Chapter 3

"Ugh!" grunted Link as he landed in a shallow pool of water. Standing instantly, he took in his surroundings, searching for Ganondorf or any other threat.

There was a distant droning, and a foul smell. Other than that, this place appeared harmless. But Link knew for a fact that appearances could be deceiving. Himself as a young boy was proof of that.

Where's Navi? The thought hit him like a ton of bricks.

Did she make it through, or am I alone? A noise behind him brought him back from his thoughts. Spinning on the spot, Link drew his sword, and pointed it towards this new development.

It was a naked girl. Link blushed and turned away. The only time he'd seen a girl naked was when he accidentally walked in on Malon having a bath. He'd had to spend the night in the barn after that.

"Link?" came a timid voice from behind him. "Something's wrong Link. I'm cold, and I can't fly." Link took off his cloak and handed it to her without turning.

"You're also naked." Stated Link. Navi let out a yelp of shock and took the cloak from Link. Link felt his cloak tugged from his hand, then heard the rustling as it was pulled over Navi's head. He turned around to look at Navi, now with a travelling cloak covering most of her body.

She was young, only seventeen summers or so. She had light blue hair, blue eyes and a slight blue tint to her pale skin.

"Where are we?" asked Navi.

"I have no idea." Replied Link, still taking in his surroundings. They were in an alley, but it was like no alley in Hyrule. It was dark, damp, and the smell seemed to be coming off a pile of black objects by the wall, all of which were leaking one thing or another.

"Link, lets go." Pleaded Navi, but Link would not budge. He had to know where Ganondorf had gone.

Before he could find a clue, a heavy object hit him on the back of the head. Link once again fell into the muck, his vision blurring and fading. In the distance, he heard a voice say

"I wouldn't mind getting a piece of that!" Still in the distance, he heard a familiar voice screaming his name. Navi's voice screaming his name. Link was up in an instant, his sword back in his hand from where it fell.

A man held Navi by the hair, while two more were trying to pull the cloak off, with two more watching and cheering, like it was some sporting event.

"Link!!" sobbed Navi, as the man tried to kiss her, forcing his tongue into her mouth. Disgusted, Link raised his sword and charged at the attackers. He jumped and thrust his legs out at the one who was kissing her. Links legs connected with such force that he felt ribs snapping under his feet.

Link fell onto his back while the attacker rolled away, screaming in agony. Link pushed his sword upward through the gut of the attacker on the left, while the other one backed off quickly, pulling a black object from his jacket. He aimed it at Link, closed one eye

(The way a professional archer does thought Link) and squeezed something on the handle. It erupted with the sound of thunder, lightning being expelled from the object, echoes racing up and down the alley. Link felt a searing, sharp, impacting pain in his shoulder that sent him flying.

Lying in the dirty water, Link raised his head, his vision blurring again. He heard one of the attackers speaking.

"Jesus Christ, Joe! Look at this thing! He skewered Frank on it!" The one who had shot him nodded. He must be Joe, thought Link groggily.

"Yeah. What kind of fucking nut-job carries a sword, anyways?" The one who had spoken first, continued.

"And look at his clothes! It's some kinda… tunic, I s'pose. This is just startin' ta get weird."

"Well, it's about to get much clearer." Came a rough, growling voice. The alley was filled again with the sound of thunder, much louder than before. When it died down, he could hear the men yelling.

Link turned his head slightly, to where one of them had fallen. It was Joe. But something was different about his features. As Link focused, he realised that half his face was missing, leaving only gore and brain matter behind. Link felt like retching, but he held it down.

Raising his hand to where he had been struck, he felt a warm, thick liquid. Without even raising his hand to his face, he could tell that it was blood.

And he was losing a lot. The men had run know, leaving him, the gruff sounding voice and Navi. Navi. Link tried getting up, but suddenly felt light headed.

"Easy, kid." Came the gruff voice again. He felt himself being lifted slightly, and heard a lot of grunting. Then the voice said haughtily

"Here, lass gimme a hand." With that, Link passed out.

Carrying Link was hard work, thought Navi as they heaved him up the stairs, to the mans home. The fact that she had only been walking for a quarter of an hour made this task even worse. She kept tripping, and each time she did, Link groaned in pain. Navi had insisted that they get Link to a healer, but she was just ignored.

So, resigning herself to silence, she continued carrying Link up the stairs. There was still quite a bad smell, and she was still cold, but it was much better than the alley. For one thing, there were no men attacking her and Link. She shuddered.

If Link hadn't been there…She thought.

"You okay lass?" asked the man. She nodded. He at least didn't seem to mind that she was naked. Finally, the reached the door, and she had to hold Link up on her own, which was an extremely difficult task, because Link was almost twice her size, while the man searched for something in his pockets.

Finally, after what seemed like forever to Navi, he produced a key. He opened the door and helped her carry Link over to the bed, then opened another door and pulled a box off the top shelf and set it down on the floor next to the bed.

"You may not want to watch this, lass." Said the man, looking at Navi.

"There are some clothes in the dresser in the front room. Put them on and wait in there." He then went on to pull out a strange silver object out of the box and snipped away the clothe. Navi left at this point, because she couldn't stand blood.

Walking through the mans home she realised how unlike Hyrule this place was (well, she'd figured that out in the alley, but it was only know that it was starting to sink in).

She walked over to the fire place and picked up a picture from the mantle. It showed the man, somewhat cleaner and better looking, kissing a very beautiful woman. Navi carefully placed the picture back down and looked at the others.

There was one showing a small boy kicking an oval shaped object with the man's (again, much better looking) help. Further along, there were pictures of the woman and the boy in front of a cake with ten candles, the boy riding on a strange device with two wheel's, the boy in a strange black garment and square hat standing next to the woman, and the last one, placed in the centre, showed them all together, looking very happy.

Navi clicked that they must be his family. She looked around, half expecting them to walk through the door. She then realised how shocked they would be to find a half naked girl standing in the middle of the room, so she set about finding clothes.

Once she had found them, however, she realised that the woman's clothes were too big, so she found a small pair of trousers and some sort of shirt and put them on.

"Now lass," Came the mans voice from behind her, making her jump

"I think its time you told me everything."
