusted. He's probably just saying that to make me not want to use my armor. Still, what the Hell did just happen?
"I don't believe you," Alex stated as he started to stand. His legs felt like they were going to give out from under him, and his muscles still felt sore due to the tentacles stabbing through them. Even his thought patterns were still a little sluggish.
"If you don't believe me, then why don't you use your armor again and come at me once more?" Scion said with a cruel smile.
Alex looked at the carnage that laid before him. Knowing that he was the reason for it. Knowing that it was because of him that these men died. Knowing that he really didn't have any idea why it happened. These were the thoughts that scared the Hell out of him. These were the thoughts that made him shake his head no, even though he knew that by doing so he was playing right into Scion's hands. I can't run the risk of hurting others. God, what if that had happened when Brittany was here? What if it had been her, or Kiba, or Shadow, or Aurora that now lay lifeless before, killed by my own hands? I couldn't do it. I can't do it. I've got to fight him with my own power. I can't rely on the power of the Devil Armor because it's unstable.
Alex started to transform back into his demonic form, but before he could Scion was upon him. Scion's hand clamped tightly around Alex's throat, cutting off his air supply. Alex tried to focus. He tried to go into his demonic form, but he couldn't focus enough to do so. He tried to breath, but nothing happened. Spots began to form in front of his eyes as Scion pulled himself closer.
"You are too weak to live. I will do you the honors of separating yourself from your armor, and thus killing you," Scion whispered. He then tossed Alex aside like he was nothing.
Alex tried to focus on Scion's words, but he was too busy trying to recapture his lost breath to really care. Scion walked a few paces away from him and abruptly turned to face him. "So, Razriel, are you ready to die?"
"I've already died twice, Scion. Dying doesn't scare me. It's living that I'm terrified to do," Alex replied as he started to stand.
"Afraid you'll lose your love again?" Scion asked coldly.
Alex froze and glared at him. "I'll kill you before you ever fucking touch her!"
"I'm afraid not. You'll be long dead before I get around to finishing off her. So now, let's see what we can do to get rid of that armor of yours." Before Alex could move, or even transform into demonic form, a pale blue light washed over him. The light froze Alex's movements. Once again Alex was forced to simply watch as something began to force itself into his body. He could see Scion standing in front of him. He had returned to his normal form. His red eyes gleaming with malice.
Scion started to reach out to touch the blue light that surrounded Alex. Even though Alex had no idea what the blue light was, he had a pretty nasty premonition of what it was supposed to do. Somehow he's going to use that light to pull the armor out of my body. I don't know if that's even possible, but evidently I don't know shit about myself, so for all I know it is possible. How he thinks removing the Devil Armor from my body will kill me, I have no idea. But I've got to think about how in the Hell I'm going to get out of this!
Alex watched with widened eyes as Scion's hand reached the edge of the light, just inches from Alex's chest. The instant his hand grazed the blue light, a bright flash of light blinded Alex. Even though Alex couldn't see, he could hear Scion's gasp of shock, followed by several hurried footsteps away from Alex's body.
Oh shit. If something can spook Scion then I know I'm fucked, Alex thought as he struggled to move. He found that given the proper concentration, he could move one limb at a time, but even then it was very slowly.
"Y-you," Scion gasped.
