Two Worlds, One Destiny

Chapter One: Chance Meetings

“Now how the fuck did I manage to get into this situation?” she snorted at herself as she slumped down by the small stream.
She braced herself against a smooth boulder, and winced at the coolness. She knew she was hurt; she had to get word to the tribe.
“Tsukai, you know what to do.” She spoke towards to the trees. Just then a falcon screeched and took to the winds back to the Western Lands. She had encountered the first wave of their army that was headed for the Northern Lands, her allies. It took all that she had to dispatch them herself. She knew she would be reprimanded for it; she was only on rounds, which was meant to be watch and report back to command.
“Kunou is going to have my head for this one.” She whispered as she looked over her reflection in the water. She snorted at herself and splashed the cool stream water over her face and arms, a vain attempt to wash away some of the blood. She stood up slowly, bracing herself on the boulder and looked for a place to rest. Through her fading vision she saw a willow with knarred roots that offered a shallow place for her to rest and wait.
She slowly staggered over to her resting place, where she settled down, placing her katana, Koudou, down on the cool moss beside her. She rested her head back against the tree and slowly let her eyes close. She was just about drift off when she saw the flash of silver and black across the stream coming closer to her.
`Dammit Shinzui, just what we need.'
Before she could react, she was slumped back against the tree, drifting off.

Kyoumou was his name. It meant fierce and he did live up to his name. He was the leader of his pack, the wolf demon tribe. He woke restless early on in the day, his dreams seem to become more and more real every night, so he decided to take the morning rounds shift to get out and clear his mind. During the rounds of his packs territory he caught the heavy scent of blood. The air vibrated with energy of battle. He ran towards the source of the blood. He stood in the shadows surveying the scene; it looked as if a massacre had taken place. 30 men in amour, by the looks of it a small platoon from an army lay motionless on the ground, all dead, blood still flowing from their still bodies. In the midst of them a single person stood, leaning on their katana to keep from falling face first in to the soiled ground. The figure stood up and took deep breaths to gather their strength before moving from the site. It was then he took note it was a female. She stood tall, her body covered in blood, he couldn't tell if it was hers or the men's she just slaughtered. He stayed in the shadows and downwind as a falcon came to rest on her armored shoulder. She slowly sheathed her sword and walked carefully through the battlefield until she was away from the site. She somehow managed to stumble her way to a clearing by a cool water stream where she slumped down on her knees against a boulder. The falcon took refuge up in the near by tree branches. He crept closer to watch her. He watched her talk to the falcon which she called Tsukai. The bird of prey took to the winds heading west. He watched it disappear out of sight before he turned his attention back to her. She was on her feet again and headed for a near by tree to rest and hopefully hide until someone came to aid her. He looked over her, she attempted to wash the blood off of her, but instead of that she was covered in the mix of the cool water and blood. She slumped against the tree and relaxed. He slowly made his way over to her now, stepping through the stream headed straight towards her. He made his way over to her and kneeled down beside her, sniffed her, death wasn't even close to her from what he could tell at the time. “Name, rank and pack.” He ordered softly. “Shinzui” she spoke softly as she slipped into a slumber. He knew it right then, she was beautiful, powerful and deadly.
“Spirit eh? I'm Kyoumou, I'll stay close by till your pack comes.” He spoke softly.
`Why does this woman smell familiar, and her name, I knew someone long ago with that name, but this can't be her.' He thought hard as his eyes scanned over her, searching his own memories for something to come back. Shinzui mumbled something softly in her sleep and he smiled. He crossed back over the stream and watched from the shadows.

Twilight was setting in and Kyoumou was pacing back and forth, wondering what was taking her pack so long to aid her. A scout from his pack had come and gone to take his report back to the main camp. He watched the woman intently making sure she was in no danger, but night was setting in and it was no place for her to be out in the open. He once again crossed the stream to check on her, and to his alarm she had broken out in a fever. He sniffed her over until he found the infected wound.
`That's why she's still out, she's been poisoned.'
He gently lifted her right arm to reveal a shallow cut on her rib cage that was already beginning to fester. She let out a small whimper as he put down her arm. Kyoumou picked up Shinzui bridal style carefully, pulling her in close and begin to cross the stream. She started to mumble something about Koudou. Kyoumou glanced back and noticed her sword still on the moss. He walked back and placed it on his hip next to his sword, Koumeiseidai.
“I have your weapon, rest now.”
Shinzui's head rolled back on Kyoumou's arm. Her hair swung free, tickling his arm as he started into a light run. Something inside of him screamed for him to hurry. He quickened his paced to a full out run and didn't slow up until he could see the lights of the fires from his main camp.
