Fan Fiction ❯ Ultimate Spirit ❯ Awakening of the Bird of Dreams: Part 2 ( Chapter 4 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Disclaimer: Even though I own most of the characters, I have to put a disclaimer here for the character `iMac'. I did not create the character (I got it from a picture I saw on the `net). The picture is called iMac Girl, created by Satoshi "Toy" Igarashi (Satoshi-san, if you're out there… don't sue. ._.; I'll change the character. ^^;).

The song "Liberi Fatali" is copyright (©) of Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA). I'll be adding the English translation of the song in this chapter. I just felt the song kind of fit these two chapters of the fanfic series. XP By the way, for those who don't know, liberi fatali means "fated children" in English.

Speaking of "iMac", I do not own Apple Macintosh. I am also not an owner of an iMac. I love Windows-even though Microsoft sometimes annoys me, ^^;.

Rating: PG-13 (Language mostly. Although, if you can't stand people with minor cuts and abrasions, then don't read on.)

Type: Action/Adventure

Please Read and Review. No flames! If you are just gonna flame me and not even read over my fic then don't say anything. There's a fine line between criticism and just plain ignorant complaining over something you didn't even read.

Enjoy.

My children, your childhood years are gone
Wake from your sleep
Fated children, your rest is gone.

The garden of spring's truth

With fiery truth burn the evils of this world
With fiery truth light the darkness of the world

Prologue

When we last left off, Ryuujin and the others were attacked by a gigantic demon. Ryuujin had released a pair of white angel wings and told everyone to leave, as he would handle it. As they left, Ryuujin let loose a whole bunch of Holy energy.

The energy disintegrated Sabre's home and threw the demon back 200 ft. The energy blast also knocked the other Demi-Gods away as well. Only Hiroshi was spared from the superb amount of energy. Although, Hiroshi doesn't seem to be himself… what's going on? Read on and find out!

(- Far away, the 3 Demi-Gods peel themselves from a mountain. -)

"Oh… my back is gonna hurt in the morning." Tavern groans and rubs the sore spot. Raven looks over at Sabre who has blood dripping from his arm. "Sabre… are you ok?"

The Demi-God had dirt in his hair and blood streaming from a cut on his cheek. He looks over at his younger sister and says in a melancholy voice, "The war has just began. Ryuujin is our only hope. If we can't save the dimensions, a lot of people will die."

Raven gasps slightly and nods. Sabre pulls out a card and looks at it. Across the top on a banner is the word "Restore"; below it is a picture of an angel surrounded by a white glow. He holds the card into the air and lets it go. He lets it float mid-air with Telekinesis. The other Demi-God and Demi-Goddess look at the card and nod. Sabre shouts "Restore Card! Activate!"

The card begins to glow and a white beam shoots out towards the group. The beam splits into three smaller ones and they each hit their target. White and blue spirals of Holy energy swirl around the three as their wounds close and heal in an instant. The card then stops glowing and returns to Sabre's waiting hand. He then turns to the others.

"I think it's time we taught Ryuujin about the Mystic Cards. Do we all agree? I'm sure Hiroshi would." Tavern and Raven nod. "Ahh… now my back won't hurt in the morning." Tavern says with a slight grin. Raven rolls her eyes, "Hey, wait a second… where is Hiroshi?"

Tavern and Sabre look around. They shrug their shoulders and look back at their sister. Raven gasps, "You don't think he's…?".

Sabre shook his head, "No way. Ryuujin's not that strong. Although, I think that Rekenrou gave him a little more power than we all thought."

Everyone nods in agreement. Tavern looks at the white mist of energy ahead, "I think we should find Hiroshi." Raven and Sabre nod as they all float into the air and fly towards the mist of energy.

(- Back at Sabre's place-or what's left of it, Ryuujin is surrounded by a mysterious bluish-white glow. Hiroshi walks up beside him. -)

"You've done a good job. Just tone it down next time, hmm?" Hiroshi says with a slight smirk. Ryuujin looks up at his uncle and nods slightly. The white mist of energy had dispersed from the atmosphere and the demon was no where to be seen. Ryuujin spreads his dragon wings and flies up into the sky.

"I don't see that demon anywhere. I think I finished-"

Just then, a large ball of anti-matter flew straight towards Ryuujin; cutting him off mid-sentence. The small dragon looked down at Hiroshi and released a large wave of Telekinesis; stopping the ball in its tracks.

"Maybe I should send this thing back to where it came from, huh?" Ryuujin said with a smirk. Hiroshi only snickered and nodded. Ryuujin concentrated and the bluish-white aura around him grew until it could be seen from where the others where flying. The smirk on his face turns into a grin as he raises his paws into the air. The ball of anti-matter seems to float up; following the small dragon's movements of his paws.

(- A few miles away in the air, Raven, Sabre, and Tavern see the large aura of their smaller kin. They also see the ball of anti-matter above it. -)

"What the hell is that?!" Raven says shocked. Tavern looks in disbelief, "I-I think that's Ryuujin… holding that giant ball of energy or something." The Demi-God then flies off ahead of the others to get a closer look. "Tavern! Wait up!" Sabre shouts and flies after him. Raven nervously follows.

(- Back with Hiroshi and Ryuujin, Ryuujin had quickly brought his paws out at arm's length; sending the ball flying back at the demon. Tavern, Raven, and Sabre finally make it to see a spectacular sight. -)

A loud explosion and a flash of light appears as the others float down next to Hiroshi. The ball hits its target, as Hiroshi looks over at Tavern; his eyes flickering from sky-blue to green once more. They all shield their eyes, as the light seems to move toward them at an incredible speed. Ryuujin doesn't shield his eyes, however; the aura of energy acts like some sort of shield to them. He looks down at his uncles and aunt and slowly lands next to Hiroshi.

His angel wings have disappeared and the aura is slowly fading back into his body. Soon, the aura becomes completely invisible. Despite the dramatic change in appearance, Hiroshi and the others can still feel a slight change in the small dragon's energy. It feels stronger-more controlled. And most of all, it feels calming yet somewhat mysterious at the same time.

"Well… I think that's that. But something tells me that someone else might come back for me. But, don't you worry-I'll beat `em every time!" Ryuujin says with a smirk; his ego had clearly taken a dramatic change as well. Tavern looks over to him and rolls his eyes. "Ok so you might be more powerful than us, but let me reassure you that you only caught us off guard and don't get a big ego over this either."

Ryuujin sighs, "Who says my ego is getting a little big? Besides, your ego is bigger than mine will ever be." Tavern looks slightly dumbfounded and blinks. Hiroshi and the others simply snicker. Raven smirks slightly, "You know… he has a point." She then turns to Hiroshi, "Where were you? Are you ok? What happened?"

Hiroshi scoffs, "You ask too many questions you know that? Don't worry about me. I was prepared for the blast and-" Sabre cuts him off suddenly, "What do you mean "prepared"? You couldn't have been. None of us was prepared for such a strong blast. There is no way you could've known!"

Hiroshi smirks as his eyes flash sky-blue for a moment as he responds, "Are you sure about that, Sabre? You don't think that I couldn't have known about my own son's power? Although, there are some things about him that I probably don't know about." Hiroshi's eyes then flash back to green. Sabre, Raven, and Tavern all stare at Hiroshi with wide eyes.

Hiroshi had said that in Rekenrou's voice-not in his own. Ryuujin smiles, "Hi dad!" Tavern looks over at Ryuujin, "What do you mean "dad"? That's Hiroshi… isn't it?" Hiroshi shakes his head. "No… well… yes. But, Rekenrou can speak through me. He has been able to for quite some time and-well I couldn't let you know just yet."

Raven blinks and says, "I think I get it… neither of us could teach Ryuujin how to use Holy energy and Rekenrou taught him. That's how Ryuujin knows what his father sounds like." Hiroshi interrupts, "Rekenrou didn't teach him that… he knew it on his own. Even Rekenrou was surprised. As for him knowing his father's voice, while I was training him, Rekenrou used me to speak to him and such. Ya know, made sure he knew that he had a father. Also to let him know that he was willed into Reality; thus he doesn't have a mother."

Ryuujin nods. "Dad's really cool! He's nicer than Uncle Hiroshi was at training me." Hiroshi smirks. "So, how long were you planning on keeping this a secret?" Raven asks; looking slightly peeved. "As long as I could until you found out, but, it looks like Rekenrou had other plans." Hiroshi says in a slight growl.

Sabre and Tavern look around at the damage done to Sabre's home and the area around it. Sabre then looks at Hiroshi. Tavern looks at him as well. Hiroshi snickers and averts his gaze over to Ryuujin. "Blame him, he did it. Not me."

Ryuujin looks somewhat shocked at his uncle's words. "Whoops… sorry." Ryuujin says with a slight blush. Sabre chuckled a bit, "That's okay… you can help me rebuild in the morning. I'm sure Ikoshi won't mind me sleeping in her place." Ryuujin nods and looks around. "Hey! I can just do it now!" Tavern blinks, "You can't rebuild a house in one night… none of us could."

Ryuujin shakes his head. "I could! I can reconstruct it using the powers of Time to reverse the damage." This time, it's Hiroshi who shakes his head, "You'd be messing with the flow of Time and well… something else'll just come along and destroy it again. If you could control your powers fully, you could stop that from happening." Ryuujin sighs and nods, "Maybe you're right but…" Ryuujin concentrates hard and the pieces of broken wood begin to lift and float as the foundation of a house constructs before everyone's eyes.

Hiroshi growls, "Didn't I tell you-" Ryuujin nods and continues as a house forms. "I know what you told me… and I didn't warp Time. I only used my Reality powers to just recreate a house. Simple." Sabre grins, "Thanks, kid. I owe ya." Ryuujin smiles, "I know." Raven and Tavern look over where the demon is-well used to be.

"Hmm… I wonder what happened to that demon." Raven asks. Tavern nods. Ryuujin scoffs slightly, "I wonder how it lasted against my first technique!" Tavern looks over at his nephew, "Got a name for that technique, little guy?" Ryuujin thinks for a minute, "Uh… how about… uhm… Holy Energy Engulf?" Everyone nods. Hiroshi speaks up, "Look, this is nice and all, but I've got to be going home and-". Raven stops him with a telepathic message.

-Hey, we need to contact Ikoshi and tell her about the situation. We also need to teach Ryuujin about the Mystic Cards.-

Hiroshi responds, walking away from the group.

-I don't care what you do about Ikoshi, but I will be the one to teach him about the Mystic Cards. After all, Rekenrou can do it better than any of you. He was the one who created the cards and the game.-

Raven nods.

Sabre heads towards his new home, "I'm goin' back to bed." Tavern follows.

"Hey! Can I finish watching that movie I was watching?"

Sabre shakes his head.

"No."

"C'mon! It's not my fault you have bad timing!"

With that said, Sabre spins around and waves a hand; Tavern is instantly frozen from the waist down in a block of ice. Everyone, except Tavern, snickers.

"I don't give a sh-"

Just before Sabre can finish his sentence, a lightning bolt flies down from the skies and strikes the ground between Tavern and Sabre. The heat from the bolt melts the ice on Tavern. Down flies a beautiful Demi-Goddess in a blue-green metallic bikini with an iMac mouse for a tail. Her black hair blows in the wind and on her chest, above her breasts, a small blue-green iMac Apple logo shines in the light created by the bright flash of lightning. The girl's name is Ikoshi Macintosh; she is the Demi-Goddess of the Elements of Lightning. She lands in-between the two stunned Demi-Gods.

"Tsk, tsk. Such bad language, Sabre!" Ikoshi giggles. Sabre growls. Ryuujin and the other male Demi-Gods gawk at Ikoshi's outfit. "Wow, Ikoshi…" Tavern says; wide-eyed, "you look… hot." Suddenly, Raven slaps Tavern upside the head hard enough to knock him over.

"SHE'S YOUR SISTER YOU IDIOT!" Raven was clearly annoyed at the whole fight between Tavern and Sabre and the comment from Tavern just set her off. Ryuujin chuckles at this sight, as do Sabre and Hiroshi.

Hiroshi also looks out his sister's outfit. "I thought you stopped buying new clothes after your card got burned to a crisp from it being run through the damn machine so much." Ikoshi giggles. "I got a new one… and a ton of new outfits just like this… but in different colors!" "G-great." Tavern says, dusting off. He glares at Raven-who in turn flips Tavern on his back with a slight gust of wind. She smirks.

Ikoshi notices Ryuujin and crouches down to his eye level. "Aww… so this is the little guy Rekenrou left behind. He's so cute!" Ikoshi pinches Ryuujin's cheek. Ryuujin blinks and pulls away; rubbing his cheek. "Uhm… hi. I'm Ryuujin." Ikoshi nods, "I'm your Aunt Ikoshi."

"Dad told me about you… he never mentioned you were… uh… cute." Ryuujin blushes as he says this. Ikoshi giggles, "Aww… well thank you." Tavern glares at Raven and whispers "Why didn't you smack him?" Raven smirks and responds, "'Cause. He's not being an idiot like you are." Tavern growls.

Ikoshi smiles and then notices the crystal hanging from the dragon's neck. "What's this? Is this… This looks like one of the Sacred Crystals that Rekenrou was telling me abou-" Hiroshi looks up, "Sacred… what?" Ikoshi nods. "Yea… Sacred Crystal. He didn't tell you guys? Well... I guess I could inform you guys."

Sabre thinks for a minute then looks back at his house, "I think we should tell Ryuujin about the Sacred Crystals and the Mystic Cards. There's no choice now. I have a feeling that he'll need all the help he can get." Ryuujin blinks, "Mystic- wha? Is that like some kind of game?" Hiroshi smirks, "You could say that…"

Sabre pulls out his deck from his inner pocket of his trenchcoat. He then hands the top card to Ryuujin. It is a silver-colored card with the word "Sacred Ryuu" written on it. Below it is a picture of a majestic looking silver-scaled dragon with large horns and a swirling mass of energy in its front paws. Two pairs of white angel wings sprout from its back between the dragon wings. Ryuujin blinks and turns the card around and looks at the back. "Cool… So, uh, what's it supposed to do?" Sabre answers, "Well, that card summons very powerful monsters called Spirits. That Spirit is Sacre-" Suddenly, Hiroshi interrupts Sabre with a telepathic message…

-…What do you think you're doing? I'm the one who is to tell him about the cards!-

-Well you sure aren't doing anything now are you?! Say something then…-

Hiroshi clears his throat, finishing his brother's statement. "That card is called a Spirit Card and it summons monsters call-" Ryuujin nods, "Yea… I heard that part… so who's this "Sacred Ryuu?" Hiroshi sighs, `I guess that Rekenrou's better for this job'. Suddenly, Hiroshi's eyes flash azure as Rekenrou's spirit takes over. Rekenrou looks at his son and smiles, "Just like me… curious and impatient at the same time. Oh well." Ryuujin blushes as everyone else snickers.

"Sacred Ryuu is one of the Spirits that, before you were born, guarded the Gates of Divinity. The Gates of Divinity are the gates that allow access to this realm," Rekenrou states. The dragon on the card seems to shine at the acknowledgment of its name.

"Oh… so uhm… how do I summon it?" Ryuujin asks.

"Well…", Rekenrou takes the card from his son's paws and holds it up towards the sky, "…you do it like this." With that said, Rekenrou says the words; "I summon Sacred Ryuu!"

Suddenly, the skies crackle with electricity as the card glows and then 4 balls of light blue energy begin to swarm around in a circle under Ryuujin's feet. Ryuujin blinks and finds himself and everyone else teleported back about half a mile away as the skies grow dark. The small dragon looks up at his father quizzically. Rekenrou snickers, "You almost got crushed there. Always a good rule: After you summon a Spirit, teleport at least half a mile away from the battlefield. Don't want to get killed trying to summon something, do ya?" Ryuujin shakes his head; blushing. He looks on in wonder towards the direction of the swarming balls of energy.

The ground near the energy balls glow as a pentagram appears under them. The winds stop and a bright light shoots from the center of the star. A large dragon emerges from the light. It resembles the one on the card. Its shiny silver scales give of a magnificent glare and it's white angel wings blow slightly as it's dragon wings keep it levitated on the ground. It gives a loud roar into the sky and spreads its wings.

Ryuujin gasps, "Hey! It looks like… like me…" Everyone nods and turns to Rekenrou. Rekenrou smirks, "Well, I kind of named you after him and I modeled your appearance after him as well. Hope ya don't mind." Ryuujin grinned. "Now I know why I'm so cute!" Everyone laughs but is interrupted by an impatient growl from Sacred Ryuu, who seems bored at the whole scene. Rekenrou looks up at him and holds up the Spirit Card in his hand, "Whoops… almost forgot about you… Sacred Ryuu! Return to your card!"

The Spirit growls in annoyance and growls, the pentagram disappearing as the Spirit returns to its card. Rekenrou hands the card to his son. "Now there ya go, you have your own card now. Don't lose it and use it wisely and you can become as good as me. Oh, I almost forgot… respect the Spirit inside the Spirit Card… especially Sacred Ryuu… he'll turn on you if you make him mad." Ryuujin snickers and nods, "Thanks, Dad!" Ryuujin hugs Rekenrou just as Hiroshi's spirit finally regains control once more. Hiroshi growls and Ryuujin suddenly pulls away. "Bad day, Uncle Hiroshi?" Everyone laughs as Hiroshi growls, "I hate it when he does that."

Sabre sighs, "Hmm… I would go to bed, but I think we should try and see who's trying to kill us- or more likely Ryuujin… and why." Everyone nods. Ryuujin looks at the card and waves a paw around in the air; a brown belt with a pocket attached to it falls in his paw, the pocket big enough to hold about 100 Spirit Cards. He places it around his waist and connects the buckle. A perfect fit. He then places the Sacred Ryuu Card in the pocket and snaps the button. "Now I won't loose the card."
