An Angel's Knight

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters from FF8. All I own is a Rinoa role play journal and a copy of the game. Also to those if the FFVIII RPG Mode who read this, yes this is based off our role play and has some of the same elements. I have permission from Ran to use these elements ok? Don't flame me it's just a fic.

This story is dedicated to Ran. Thanks for the fun in FFVIII RPG Mode.

~*~ Part 1---The Fallen Angel ~*~

Rinoa looked up from her text book and groaned. The written exam was in 2 hours and she'd been studying all night. I must pass this. I must not fail my friends. she thought with determination as she closed the book and got up. Stretching and yawning, she took a shower and changed. She made herself some breakfast and sat down to review elements one last time.

Seifer smirked at his reflection. This test will be no sweat. Then I finally pass the field exam and I'll be a Seed. I'll show those stupid cadets what I'm really made of! He finished getting ready and walked out of his dorm. There he saw Fujin and Rajin.

"Hey Fujin, Rajin, ready for the big bad test?" Seifer joked.

"AFFERMATIVE." Fujin replied

"I guess so, I just hope we all pass ya'know? it'd be sad if we failed." He said "Ouch!" he shouted soon after as Fujin kicked his shin.

Seifer shook his head and led the trio to Quistis Trepe's Classroom. As they got closer he saw her. Rinoa Heartilly. She had her brow knit in concentration on her book and almost ran into the wall. Stopping short, she giggled and walked inside. Seifer felt a smile come to his lips. She's so pretty. Why did she have to end up with Lionheart-less anyway? Seifer shook his head slightly as he sat down and prepared for the test.

After the test was over the students left and many headed to lunch. Seifer, Fujin and Rajin all headed to the cafeteria and got the special of the day, rubberized mac and cheese. Seifer glanced around and noticed Rinoa sitting all alone. She was glancing around looking for someone. She's probly waiting for Squall. he thought bitterly. For a split second he considered going over and saying something to her, but he couldn't do it. I'm almost as much of a chicken-wuss as Zell. he thought as he sat down and tied to eat the lame excuse for food in front of him.

Rinoa picked at her lunch. She'd noticed Seifer staring at her. She wondered why he was doing that. She shook her head a looked again at her watch with a sigh. He said he'd be here at 12:30. It was 1:30. She sighed and put away her tray. I'll sit here for five more minutes and if he doesn't show up I'm going back to my room. But after that five minutes he still wasn't there. She walked back to her dorm and let out Angelo. Since Garden had been moved back to Balamb permanently, She'd put up a little fence for Angelo to run in. She turned on her computer and checked her email. She had a message from Selphie that read:

Time: 9:57:47 -2100 BST

Rinoa smiled and clicked the link her friend had provided. After reading a little she decided to get one too. She also found an instant messenger that had become popular in Garden and decided to get that as well. Might as well keep up with the times She thought with a grin. She got the messenger up and running and added Selphie to her list of friends on it. She was going to make an entry in her new journal when something popped up on her screen asking her if she'd accept a message.

She clicked yes and a window came up with the following message

FiraSeiferAlmasy: Hi Rinoa

HeartillyRin: Hi Seifer

She clicked on something else while waiting for his reply and soon heard a noise like a door slam. She looked at her friends list for the program and noticed that He'd signed off. hmmmmm

Later that night the results were posted for the field exam. Rinoa had passed as had Seifer, Fujin, Rajin, and Irvine. Instructions on where and when (tomorrow yikes!) to report for the field exam were posted as well and Rinoa took them down and planned accordingly. Back at her computer she made the following entry in her journal:



Rinoa sat back and shut her eyes trying to imagine herself as a SeeD. Then, another message popped up and asked her if she'd join a chat room called "Balamb". The invitation had been sent by a "ZellDincht03". She grinned and accepted. Once she was there she noticed that everyone was there. Well almost everyone. Selphie, Irvine, Seifer, Fujin, Zell, Quistis and Nadia were all there, but Squall was not. This didn't surprise her much as Squall was never much for socializing, weather it be on or off line.

The chat went well although Seifer was rather quiet. Zell amused everyone by pointing out the fact that he was surprised Fujin didn't think in one-word phrases. Rinoa rolled her eyes at the screen. Zell could be so dense. They got to talking about the field exam and eventually everyone signed off. Rinoa made one more entry in her journal before she turned off her computer and picked up her phone to call Squall. When he didn't answer she frowned and hung up. He must be really busy or something.

Seifer stared at his computer screen. He'd had all afternoon and all night to tell Rinoa how he felt and he still chickened out. He noticed Squall didn't show up and like Rinoa, was not surprised. He looked up the site where those journals were hosted that everyone had mentioned. Apparently they were getting popular among Garden students. He found Selphie's and noticed it was linked to another journal, Rinoa's. He clicked it and book marked it so he could read it when he wanted to. He debated on getting a journal of his own, but thought better of it. Turning off his computer and his light he went to bed thinking of Rinoa.

The next day, all the SeeD candidates lined up in their uniforms to receive their orders. Xu got up in front of the crowd and told them of their mission:

"We have been summoned by Deling City officials since the Galbadian Army are out of commission for awhile. Deling City is constantly being attacked by monsters which is being summoned by a bigger monster off the beaches of Deling City. Said to be a huge water monster, so underwater battle is more than likely to commence. You up for this everyone?"

The Garden cadets saluted and were put into their squads. Rinoa was placed with Irvine and Fujin with Seifer as the squad leader. Seifer? why him? Rinoa thought as they climbed into the Raganok for departure. On the flight they were given their city assignments. Rinoa was glad that their squad was stationed not only away from her father's house, but away from the underwater battles as well. She didn't want to have to rely on her Angel Wing Limit Break because Angelo couldn't help them underwater.

Seifer watched Rinoa during the flight. She's just so beautiful. She's an angel. Squall better treat her right or I'll kill him. Maybe they aren't a couple after all. Maybe I have a chance? his thoughts were interrupted buy Rajin yelling after Fujin, once again, had kicked his shin.

Once despatched in Deling City, the group started attacking the monsters and saving the people around them. Then a nasty T-Rexaur came out of the bushes nearby. The team prepared it's attack but the monster whirled around and hit Rinoa with it's tail taking out 3/4 of her HP. Struggling to get up she called for Angelo. Angelo didn't come. The other party members were all summoning GF's so they couldn't cure Rinoa. Her turn came up again and this time she picked her "Angel Wing" Limit break. She ignored the gasps of the people watching as white feathered wings came out of her back. She flew into the air and went into her trance. After the GF's were summoned, Seifer Cast Curaga on Rinoa as she hit the monster with a few rounds of Blizzaga. When the battle was over, Rinoa fell to the ground in a heap.

Seifer, noticing that the monsters were gone and that the mission was over, Picked up Rinoa and carried her to the Raganok to be looked at by the Medical Team of SeeDs. The ship took off back towards Balamb as Seifer worried and waited.
