.....................Meanwhile..................... ......Four boys walked leisruely through a nearby park that day. They trekked the paths at a steady pace. Pausing here and there, avoiding wayward baseballs and children being chased by other children, sometimes an adult. Though they seemed normal, someone with the right knoweldge would be able to identify them easily. You just had to play Duel Monsters.
Of course, the boys were none other than the Weilder-Of-The-Blue-Eyes himself, Seto Kaiba. Fondly called Blue Eyes by his female fans, but not for his prize dragons in his deck. Beside him was his current...**ahem** love interest, one of the reigning Game Kings, Yami Yugi. Next to the stotic, black wearing Egyptain, was Katsuya Jounouochi. Jouno more commonly called. He had his head turned, paying attention to the small boy beside him, Yuugi Mutoh. He was Yami Yugi's partner in dueling and holding the title of "Game King".
"So Yug, where we going todah?" Jouno asked, his Brooklyn accent tilting the words. Yugi just shrugged his shoulders. He had his deck out in his hands, shuffling through it. To Jouno's other side, Yami (I'll call him Yami for short) was twisting around the cord that held the Millenium Puzzle around his neck. Seto was involved in a deep discussion with him about an up-coming Tournament they had all received invites too.
"Didn't everyone who dueled in Battle City and the Airship get invites?" Yami asked. Seto nodded. Yugi looked at his dark-side.
"Hey! That mean Anzu got one too! She battled the Number Two, remember?" At that moment, they all did a dead stop.
"Hoo-buddy, Anzu..." Jouno sighed. "If we duel her.....it's possible she'll attack us." he replied. Seto snorted breifly.
"She'll be no problem" he said confidently. Yugi shook his head.
"Don't put her down Kaiba...she didn't win that duel against Number Two by batting her eyes. Anzu's got plently of skills, plus one of the best Light Decks around. I remember right, she pulled off that Winged Messenger/Shine Caslte combo and blew your Blue-Eyes to Kingdom-Come!" Yugi defended his friend. Seto's face went a little blank, before he dismissed the entire thing with a "hmph..".
Yugi wondered how Anzu would feel about what he said right now. When....when he had to break the news to her, that he and Yami didn't love her, never considered her than more a friend...she had broke down. She had run from them blindly that night, weeping bitterly. Still today, he couldn't shake the vision of her face from his eyes. Her eyes had seemed to shatter that moment. Like she had just.....lost it. It was a haunting vision.
Ever since, she had avoided all of them interly. She became cold and distant. Almost like a stranger.
"Nani?" Yami asked as his Puzzle began to glow. "Someone's preforming some powerful magic nearby..." he muttered. He turned west a bit, and pointed. "Look!!"
In that direction, against the fading dusk sky, a small pillar of white light was coming down to earth. It wasn't anything like a shooting star, for the tail of it remained a steady thickness. It seemed to be attracted by something.
"We better check that out, c'mon!" Yugi cried out, and took off running into the residental district. Knowing nothing else to do, the three boys followed him.
Maii meandered the streets of Domino. She was in town for a rest and to catch up on the gang. She walked down the streets, only to be nearly trucked over by Jouno, Yugi, Seto, and Yami, all running like bats outta hell in the other direction. She stopped for a moment, enough for them to round the corner before she shrugged her shoulders and went to follow.
They came closer and closer. The white light was almost over their heads now. Maii had caught up with them several blocks back. Yugi looked around and found the area they were in familiar.
"This.......is...Anzu's neigh...borhood!" he cried.
Oh great..... was all Seto thought.
Yami looked at the Puzzle, glowing brighter than before. Each step they took towards the light, the more it glowed, almost burning. What in the name of Ra is going on here?? This is very forbodding... He kept running.
She flet her feet lift off the tiles of her roof. The white light adjusted, and she was able to see out into the city she was about to leave behind. Despite her sadness, her tail wagged in happiness, she was going home.
"Home......." she giggled. "Home!!" she cried out, facing the city, shaking her fist in truimph. "Hear that, you miserable place? I'm going home, I'm going to be happy again, so help me Alexander!" She rose faster and faster, now above the level of the treetops. She looked up, and streched her arms up, greeting the mass of crackling and sizzling energies that was her gate to home. She closed her eyes, Alexander's Crystal in her hands, and the voices she had missed for so long became strong again. Her Eidolons sang in joy, for they were going home too.
"Anzu!!!" a voice cried from below, but she didn't hear it. She just drifted up, on angel wings, to the light in the sky.
In Egypt, Malik's Rod began to glow and vibrate in it's place on his mantle. Beside him, under his shirt, Bakura's Ring did the same. Malik, blinking confusedly, stood up and picked up the Rod.
"What's going on here?" he asked. Bakura shrugged.
"Like bloody hell I know.." he said back. He picked up the Ring from where it was tucked under his shirt. He held the glittering Item up to the light. "My Yami has no idea what's going either..." he replied.
"Neither does mine. I wonder if.."-BAAM!!! Isis charged into the room, Tauk in hand, it glittering like the others.
"What's going on??" she asked. Both boys shook their heads in confusion. "Well, something's happening!!" she cried.
"I think this may have something to do with Yugi..." Bakura whispered.
"You have that feeling too?" Isis asked. Bakura nodded. Isis went to say more, but was halted as Malik cried out, his body slowly being engulfed in the same light that the Rod was brimming with. It looked like he was on fire.
"Malik!!!" Isis cried, fearful for her brother. She shouldn't have bothered, for the next moment, she was in the same situation. Then Bakura. The lights burned brighter like novas. Then it was dark again, the lights dissapeared.
But Isis, Malik, and Bakura were gone
Esto Gaza, Northern Continent.
The bishop of Esto Gaza, ever the crotchity, disagreeable old man that he was, was outside Esto Gaza one exceptionally crisp, cool morning, watching the relfection of the remains of Shimmering Isle in the near distance. He had once been just a slightly disagreeable old man, prone to the mood swings typical of some people as they entered their twilight years. But ever since that gang of .......desacrating baffons had come and destroyed the Path of Souls, his mood swings had become more feirce til he was just plain out unpleasant all the time now. But he couldn't be too loud about his complaints. Two of those bafoons now ruled Gaia's main superpower. Another was on her way to ruling the second of Gaia's superpower, and the planet's main source of Mist-less engines. One was the most powerful black mage on the planet. Another was the most renowned of all Burmecia's Dragon Knights. One of the others was the Chef of Alexandria's castle. Another member was married to the mighty General Beatrix, and protector of the aforementioned couple that sat on the throne of the big superpower. The last was a well respected and the only legal bounty hunter.
The bishop sighed, at least they had contributed enough money to allow Esto Gaza to expand into Mt.Gulug, and make the once abandoned mines into a lucrative dwelling area for pilgrims who came to witness the Path of Souls. So he couldn't complain. This made him even madder at the group than before, they took away his favorite thing to do, complain. Because he couldn't complain, he became very disagreeable, which was the begining of the downfall of his limited plesantness.
Oh well, the pattern began again.
Well, before the author got carried away again in useless and rather dull plot sub-sructure, the Bishop was standing out on the balcony of Esto Gaza, gazing longingly at the decimated Shimmering Isle. He was watching the waves crash against the justs and craigs of the crystaline land, when he just happened to see something in the upper part of his vision.
"Darn Moogle...I told them not to come here ag........." the Bishop stopped, what he had saw was no furry, pom-pomed little moogle, but a strange beam of light falling from the sky, and heading straigh for the Shimmering Isle's ruins. He watched in stunned silence, his usually tight lipped mouth now spilt to the floor in wonder. It took him a few seconds..or rather, a few minuets, for the aged brain in his skull to come up with some reason for this light. He fell to his knees, which ached with arthritis, and shouted loud enough for the whole village, and the Red Dragons that lay in the deepest bowls of the volcano to lift their heads up in wonder.
"A MIRACLE! IT'S A MIRACLE!!!!!!!!!!"
Natives of the village and patrons and pilgrims came scurrying, to witness this "miracle". They gathered around the patio and watched the beam of light, many tracing it back up to a strange rift in the sky. Among the observers were two preticular figures. They saw the beam of light, and turned to each other.
"Hey Blank?"
"Yeah Bro?"
"That's not a miracle, is it?"
"Nope."
"That's the transport beam with Zidane's kid in it, isn't it?" this man had a bandana covering most of his forehead and eyes.
"Yep." His companion, as strange as it seems, had a belt over his eyes.
"Then why are we standing here, and not getting Alexandria on the line and telling Zidane and Dagger their kid has come back?"
"Because I'm checking out this gal infront of me.."
"Which gal?"
"The one with the black suit on."
"Blank...that's a nun."
"It is??"
"Yup."
"Damnit Marcus, do you have to ruin everything with facts??"
"It was either I ruin it, or you be caught flirting with a holy woman."
"She's not a holy woman...she's just saving herself." he grinned.
"Yeah, she's saving herself." Marcus grinned back. "But for a far better man than you! Now come ON!!!"
Yugi laid on his back, looking up at a pristine blue sky. Dotting the blue sky were grey clouds, which let loose floating flakes of ivory snow upon his face. His eyes hurt, his head hurt, heck, everything hurt! All he remembered was stepping into that beam of light to stop Anzu...then he started floating too. He was high above Domino City when he lost conciousness. Yami had reached into the beam to grab his legs, and was taken with him. Seto grabbed Yami, and Jouno grabbed Seto. Last of all, Maii grabbed Jouno, and they were all going up like an elevator.
crunch crunch!!
Yugi rolled over, his cheek hitting something cold. Yeah, the snow. It was the snow. Once his fogged brain registered that fact, he looked around. The others had ended up much like him, scattered around the ground, heaped up, unconcious. He wove to his feet and looked around. They were on some small island, currently being pounded by the surf. Their little island was one of the many in the immeadiate area. To the north, he could see the shoreline of another land mass, seeminly larger than the islands.
The light from the ground was eeire, to say the least. it gave the entire place a mysticism. The only thing he could do was to walk around til the others woke. He paced about, watching and listening intently for any signs of life of a ship that might help them. He wondered..just what had happened here??
Anzu......where did you take us??
