She walked quietly down the street, but had a sweet smile on her face. The bag of food she was carrying bounced with every step. She would hurry, but at the corner was a man with dark hair that defied the law of gravity.

"Hey babe!" Zack called out to Aeris. She looked at him in a disgusted manner.

"Don't call me that!" She said with a huff. "What are you doing near my shop?"

"Hey, it's a free world! I can go were I please little missy!" he took her hand and pulled her toward him. She landed with a thud against his chest, dropping her bags.

"Zack! Please let go!" Aeris said as she tried to push him away.

"Come on! Give me another chance!" Zack pleaded. Aeris shook her head.

"We…are…through! Now let me go!" she yelled. Zack glared down at her.

"That's not an option! You're coming with me!" he yelled. He began to drag her but she screamed for help. Zack forcefully put his hand over her face to stop her from screaming.

Just as he was about to drag her into an alleyway, she felt a mighty blow to Zack's face. He let go of Aeris and she ran to see her savior. She was in aw.

Zack wiped the blood from his mouth. He looked up as was momentarily frozen.

A tall man with long black hair and clad in a red trench coat stood before him. Giant, black leathery wings on his back was what caught Zack's eye. And his eyes..they were…

A gold metal claw reached out and grabbed Zack's throat. It was so cold against his throat.

"What trash," the man spoke quietly. His face was hidden behind the coat's collar. He then threw Zack against the brick wall behind him, making a permanent indent of his body.

Aeris was so thrilled. This stranger was indeed strange looking, but he helped her and so must be really kind.

"Thank you!" Aeris said kindly. The man turned his head slightly. She couldn't see his eyes. He nodded his head curtly. His wings expanded and in one flap, he was gone. Aeris looked up and tried to find him, but saw only blue sky and clouds.

"Uhgh…," Zack moaned. Aeris glared down at him.

"Serves you right!"
