"Scion, why do you do this? Why do you torment him so?" a soft female voice asked. Alex didn't recognize the voice, but for some reason it sounded familiar. It was as if he had heard it somewhere before.
"I-I do it for you. I'm going to bring you back! I'm going to save you!" Scion exclaimed.
"Please tell me you are joking, Scion. I have seen everything that you have done. You killed your own brother, Scion. You killed Alcadan! Now you wish to rob him from me as well?"
"He is a monster! One that needs to be destroyed!"
"No, he is no monster. He is nothing more than a child. He's turned into what he is because of monsters like you! He finally found love, Scion! He had finally found someone who loved him. Someone that he loved with his whole heart. He has been through Hell and back, all because of you. All because you were too selfish to let me go."
She's sticking up for me? Whoever she is, she seems to know a lot about me. I just wonder who she is. I still can't see her because of this damn light! It's blinding me, but I've got to find out who she is, Alex thought as he tried his best to break free from the lights control.
"You left. You left your husband, and you left me. Of course I was going to do everything in my power to bring you back. You gave your life so that, that brat would live. You became his armor so that you could always protect him!"
"You're right, Scion. I did become his armor, and I have been there protecting him ever since the day you first tried to end his life! I know what you did, Scion. I know what you're planning to do. Or did you forget that I possessed the powers of seer? I can see the future as if it is clear as day, and I will tell you this. He may have died once by your hands, Scion, but when he next dies, it will not be because of you. He will die because of someone close to him. They will be the cause of his death. Your death, however, will come from the end of his claws."
"So, you really chose that brat over me?"
"I chose my husband over you, Scion. I chose my child over both of you. I will always love Alcadan, and I had once believed that I could always love you. I do still love you Scion, but I love the old you. I love the Scion that would have given his life to save someone. The man before me is not Scion. The man before me is the Lord of Darkness. I died so that my child would live. I died, because I knew it was I had to do. I died, because I wanted to be with him during every step of his journey. Do you know how it felt to know that I would never actually be able to hold him in my arms? Do you know how it felt to leave behind the man that I loved more than life itself? After everything I gave up, you have now taken away from me the last thing that I had. You have taken my child away from me."
"No. I have not taken your child away from you. Not yet. Whether you are lying to me or not, it matters little. You say that his death will come at the hands of someone close to him. In that case, I believe a change of plans are in order," Scion declared. "You see, I have nearly perfected the ability you used to bring him back to life. I know the true ingredient to bring someone back from the dead. So, I will kill him. I will end his miserable life, even if I cannot do it by my own hands I can at least take part in his death by creating the monster...or rather the friend responsible for it."
The light blinding Alex faded slightly, and he was able to see Scion raise his right hand to the side of him. He touched part of a ruined wall, and a suddenly a dark portal opened up beneath his hand. From it, came a small white orb. One that Alex realized to be a soul.
A pure white orb? A soul of innocence. A soul of love. What is going on?
The soul flowed into Scion's hand and wrapped itself around it. Scion grinned evilly at the girl in front of Alex. He transformed back into his previous form and stretched his large black wings out to his side. "I have some business to attend to, Razriel. It will take some time for my plans to unfold. Until then, I suggest you try and calm that beast inside of you before you hurt someone you really care about."
In a flash Scion was gone. Alex turned to look at the woman in front of him. She was the same color as the light that surrounded him, but he could still tell that she was breathtaking.
"I'm sorry, Alex. It seems I might have just caused you more trouble than I should have. Unfortunately seeing the future has it downside as well," the woman sighed.
"What are you talking about? Who are you?"
"Don't fear your armor, Alex. It is there to help you," she said. It was obvious that she was ignoring Alex's original questions.
"I just killed my own men! How can you say that it's there to help me when I as just used by it! It tried to control me!"
The woman hung her head low and sighed. "You will need it in the battle ahead. Please, just trust me. Regardless, you will have to find out the answers for yourself. Just know this. Trust in yourself. Trust in your armor. Trust in your friends. Trust in that girl you love with all you heart. But most of all, trust your love," the woman then turned around and for a moment was no longer the same color as the light surrounding Alex. She had beautiful black hair and dazzling green eyes. Her lips were full, and her skin was golden tan. Her figure was that of a goddess, and upon seeing her, Alex could've sworn that he knew her from somewhere. Somewhere in the recesses of his mind...he knew her. "I love you, Alex. Goodbye."
Before Alex got a chance to say anything at all the woman disappeared within the flash of light. When he recovered the wraiths had all but fled with their master. Meaning that for now, the battle was over. Alex slumped onto the cold ground. His body numb with pain and heartache. He heard shouting and looked up to see Aurora and Shadow running toward him. He could tell by the look on their faces that something bad had happened. It took him a second to realize that something was missing. Once he realized what it was, his heart jumped into his throat.
"Kiba!" Alex yelled as he raced toward them.
“He fell during the battle. He’s unconscious and badly injured!” Aurora yelled to him before they reached him.
“Quickly, take me to him!” Alex ordered.
The two wolves quickly nodded and hurried back to where Kiba had fallen. Simera was above him. Her hands were glowing with light, and it was obvious that she was trying to heal him. Tears streamed down her face and dripped onto his fur.
“Come on! Wake up dammit! You can’t die! Not after everything that happened. Not after you risked your life for me!” she cried.
“No,” Alex whispered. “First Brittany, and now this. Dammit Scion! Will you take from me everyone that I care about?”
“Alex, what happened to Brittany?” Aurora asked suddenly. She placed her hand on his arm tturn him to face her.
Before Alex could explain to her all that happened another person ran up. He was evidently a your cleric, for he was wearing the same clothes as them.
“Please Shimera, allow me a try at this,” the youth asked as he kneeled beside her.
Shimera looked at him and shook her head. “Who...who are you?”
“Lady Shimera! I’m from the lower cadet branch. I want to try something that might save his life! Please, allow me to try this. I’ve been studying in combining elven magic and our own healing magic. Please, I might be able to save him.”
Shimera looked at him for a second before finally nodding and moving away. The youth kneeled above Kiba. He closed his eyes and raised his right arm out to his side. Suddenly a white orb appeared in his hand. He then slammed the orb into Kiba’s chest, and the orb seemed to merged with Kiba. There was a bright flash of light, and when it subsided, Kiba rose with an arch as he took a deep breath.
“Kiba!” everyone exclaimed in unison.
“I’d better go help the others,” the youth said and suddenly got up and hurried away into the mass of moving bodies. Everyone was staring too intently at Kiba to really notice his sudden departure.
“Kiba?” Alex asked as he moved beside his dear old friend.
Kiba’s eyes fluttered open and he turned to look at Alex. “It’s you lad. Don’t count me out just yet. This old wolf still has some fight in him.”
"I-I do it for you. I'm going to bring you back! I'm going to save you!" Scion exclaimed.
