Chapter 3

"Fuck, 2 am." Kiko mumbled, she couldn't sleep, the buzz in her head was gone, and the night sky was blazing in her room. She stood up out of the silky sheets and looked out her window. She saw Terry, sitting by the pool, with a bottle of JD. Rolling here eyes she looked at her self, still in her bikini, sighing heavily she walked out of her room, into the kitchen, grabbing Joe's white button up she put it on. But before going to the poolside, she looked around. She couldn't help but feel concerned, and since Terry barely ever remembered things when he was drunk, she went outside.

Sitting down next to him, he didn't even flinch.

"Not sleeping?" She said softly, in her sweet tone she had for everyone but Terry most of the time.

"Nope."

"Why?"

"When did you start to care?" He asked.

"Always have."

"Right, you're a great liar."

"Yeah, when you're sober. I'm not lying Terry." She said in a serious sounding voice. Terry adjusted his hat. "You should know that I do love you Terry. And walking away was something I had to do you know." She had to finally tell him, even if he wouldn't remember. "Prove I could." She added. Spilling her gut to a drunk, ha! "You made me feel like shit, and that's partly my fault. I never told you. But I can't fall into that hole again. It's not safe for me." She lied, but why stop?

"So then why not? Why walk away, you've done that most of you're life kid."

"And I'm good at it." She smiled a little, it was kinda funny, but then it wasn't. Terry turned to her, the first time he made eye contact. He leaned in; she didn't stop him either. He kissed her.

The birds wouldn't stop crying outside. The daylight was flaming in the room. Terry rolled over, his eyes burning for the suns rise. He rolled over and put his arm his girl. He could just feel his head beginning to blister over. He ran his hand over her back. He sighed, then realized something. His eyelids shot open. It wasn't his beauty blond.

Kio's eyes stared straight ahead; she was almost scared to move. Her eyes raced over the floor, SHIT! She whined in her mind, seeing her clothes all over the floor. Finally getting the courage, she turned her head slightly, Terry's eyes where wide open. They didn't say a thing as she rolled over and covered her chest. They made eye contact.

"You were, I mean we were."

"DRUNK!" Terry said as Kio nodded her head in agreement. She was almost hysterical. She slept with Terry. Terry slept with her. They almost tired to make each other feel better by joking about it. They stared at each other, speechless.

"Well," Kiko said before shooting out of Terry's bed, her naked body glistened in the sun, Terry for some reason didn't turn away, And Kiko said nothing while placing her bathing suit on, then putting Joe's shirt over it. She shook her hair out of her face, then looked over at Terry. She wanted to say something, but didn't. She just walked out. She got into the kitchen, no one awake. YES!

Kio reached over and poured some milk and drank it.

"Up finally." Mia said as Kio was shocked and accidentally spat her milk onto the floor. Mia stood still, then tossed Kiko a towel.

"Damn, scare the shit out of me." She sighed while leaning over and wiping up the milk. Mia gave a strange grin.

"Where were you this morning, went to see if you wanted to go for a jog, you weren't there." Mia gave a unique glanced.

"Yeah, I was on the phone, with Ryu." She lied. Mia nodded her head, she accepted the answer, but somehow never it was a lie. Andy entered the room with the phone in hand.

"Just got done talking to Joe." Andy said, Mia eyed Kio. Kio smiled and put her glass in the sink.

"Well, I need to head out. Things to do you know." She said while walking away. She headed into her room and shut her door.

Kiko said her good-byes to her friends; little did they know she was on a quest. She didn't call Ryu cause she can't find him. Neither can Ken. She also was overwhelmed, she and Terry made love last night, there was no doubt. She had to get away. Kio couldn't believe she allowed herself too. She was caught up in the moment; it seemed like one huge blur though. She didn't like having an affair with the man she knew she could never grasp firmly and keep to herself. But it happened, and Kio would never take it back. She walked in her normal clothes on the wooden path, in silence.

"Thought you'd run?"

"Yeah, I have things I need done. Yesterday was for Joe."

"But today is your birthday."

"Terry," She turned around. "I have other things to do. I have no time to celebrate anything." She said, not in a snappy voice though.

"I'm coming with you." She glared at him in the `why' look. "We need to talk. I'd love to just walk away and act like nothing happened, but we both know this will haunt us." She nodded her head, as they stayed voiceless for the rest of the day.
