Chapter 5.

Warning: A new character using some bad language.

Sorry for the long gap in updates but I've just come back from holiday. I wrote loads of this when I was in Florida so I'm near the end now I'll type it up soon.

The little blonde gingerly looked into the main dining room where the beast paced back and forth. He hesitated but the feather duster nudged him. "Don't be afraid, he won't hurt you." She smiled and whispered. "In human form, he's very hot."

Zell smirked. "More so than Irvine?"

Quistis glanced around then leaned in closer to him. "No one's hotter than my cowboy."

Zell smiled. He always thought she was quiet and shy and would never say things like that. He took a deep breath and stepped into the room. The beast turned when he heard the door creak. Slowly Zell walked over to him, flinching when the beast bared his teeth, maybe it was a smile but it wasn't a very good one. The beast always seemed threatening to Zell even when he acted more human.

"You came."

The blonde nodded. "W-What's for d-dinner?"

Squall was about to speak when the oven hopped out of the kitchen shouting curses and swear words. The door fell open and the buttons fell off.

"How the FUCK do you expect me to work like THIS?!" He ran a hand over his buttons causing more to fall off. The oven spoke with a French accent, which surprised Zell.

Some burnt, charred food fell out of the broken door. "If you want food, you make it yourself."

The beast flinched and sat staring at the table not knowing what to do.

"We could order a take-away." The blonde suggested.

Squall raised an eyebrow.

"I know a great hotdog away. I love hotdogs!" He grinned hopefully.

The beast disappeared into the kitchen. "Irvine," he called. "Stop groping Quisty and come here."

The candlestick put down the blushing feather duster and brushed his hands over his candle stick base.

"I need you to go out and get some hotdogs."

"Hotdogs?"

"Ernie's broken down again and Zell wants hotdogs."

The blonde sat alone for what seemed like ages before the beast came back, his arms full of plates of hotdogs. Zell's eyes lit up at the sight of his favourite food. He grabbed a plate.

"This is so cool! You know hotdogs are way better than any of your fancy food. I've had hotdogs since I was little; I can eat tons of these things."

The beast watched the boy change from being quiet and afraid to being happy, excited and loud. He happily tucked into his food telling Squall about the wonders of hotdogs. The brunette actually thought it was pretty cute. The beast watched transfixed as Zell took the hotdogs out of their buns and sucked on them without biting.

"What are you doing?"

Zell looked up innocently; not knowing what Squall was staring at. "It's good to sample the taste before you eat it." He smiled innocently up at Squall.

The beast crossed his legs, moving his eyes to his plate.

Zell had just finished his first hotdog when he glanced up at the beast; he had to do a double take he was so surprised at what he saw.

Did the ferocious beast just blush? Over what? He wasn't doing anything wrong.

"What's the matter?"

Squall shook his head without looking up.

Zell shrugged and continued his dinner.

"Where is he?! I've guarded his precious game shop for days but he hasn't turned up. He can't go without games for that long." The tall blonde paced in the local tavern, his admirers sat around the edge of the room watching his every move. They weren't really listening to him, they would do or say anything to get his attention. They were mere sheep yet Seifer loved their attention but he would trade them all in for Zell. The muscled dark man watched his best friend go on and on about Zell. The obsession was unhealthy, unnatural and unnecessary. There were many people who would jump at the chance to be with Seifer, Raijin included but he would never admit that he wanted more from his best friend. It made him angry when his friend followed the only boy who obviously wasn't interested and he treated Raijin like dirt.

"Where is he? Is he just avoiding me or has he left town?" Seifer sighed and turned to his admirers. "Have you guys seen him?"

The group shook their heads sadly.

"Do you think he hates me?"

The crowd hastily disagreed. "Hate you? How could anyone hate you?"

"He's crazy not to want you."

"You deserve better."

"Everybody loves you."

Raijin turned away in disgust.

Seifer smiled. "You're right, I love you guys."

The crowd grinned; some of the women fainted from sheer joy. "All I have to do is be patient right? He'll be mine eventually."

"But Seif..."

The blonde turned to look at his friend. "Why chase him if he doesn't want you? Why not go for someone who's interested."

The blonde barked a laugh. "Raijin you don't seem to understand. There is no one as good as him, or anyone anywhere near as hot as Zell." He flung his arms back. "All that's left are these bunch of dweebs and they aren't worthy of me."

The dark man flinched slightly but he nodded in agreement, Seifer was right.

"Anyway," the blonde spun round on the spot. "We still have to find him to make sure he's still in town. I want you guys to form a search party. The one who finds him gets a kiss from me."

The crowd stampeded out the door, pushing and shoving to get out first. Raijin lagged behind.

"I do have a back up option."

"What?"

"If Zell refuses me I have a back up in mind."

"Who?"

"Doesn't matter. Zell won't refuse me, just find him for me."
