Sora woke up the next morning trying to forget the events that had occurred the night before. “Why does he have to reject me? I know he likes me, but he wants to protect, but from what! He left me when I needed him the most. Now what am I going to do! I can't tell anyone…not even Kairi or my mom…no on must know that I'm…grrrrrrrr… it was so much easier to admit it to Riku, I can't even admit it to myself. I should just forget about him for now and think about how to break up with Kairi. Maybe we could still be friends if the break up goes well…but knowing her she'll probably never want to speak to me again…oh well I better hurry before I'm late again.”
Sora hurried to get dressed not really caring what he was wearing and ran out before his mother saw him, because his mother always knew when something was wrong with him and he didn't have the courage yet to tell her.
He walked as slow as he could to think about what he could do with Kairi. “I could always not let her now and continue the relationship?” heasked himself, “but then your life would be an even bigger lie than before.”
He was interrupted from his thoughts with a smiling Kairi giving him a small kiss on the lips. He instinctively pulled away knowing that he never really enjoyed her kisses or affection, now that he thought about it any affection she gave him annoyed him a little.
“What's wrong Sora?” asked Kairi knowing that he wouldn't pull away unless something was wrong.
“To lie or tell the truth” Sora thought, “Lie…” He then kissed Kairi with all the passion he felt for Riku leaving her weak in the knees. Sora thought she was going to fall until she exclaimed, “That was the best kiss ever!”
That made Sora feel even worse for lying to her and that was going to make breaking up with her a lot harder than he thought.
He needed Riku to help him think about what to do, but he didn't think Riku wanted to talk to him right now. Kairi took Sora's hand as they walked to school, with regret in Sora's heart the entire way.
“Good morning Class” greeted Yuna with a smile on her face. “Good morning Yuna” replied the class almost in unison.
She started calling roll, but Sora's mind wandered to how he could break up with Kairi, but all he could come up with was to stay in the relationship until she got sick of him, but after the kiss this morning that was wouldn't happen anytime soon.
“Sora?” called Yuna.
“Huh?” asked a confused Sora.
“Are you here?” asked a grinning Yuna. The class began to laugh at her remark until she continued calling roll.
Sora felt someone tap his shoulder, and saw Riku had a piece of paper. He handed the note to Sora who immediately took it and opened it.
“Meet me at my house after school. We need to talk…” Sora read in his mind. When suddenly he felt the note get snatched away from him.
Confused he saw Yuna holding the paper and reading it out loud, “Meet me at my house after school.” And she stopped there. The kids began to howl and whistle, they must have thought the note was written from Sora for Kairi. Kairi then turned to Sora and whispered, “Can't wait.”
Those words were what Riku had said to him when he invited him over. He then realized that he wouldn't be able to meet Riku after school, and he so needed to talk to him to. He decided to talk to him during lunch later, and with that Yuna began her lesson on the Gettysburg Address.
The bell had just rung signaling the start of lunch. Sora had been waiting for this time all day. He immediately ran off to look for Riku, when he didn't see him in the lunch room he searched all throughout the school.
He checked the auditorium, libraries, and gym, but Riku was nowhere to be found. Then Sora thought of what Riku had said on the first day of school “I was kinda sleepy so I took a nap in the garden…” Sora immediately ran towards the garden and was welcomed to the sight of a beautiful Riku sleeping.
He took the time to look at Riku's traits besides his gorgeous eyes. Riku seemed so peaceful like he didn't care what others thought of him which was true. Seeing Riku so carefree gave Sora enough courage to be just as carefree.
He was going to awaken the sleeping silver haired teen with a kiss. Sora was about to kiss him when he saw emerald eyes staring at him, and once again Sora was captivated by his gaze. Riku began to stand up and spoke with a grin on his face, “What were you doing?” he asked knowing what Sora was up to.
“Nothing” replied Sora who was giving Riku a fake pout, “So what did you want to talk about?” Sora thought to get straight to the point on account of all the time he wasted looking for Riku.
“Well I see someone's in a hurry” said Riku still grinning, “Okay I say lets get it over with.”
Sora sat down to prepare for whatever was coming.
“If you really need me like you claimed last night…then I want you to…break up with Kairi to show that you really do care.”
Sora gasped, but then replied slowly, “Well I was planning on breaking up with her anyway” with a grin on his face which faded when he saw the seriousness in Riku's eyes.
“I know, but you have to break up with her right now…”finished Riku before leaving Sora to collect his thoughts.
Sora stared at the giant clock hanging from the main building of the school. “Damn, 12:45. There's only 15 minutes left of lunch and that's not much time to break up with Kairi.” He thought as he walked to where Kairi sitting with Selphie and her friend Yuffie.
They were talking about boys, clothes, and girly stuff which made it harder to approach her. He thought of Riku which gave him the courage to walk up to Kairi and her friends. He slowly walked up to her with his knees shaking.
“Um Kairi?” asked Sora extremely nervous.
“Yeah Sora?” wondered Kairi why her boyfriend was acting so strange.
“Can we talk… alone?” asked Sora.
“Um sure Sora” said Kairi as she followed Sora to a secluded area in the quad of the school. Sora thought he saw a glimpse of silver near where he took Kairi, but he quickly dismissed it.
“Kairi we've known each other for almost our entire lives right?” began Sora.
“Yeah…” replied Kairi not liking where the conversation was headed.
“Well, I've really enjoyed these last few years with you. We had great times like when we went to the annual carnival together for the first time as a couple. Sora then thought back to that time.
The carnival had to be one of the worst first dates in his life. It was raining, Kairi wouldn't go on any of the big scary rides, and they ended up going the love boat ride for the entire night, which was romantic at first, but soon became entirely boring after the tenth time going through it. The only good thing that came out of the night was that he was given his first kiss at the end, which now that he thought about it, he didn't really enjoy..
A tear running down Kairi's face brought him back to reality and now knew he had to finish what he started.
“I think we should start seeing other people…” ended Sora finally glad that he got it over with, but what he said made him sound so cliché.
“In other words….”sobbed Kairi, “you've already been seeing someone else…”
Sora was taken back by her remark, but lied kind of, “I haven't been seeing anyone else, I just need to be alone right now after all that's happened.”
“Happened! What happened since we've been together! You invited me over to your house, you kissed me so passionate this morning! What could have possibly happened in the last couple of hours that would make you want to break up with me!” Kairi had been yelling and a circle had formed around them.
Among the students Sora could see a worried Riku with concern in his eye.
“I didn't invite you over to my house, and I wasn't thinking of you when I kissed you. I just don't want to be with you anymore, just leave at that” said a sad Sora.
“How can you say that! You should at least tell me who this girl is and an explanation to this random break up! I thought you were a lot more mature than that!” still yelling.
“She's right. I have to give her some sort of explanation” thought Sora, “But should I lie? No. I have to tell her the truth, at least a part of it.”
“Fine. I am seeing someone else. You just don't cut it for me anymore. Actually you never really did. I was never really attracted to you, you bored me to death, we have nothing in common, all we ever did was kiss, but you can't grow a relationship based on physical emotions.
You were always so stubborn when it came to your emotions so I'm dumping you to be with someone else. So just leave me alone and consider yourself dumped!” Sora spoke his words very coldly to Kairi that she couldn't believe it.
SLAP -
The surrounding kids, who had gotten bigger, all gasped in shock as Kairi slapped the young brunette leaving a red mark on the side of his face. She raised her arm to slap him again, but a strong muscular arm grabbed her wrist and shoved her back. Sora looked up to see the silver haired teen looking as heroic as ever.
“Don't you ever hurt Sora again” threatened the silver haired teen.
“Who do you think you are! You barely even know Sora! Why are you protecting him!” yelled a confused Kairi.
“I know more about Sora than you'll ever know, and I am not going to let you touch a hair my Sora's head.” Said Riku with anger in his eyes.
The crowd gasped as they heard Riku claim Sora as his. Kairi in shock could do nothing but stare into space. Riku helped Sora up and gave him a soft tender kiss on the lips.
The crowd gasped as they saw Sora kiss back. The two teens did not end their kiss hoping that Kairi would run away in tears, but instead she began to yell.
“YOU LEFT ME FOR A GUY! YOU SICK BASTARD!”
Sora spoke with a smirk, “It's probably your fault why I'm with a guy in the first place”
Half the crowd gasped and the other half laughed at Sora's remark.
“Looks like I stole him from you” said Riku holding Sora in his arms with a smirk on his face.
“I hate you…” were Kairi's last words before she ran off in tears.
The crowd that surrounded Riku and Sora did not split. All who were there to witness what had just occurred were in shock. Most of the people in the crowd new Kairi and Sora since middle school and couldn't believe that sweet innocent Sora dumped her, and what was harder to believe was that he dumped her for a guy, a guy no one really knew.
It was like he came out of nowhere and stole Sora away from Kairi. Yet after awhile the crowd left as they heard the bell ring ending the lunch period. There stood Riku and Sora standing alone in each others arms not caring that they going to be late for their next class.
“So I'll see you tonight?” whispered the silver haired teen.
“I wouldn't miss it for the world” answered the young brunette snuggling closer to his…boyfriend.
The final bell rung and Sora ran off to see his boyfriend. He found Riku waiting for him near the school gates and together they held hands admiring the sunset. They walked hand in hand to the silver haired teen's house.
As they reached Riku's home the street lights began to turn on. The stars could be seen way up high in space and the moon was full on this beautiful night. This was the perfect way to end the day after everything that had happened earlier.
Sora notices a silver Ferrari parked in the driveway. “Strange” thought Sora, “That wasn't there before.” He then heard Riku curse under his breath.
“Shit” muttered Riku.
“What's wrong?” asked a curious Sora.
“Huh? Oh it's nothing, it's just that my dad's home.” answered Riku with worry in his voice.
“What's so bad about your dad?” now wondering why Riku sounded so worried.
“Nothing” lied Riku “except that you could be in danger…” thought Riku. “Why don't you go home and I'll see tomorrow, tonight's not really a good night for you to be over.”
Sora understanding that Riku was worried about him decided that Riku may be right.
“Okay, I'll see you tomorrow” said Sora as he gave Riku a passionate kiss. The one he wanted to give since he admitted his sexuality.
Riku slipped his tongue into the young brunette's mouth, Sora wanting to be dominant wrestled with that of Riku's. Sora eventually gave up and let Riku massage his tongue. Sora then felt Riku pull away with a look of horror on his face. Sora looked to where Riku was looking at.
He was staring at window from his house and Sora thought he saw silver hair before it disappeared.
“You got to go!” said Riku quickly.
“But”
“Now!” yelled Riku pushing Sora and ran off inside.
Sora could hear yelling for a couple of minutes as he left for his house. “What was that all about?” wondered Sora, “I've never seen Riku so scared. I'll ask him about it tomorrow.” thought Sora as he entered his home to be greeted by his mother.
Now that he broke up with Kairi he was in a better mood so that who could easily convince his mother that nothing was wrong with him.
After fooling his mother he stripped himself of his clothes and showered before going to sleep and dream of his Riku.
- back in Riku's home
“Who was that boy…” asked a taller version of Riku. The man looked just like him except for the height and the man's silver hair was longer and he was more muscular than Riku.
“He was no one…” lied Riku to his father, Sephiroth.
“Then why did he kiss you?” asked Sephiroth with a blank expression on his face and no emotion in his voice.
“Because he tripped” replied Riku knowing that his lie was really obvious.
“For 18.3 seconds?” asked Sephiroth with slight irritation in his voice.
“You counted as always” said Riku with a smirk on his face.
“Don't get wise me or I'll deal with him like the rest” threatened Sephiroth.
“You can't do that!” yelled Riku knowing well that his father would.
“I can and I will unless you get rid of him” bargained Sephiroth.
“I can't… I care too much for him” argued Riku.
“I don't care. Get rid of him or I'll make him get rid of you!” argued Sephiroth coldly.
“…”
“I'll take it that you will get the job done, now leave my sights” said Sephiroth with a smirk on his face.
Riku ran off to his room and thought how he would break it off with Sora.
“And we've only been together for one day, and I have to break it off” mumbled Riku, “but this is for his own good” “I can't do it… I won't break it off, there's something special about him. I don't care what Sephiroth does, he is not going to take Sora away from me!” and with that he went to sleep to dream of his beloved.
