"You know what, Michael, just shut up!"
17-year old Michael Wood stared at his about-to-be-old-girlfriend, Ami Victoria Kayleen Patrick, or Kay; brunette, sassy, and sweet sixteen. Michael tried to place his hand on her shoulder, but she jerked away quickly.
"Don't...touch me. Just don't. You lied to me countless times. Just forget it." Kay said. She wrestled Michael's highschool ring off her finger, and flung it at him. It bounced off his chest, and fell into his lap, as she stood abruptly from the little restaurant table. Her amber colored eyes, glistening with tears, stared at him with such ferocity that he almost cringed.
"I'm not just a little trophy, alright? Go find yourself a dumb blonde," Kay said hotly, turning on her heel, and walking out. The people in the restaurant clapped as Kay stomped out, sending angry glares at Michael. Michael shoved back from the table, and walked out the other door.
Kay ran weeping down the sidewalk, until she came to the high school, called Spring Meadow High. She flung herself on the bench, resting her chin in her hands, and trying to reside her tears. She had wrestled her tears back to hiccups, when there was a gentle touch on her shoulder. She spun around, and came face to face with a boy of about her age, maybe a year older, with silky black hair that hung slightly above his worry filled blue eyes in a slick bowl cut, smooth, pale skin, an almost angelic-like face, and freckles splashed across his nose and below his eyes.
"Are you ok?" he asked. Kay laughed lightly, rubbing tears from her cheeks.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Kay said, sighing softly. He sat beside her, but just enough away.
"You want to talk about it?" he asked, looking sincere.
"Ahh...it's nothing. I don't know whether I dumped him, or he dumped me. I suppose it was both. I dumped him because he can't stay focused on one girl at a time, if you know what I mean," Kay said, looking at him. He nodded, and smiled. Kay countinued. "He said he was dumping me because I was too...delicate?" Kay said, laughing bitterly. She whipped around to face the boy, staring at him hard. He averted his gaze from hers uncomfortably, and she smiled a little.
"Tell me honestly, do I look delicate to you? I know I don't play many sports, but..." Kay said, her voice trailing off.
"Well...you do...sort of...but not in a bad way." the boy said, shrugging. Kay sighed.
"Yeah...I guess so. He was a jock, you see. I can't believe I fell for him. He's a Senior, and is going to college to become a professional Football player." Kay said, disgusted.
"What about you?" the boy asked. Kay looked at him, and blinked.
"Well...I play Field hockey, but I was thinking about going to school for animation..." Kay said, her voice drifting off. "What are your intrests?" she asked. The boy chuckled.
"Professional Baseball." he said. "I'm Kenny."
"I'm Kay. Nice to meet you, now that I've just told my whole life story." Kay said, chuckling. Kenny smiled. Kay sighed, and rose, stepping into the lamp light, looking around her. Kenny now saw what she looked like in detail. She had slightly tanned skin, with a peach complexion, shoulder length brown hair, with coppery red and blonde highlights, liquid amber colored eyes, freckles splashed across her nose, and light purple tinted glasses, slipped up to hold her hair back. She wore a baby blue turtleneck tank top, navy blue zip-up sweatshirt, blue jean capris that showed off her perfect, long legs, and black heeled sandals that strapped across the top of her feet once, and then around her ankles.
Kay looked down at her hand, and rubbed the sore spot where Michael's ring had been. Kenny stood, and walked into the light with her, looking up at the clear summer night sky. He was slightly taller than Kay, even with her heels on, and an unreadable expression on his face. His deep blue eyes dropped down and met hers.
"I'll walk you home, if you want." Kenny offered. Kay nodded, gathering her purse to her chest.
"How come I've never seen you around school?" Kay asked as they walked.
"I try to hide myself. We'll just say I'm not well liked by everyone I meet." Kenny said, smiling. Kay chuckled, smiling back.
"Are you staying at Spring Meadow for Junior year?" Kay asked, as they walked.
"Yeah." Kenny said.
"Me too! Great! We'll be together!" Kay said, smiling. Kenny chuckled.
"Yup, I guess so. Is this your house?" Kenny asked, after about five minutes as they stopped outside what seemed like a large house.
"Yes. My Mom, My Dad, my two sisters and I live here." Kay said, waving at a red haired girl through the window. Kay turned and smiled at him. "Thanks for listening, and walking me home." Kay said, smiling, and walking up the path to her house. Kenny smiled back, feeling a little weak in the knees. As she walked in, and shut the door, Kenny turned around, shoving his hands into his pockets, and walking away.
