Chapter 2

One Winged Shinigami

 

Duo's POV:

 

So, instead of being gently lifted out of sleep like a normal person, I find myself jolted awake by some unknown power and immediately sitting up and gasping for air. It took a few minutes to get my body to calm down after which I tried to figure out where I was, it certainly wasn't a battlefield, and I appeared to not be dead, lest hell had black silken beds, which was what I was lying in at the moment, butt naked might I add. I scratched my scalp in frustration of not being able to figure out where the hell I was.

 

“… You're quite a strange one, you know?”

 

Normal POV:

 

Duo's head shot around to rest on the man sitting in the corner, emerald met amethyst for the second time, only this time it was the silver haired man with the smirk on his face.

 

After a moment Duo smiled, “Yeah, so I've heard, might I ask what I'm doing here, wherever here is?”

 

The man stood and glided over to window it seemed, pushing the black curtain to the side a bit so that rays of light fell across his face and into the room. The man seemed distant, as well as angelic, for a moment before he said,

 

“You, you are interesting…”

 

“Huh? In what way?”

 

He turned to face towards Duo, away from the window, but let the curtain stay open, which let blinding light fall across half of Duo's face, which twitched in response.

 

“I would like to know the person who would sacrifice their life for a kiss from an enemy stranger.”

 

Duo smiled an almost goofy grin, “Oh that, all I wanted was a kiss before dying is that so hard to come by?”

 

“… I suppose not…”

 

“Cause you see I knew as soon as our weapons connected that you outmatched me a bit in fighting ability, so after you stabbed me I thought I would be minced or something of the sort. Realizing that, I also found that it would be terribly sad to die before I even got to attempt to kiss one such as you. You are, after all, very sexy.”

 

“I see, so it was lust for me that drove you to do that?”

 

At this Duo chuckled a bit, “Most certainly not, you might be the sexiest piece of ass out there but lust would mean I wanted to do you, and I'm afraid my friend that you're not exactly my type, especially when it comes to matters such as those.”

 

“… good, one less thing to be concerned about”

 

“Yeah a bet you get that a lot don't ya? People who like you for your looks and nothing more.”

 

“Sigh, yes and it's very grating on the nerves…”

 

“The squealing fan girls, ne?”

 

He smiled, “… exactly… you speak as if you have some experience yourself hmm?”

 

“How insightful of you, yeah I do get that a lot, but probably not nearly as much as you; though for some reason I get a lot of butt ugly guys after me as well.”

 

“Oh, how unfortunate…”

 

Duo mumbled, “Tell me about it… Hey so you have a name mister sexy pants?”

 

At the name Sephiroth raised an eyebrow, “I am known as One Winged Angel.”

 

“Oh wow you're pretty famous too aren't ya? You have a rep longer than my and your hair combined…”

 

“Yes, and on the contrary I have never even heard of Shinigami.”

 

“Haha, yeah well what can I say? It must be that I'm shy, don't want too many people knowing about me.”

 

“You? Shy? I think not…”

 

“Yeah I suppose so; in any case can I ask a favor?”

 

“That depends on the favor…”

 

“Umm, can I borrow a brush; my hair's a bloody mess.”

 

Sephiroth smiled, “certainly…”

 

Over time Sephiroth and Duo became best of friends despite their differences, the war between Gods and Demo-gods was completely crushed under the might of the two them. ((Corny but had to be done))

 

“Ooh yeah did you see that last one; it was all blame, blame, boom!!”

 

“Shini…”

 

“… Yes One Winged”

 

“Shut up, you're ruining the moment.”

 

In reply Duo stuck out his tongue at Sephiroth and then turned to face the obliterated army that lay before them.

 

“We got them all good” he stated

 

“There is no one left to kill…” replied Sephiroth

 

“Hey One Winged?”

 

“… Yes?”

 

“My umm, my coming of age ritual is going to start soon…”

 

Sephiroth smirked at that, “Really, so is mine, perhaps we will travel to the same world.”

 

“Sigh, I hope so I'll miss you, even if I don't remember you…”

 

“Yes I rather enjoy your company… even if you are rather irritating at times…”

 

“Hey!!!... Sigh but really, what if I, what if I fail?”

 

“Why, I can't see this ritual being very difficult for you…”

 

“Do you really think that a mortal could survive Shinigami's love? Even gods fall prey to him…”

 

“Well I'm confidant that someone can; I think you deserve it after all…”

 

“Really?”

 

“Indeed”

 

“Wow thanks, and you too, I'm sure that someone out there will be able to fall in love with your true self, instead of your image… Watch out for fan girls though, obsessed mortals are apparently VERY scary.”

 

Sephiroth smiled, “Yes and watch out for those scary ugly men, after all there are tons of those in the mortal world.”

 

Duo shuddered, “Yikes, I don't like the sound of that. So when are you going?”

 

“Tonight at midnight mortal time, it's the best time to travel after all…”

 

“Really? I'm going then too, I even wrote it down see?” Duo pulled his long sleeve up a bit to show the date and time he was leaving branded in black on his left wrist.

 

“I did this a while ago but…” Sephiroth pulled off one black glove to show the same date in black tattooed on the web of his left hand.

 

“Hehe great minds think alike…”

 

Sephiroth smirked, “I hope you're not suggesting that you're intelligent… I thought Shinigami didn't lie…”

 

“Ok that's it, you are dead meat…” with that he jumped and tackled Sephiroth which caused a short wrestling match which ended with Duo sitting very high up on Sephiroth's chest, and yet sort of stuck there seeing as his legs were pinned underneath the both of them… “I'm really going to miss you, promise you'll come find me after you've completed it.”

 

Sephiroth slowly nodded his head in agreement.

Just before Midnight

 

“Well this is it…” Duo was lying on his back on the floor with his hands crossed over his stomach.

 

“I suppose…” Sephiroth was lying on his back as well but his hands were by his sides.

 

Duo grinned and said “See you on the flip side…” and with that the clock struck midnight and both their eyes shut involuntarily, their bodies rose a few inches off the ground and started to glow. Sephiroth glowed emerald green while Duo glowed violet. The light got brighter and brighter until it shot out from inside them and disappeared through the ceiling.
