Regret
Can you feel my regret?
It’s as real as the blood
that spills upon my hands.
The blood of innocents
The blood of sinners
Fate never deals a kind hand
to one who’s demise is already planned.
Some die of old age
Others of heart ache.
Then there’s the occasional murder
Or suicide attempt
People become desperate
and disillusioned
They’ll do anything they can
to save themselves
They’ll use others to their full extent
and not give a damn about them
in the end.
Avoidance will become top priority
You expect a pitiful coward
to face his problems head on?
I think not.
Any plan sounds like a good one
when it’s not concerned with death
Want to know what I regret?
All of the years I have spent
in self-pity and self-loathing.
What should have done
was start living again.
As of now
That is what I regret.
Life is cold and cruel.
But that’s no excuse
to run away from it all
Everyone has regrets
No matter how big or small
No matter what
you are not alone
Believe me
I know
When you’ve lived as long as I have
you just know.
