Chapter 2 - Back at the Camps

Koden Tribe's Camp

“Tsunami has Shinzui reported back yet?” the leader of the Koden tribe asked. Her name was Kunou. She was as ruthless of a leader as she was beautiful. And that was the main mistake many soldiers and men made when encountering her. They thought she was all for show and no brains in the tribe. When they let their guard down around her, she used it to her advantage, taking what she wanted or just killing them.
“No senpai, Commander Shinzui has not returned to the camp.” The captain of the guards, Tsunami replied. “Damn it Shinzui, where are you?” Kunou snorted. Just as she finished the words, the great falcon Tsukai came screeching towards her. She held out her arm, which was clad in heavy leather for when the falcon did come to her, and the falcon landed. The bird of prey dropped two pieces of material into Kunou's open hand. One was a small identifiable piece of armor from the small platoon, and the other piece was from Shinzui, a scrap of cloth with a crescent moon drawn in blood and a small rip beside it. Kunou studied these closely for a moment and snorted. She tied a small piece of cloth with a white star drawn on it to Tsukai's leg and whispered, “Take it to the Spirit.” The falcon regarded her for a moment, and then a screech erupted from its mouth and took flight in a flurry of black and red feathers.
“Senpai, what has happened?” Tsunami asked. “Armies are crossing our lands, Shinzui intercepted them, dispatched them and she's injured. Gather a scout party; we're heading out at daybreak.” She told Tsunami in an official voice. “Where are we heading senpai?” She questioned. Kunou looked her over, deciding if this captain could handle this information. “Border lands, between the west and the south.” Kunou looked to the sky as twilight overcame their camp. “And it's probably going to be messy.”

Ookami Akki Pack Camp

Hushed whispers came to Kyoumou's ears as he entered the camp still carrying the sleeping woman. He came to a stop infront of his den as a group of elders came to welcome him back. He greeted them as their eyes scanned over the girl, they all took in her scent as one elder female stepped forward and lifted her arm to reveal the wound. She took her wrist and scanned the inside of her forearm. She let out a low half whine, half growl when she saw the red crescent moon that seeped blood on her forearm. Kyoumou took her inside of the den as the elders followed. “Kyoumou” whispered the elder female known as Kaze. “I know Kaze, she smells familiar but I can't place her, or remember anything, just her scent.” He said gently as he laid Shinzui down on his belt of soft pelts. She let a groan out and a small whimper in her sleep but said nothing else. Kaze regarded Kyoumou for a moment before she noticed the addition weapon on his hip. “Kyoumou give me her weapon” she gently commanded. The other elders looked on in shock; if it was one of them that asked it for it he would have snarled and nearly bitten their heads off. Kaze and Kyoumou have always had a special understanding between them. Kaze never used this to her benefit unless she knew it was in the best interest of Kyoumou.
He handed over the katana to Kaze. She held it up to the light and saw the faint glow of blue light on the sheath, her breath hitched in her throat. “What is it Kaze?” Kyoumou asked as he peered over his shoulder as he removed Shinzuis' armor and tended to her injuries. Kaze whirled around to the other elders and spoke quickly, “Please my pack brothers' leave, I must speak to Kyoumou alone.” They nodded in unison and left the den one by one. Kyoumou finished adding the moist medicinal herbs and wraps to Shinzui's ribs just as the other elders had left. “Kyou, do you know the name of her weapon?' Kaze asked very seriously. “I think she mumbled something like Koudou I think.” He said as he washed his hands in a close by basin. Kaze braced herself against the den wall and whispered, “Koudou and Koumeiseidai are together again.” Kyoumou froze in his place and looked at the stunned Kaze. “What do you mean `again' Kaze? Do you know who this is or why she smells familiar?” Kyoumou asked practically growling at her. Just as she went to answer him a loud screech echoed through the den. Kyoumou looked towards to entrance and saw a great falcon of red and black feathers. “Tsukai” he whispered.
The falcon looked him over before he bent over and retrieved the scrap of cloth from his leg; he let it fall from his beak and to the ground. He erupted yet another louder screech right into the den and then took off to the closest tree to watch over the den for his mistress. Shinzui stirred under the pelts on Kyoumou's bed as Kyoumou went to retrieve the cloth that the bird had left. He picked it up and looked it over while sniffing it lightly; it was a small black chunk of cloth with a white start drawn on it. “Her pack is coming soon, so you better start explaining Kaze.” He said between his gritting teeth.
