Chapter 2: Tutoring Session

"Yo, Drew! Where were you yesterday afternoon?" Will said, strutting to Andrew's locker. Oh man! I forgot about band practice! All because I was worrying about having a tutor! Andrew remembered.

"I had to uh, go to a meeting with my family. You know, family night kind of stuff," Andrew lied.

"Oh, that's okay. Don't worry 'bout it!" Kevin said. Kevin was the procrastinator of the group, always doing things at least an hour after he needs to, "Hey, did you do your math homework last night?"

"Do I look the kind of guy who does his homework?"

"Well, I didn't do it either."

"Stupid, I did do my homework! Though, I don't think the answers are correct. You know the idea of homework scares me," Andrew stated.

"Well, anyways, can a copy it?"

"Dude, copy Brian's homework!" Josh told him, "Brian's the smart one in our band!"

"Oh yeah!"

"Hey, do any of you guys know where Cassy Lang's locker is?" Andrew hesitantly asked.

"Oh, I do. She has one of those corner lockers. Bottom too. I feel sorry for the girl. She has Candy's locker on top and you know Candy. She has all that junk in her locker and picks on Cassy," Josh replied.

"Which level? Second or first?"

"First. Why do you need to know?"

"I need to talk to her about something."

"Got something going on now do we lil' Drewykins?" Kevin started to tease.

"Kiss, kiss, kiss," Brian said.

"Shut up you idiots."

"Aw, you hurt our feelings," they all said in unison, giving him pouty looks.

"Hey Cassy. It's Cassy right?" Andrew said, trying to start a conversation with her.

"Yeah, it's Cassy. What do you want?"

"Whoa, you don't need to be cold."

"Well, you try having a locker under Candy Richardson and it in a corner. Are you asking me about the tutoring thing?"

"I guess. Yeah, I am."

"My house or your house?"

"I guess, uh, your house?"

"Fine. Meet me at the mall since you don't know where my house is."

"You know, you could give me directions. I drive you know."

"Oh, sorry. Wait, what kind of car do you drive?"

"You're into cars?"

"Well, yeah. What, are you?"

"Yeah! I drive a Lexus SC 430. 2002 model, too," Andrew said proudly.

"You do?! I want that car so badly! Well, I guess having a Volkswagon Beetle ain't that bad either."

"Cool. So, where do you live?"

"Oops, sorry, here," she quickly wrote down the directions in her notebook and tore the paper out, "I gotta' get to art! See ya I guess." And she ran off at that.

"Yeah, see ya." And with that, he went to gym.

Wow! She lives in this house?! This place is huge! Andrew thought to himself as he drove up the drive. He parked in the driveway and took a look at Cassy's Beetle.

"Nice colour, black leather interior. Nice," he said to himself.

"What are you doing?" he heard a voice say. He turned around and saw Cassy in the doorway of her house.

"Well, uh, we finished practice early and so I got here early. I was just checking out your Beetle. It's nice," he said.

"Thanks. Oh, is that your Lexus?! Lemme take a look at it!" she said excitedly, "Oh, you got the Indigo Ink and black leather interior?! Aw man! That's the exact model on how I want mine! There's the trip computer and the…." And she kept going on.

"So you must have studied this car pretty well. Seeing how you know all about it and the extras."

"Yeah, kinda, sort of. I have to save all of my baby-sitting money for mine. My parents got me the Beetle for my birthday. Well, we better get inside and start."

"Oh yeah." When Andrew got inside, he was in complete awe, "Whoa! Dude! Did you pay an artist to paint this mural?!" he asked as he was staring at the wall mural in the hallway.

"Nope. I painted it."

"No way!"

"Yes way. Ask my parents."

"Geeze."

"C'mon!"

"This is your room?!" Andrew asked as he stood in a room full of Something Corporate posters, Michelle Branch posters, a whole home entertainment system, stereo, practically an art and dance studio, and a huge bed. In a corner happened to be a desk with a flat-screen computer and color printer.

"Yeah. Why?"

"It's. Just. So. Huge! Are your parents rich?"

"I guess I could say that. But they still won't buy me the Lexus. They bought me the home entertainment center stuff, computer and printer, and the art and dance area. I've had the bed since I was young. I bought all the posters and other things. What about you?"

"Yeah, I live in a house like this, but not quite as large. My room also doesn't consist of a home entertainment center either," he said as they walked downstairs and to a kitchen table.

"Well, enough of the room-"

"You like Something Corporate too!?"

"Yes." Cassy started to become very annoyed.

"My band is called SoCo, named after them! We were completely inspired by them!"

"Cool, now let's finally get to work. It's already 6:45."

"Oh. Sorry."

"Nah, it's okay. So what do you want to start out with first? Ecology, Chemistry, or Physics?"

"Uh, Physics?"

"Okay then. What is the first law of physics? (a/n: I don't know a lot about physics so don't flame me on this!)" and the rest of the session continues like this.

"It's 7:00! Guess the session's over. Are you hungry? We got stuff. I don't actually remember what we have, but I can check."

"You can remember the laws of physics but not what you have in your refrigerator?" Andrew asked amusingly.

"Shut up. We have chips, salsa, cookies, fruit-"

"Chips, I guess."

"Okay."

"Say, why aren't you so social at school? I mean here you are with this house and all this luxury, good grades, you are great at everything, yet you don't socialize. What's up with that?"

"To tell you the truth, I hate popular people."

"Oh." He started to feel uncomfortable because he was considered popular.

"Don't worry. I am also quiet and only like to talk when I want to. When people push me to talk, I hate it. As you can see, I am talking now so that means I want to talk now. At school, since everybody hates me or thinks I am a freak, I don't want to talk then and don't have any friends."

"Wow. Hey, where are your parents?"

"They're doctors."

"Oh. Hey, whenever you need to talk to someone at school, you can always come over and hang out with me, Brian, Kevin, Josh, and Will. They'd love to hang out with you. You are pretty interesting once people get to know you."

"I guess. Thanks for the offer. I'll think about it."

"Huh?"

"Never mind. Well, it's 7:15."

"Oh, yeah, I got to get home. See ya!"

"Yeah, whatever."
