Chapter 6
Taira gave me a firm hand shake, “The name’s Donattsu.” I replied to him.
“Please you to meet you.” He said as he introduced his friends, “These are my comrades, to my left is Amaxong, and to the right is Keno.”
The both of them took a bow of courtesy, “Let us aid you.” Amaxong said pulling down the bottom part of his face mask.
Keno took off his helmet to greet us, “That bastard king won’t get away with what he did!” raising his spear.
“We got ourselves a feisty one,” Kennen said making his jokes.
“Question… how did the three of you end up together, kind of awkward seeing a Ninja with a Samurai and a Dragoon…?” Sophie said nudging for their story.
Taira spoke for them, “King Baltheir raided my village and took everything away from me, dishonored my father and took his life. I’ve been searching for a way to make this king fall. Not long after I found Amaxong from the village of Ninjas, even they were not able to withstand the wrath of Baltheir.” Taira was interrupted by Keno.
“And he killed my dragons!” he said in rage.
“Dragons?” I said in confusion.
“He has a habit of doing this, and he might ramble on.” Amaxong spoke.
“I lived in the Mountains of Terrigan! With Tiamat, Fafnir, Jormungand, and Shinryu, but Bahamut annihilated everything! All I’m left with is George…” he finished his rant as a small baby Wyvern flew down from the skies.
“Oh my god it’s so cute!” Sophie immediately grabs George and start to play with him.
“Hey! He bites!” Keno shouted as George felt warmth from Sophie. “Damn it! He is supposed to bite you!”
Sophie took George for a walk.
“We have a weird one on our hands” Hoango stated.
“I can work with weird,” Kennen replied.
“We should,” I got cut off by a strong gust of wind, “What in the world!”
It was too dark for me to be able to get a good glimpse of what I saw but it was in the air flying, it has wings and it is shaped like a dragon. “Guys we got company!” The monstrous beast hovered above us in the air.
“I don’t think we’re safe...” Kennen said backing away slowly.
The beast was generating energy around his body. “This isn’t good everyone stay still!” Keno shouted as the beast fired a massive ball of flames towards us.
Keno spun his spear around his body; locking his spear on his shoulders, “Arcana Circle! Protect us!” a giant spell circled around us, but I still was able to feel the impact from the attack that was lunched, not just me but everyone could feel it. The pressure from the attack was so strong that I was brought to one knee. Keno is having trouble holding his ground with the spell. I could tell he wasn’t able to keep this up. I could see a lot of anger on his face, he just wasn’t protecting us, but he is having a battle within himself. “I won’t lose!” he shouted as he flipped his spear off his back and repelled the attack.
The beast flew off in the distance, and the pressure was gone, “What was that?” I said regaining my balance.
“That was Bahamut,” Keno said picking up his spear, “It’s not over yet… he is going to circle back to us.”
“What do we do?” Hoango said in fear.
“I for one do not want to fight that.” Yaj said.
“I agree.” Kennen replied to his statement.
“Yaj, Kennen the both of you find Sophie and get everyone out of this village, Hoango we’re gonna fight.” I said pulling out my blade.
“Roger.” Kennen and Yaj said at the same time and ran the opposite direction.
“Wait… why I have to stay…” Hoango said hesitating.
“You asked what do we do right, well we fight.” I said
“Why did I have to open my big mouth?” Hoango said as he started to channel chi through his body.
Taira walks over to me, “We’ve fought with Bahamut before… it was a miracle that we survived.”
“It doesn’t seem like we can escape this battle.” I said to him.
“Our first battle together.” He said unsheathing one of his four blades.
“It would be an honor.” I said as we stood back to back.
Amaxong lifts up his scarf to cover his face, and starts to do these weird hand movements.
“I will make the first move!” Keno shouts as he jumps into the air.
Keno jumped so high into the air, so high up that we lost sight of him.
“Is he gonna be okay?” I asked Taira
“Yeah he will, if it wasn’t for Keno, Amaxong and I wouldn’t be alive right now.” He said as Bahamut launched the first strike as he landed. The aftershock from his landing was enough to send the four of us off our feet. The wind it created was so intense I couldn’t stop myself. I knew I was going to die the moment I collide with something. Hoango was able to catch himself with one of the pillars that supports a home in the village and he manages to catch my hand.
“Hoango don’t let go!” I shouted.
“That’s… kind of hard… with this stupid massive wind!” Hoango replied as he struggled trying to save the both of us.
Taira and Amaxong were able to stop themselves with their weapon impaling the earth.
“You ready!” Taira said to Amaxong.
“Let’s go!” He replied as he disappeared.
The wind stopped, I regained my balance and picked up my sword.
“Let’s go join them!” I said as Hoango and I ran up to regroup with the others.
Bahamut charged another fire ball and launched it towards Taira. Taira stood in a stance with his Katana held up high. He closed his eyes and starts to control his breathing. As the ball of fire got close his eyes opens and he slices the ball of fire in half. He wasted no time and effort and dashed in for another attack. Taira spun his body and with a blink of an eye he made a giant mark on the dragon, “Zentatsuken,” he said as Bahamut roared with rage, and with his tail he whipped it sending Taira off his feet into a home. Before Taira made impact. Hoango was able to catch him breaking his fall.
“You okay,” Hoango said as Taira got on his feet.
“Yeah, I’ve had worst.” He replied
I started to chant my spell, “Flash!” a bright light blinded the beast. He roared in rage of fury and ran in my direction. The beast was slashing, and thrashing its way. I was able to maneuver my way out of its wrath, but the beast swung its tail sending me off my feet into the air. The impact was so strong even with my shield my arm felt like it is shattered to pieces. I helplessly tried to remove my shield from the strap. The pain that it gave was too much. As I was struggling with the arm strap on the shield, I forgot about Bahamut. The dragon was in the air; in my face charging another one of his attacks. Time moved in slow motion and I wasn’t able to remove this strap and now a gigantic ball of fire is heading my way. In a split second Amazong appeared and grabs my shoulder as he did he said something very quickly, “Substitution,” the both of us disappears and lands gently on the ground. The attack that Bahamut sent missed and landed far away from the village but the impact was so strong we felt the aft
ershock it gave.
“How do we beat this thing!” I said successfully removing my shield strap.
“I’m borrowing this.” Amaxong said as he took my blade out of my hands and throws it at the beast.
“Why did you do that!?” I said to him in an uproar.
“I’m going to teleport you.”
“What!?” I said but before I could say any more Amaxong started to do some hand symbols; after he was done he touched my forehead.
“Whatever you do… don’t let go…” he said as he lifts his finger.
My body vanished and before I knew it my hand was gripped to the handle of my blade. I was on the side of the dragon. It was hard for me to move. I couldn’t move my left arm because of the impact from before. With my upper body I was able to bring my feet to grip some of his scales. I was able to position myself to not fall off. I took my blade and started to stab him viciously. Bahamut swerved in the air desperately trying to shake me off. I didn’t let him win the fight. Bahamut flew even higher into the air and did a summersault, as he went upside down I lost the grip with my feet and sword. Yet again time went by slowly. I saw the dragon flying down and stop right below me. The beast opened its mouth and I just realized it. He is going to eat me…
Hoango flew in from the side of him and kicked him in the face. “Dragon kick!” he twisted his body and with his other leg he kicked Bahamut back down to Vana’diel.
Hoango and I are floating in the air, “What do we do!?” I shout to him.
“We’ve had worst…”
“Yeah… we’ve had…”
The both of us threw on a sad face.
“Okay let’s stop kidding ourselves this is the worst we’ve had!” Hoango shouted the truth.
“We’re going to die!” I shouted as Amaxong appeared and grabbed the both of us and took us down safely with a parachute.
“Oh thank you Buddha!” Hoango preyed.
As we land we saw Taira and Bahamut fighting it out. Taira was pushing him back with his blade, but the powerful dragon pushes him back with a roar. Taira was able to regain his balance and threw up his blade. He pulled out the other three and threw them up into the air as well. “Keno is about to fall back down! Amaxong find them some good footing!” Bahamut rushed over to Taira as he started his technique, “Seal this beast in Pandora’s box!” and with a blink of an eye Taira stood behind the dragon and his blades were stuck into the ground in a box formation. Bahamut struggled but he couldn’t move out of the blades formation.
“Everyone duck and cover!” Taira said as he took out a knife and stuck it into the ground.
Hoango and I were clueless as to what was happening. I then noticed something in the sky it seemed like a meteor was falling down, and as I looked closer, it was Keno falling back down from the sky. Everything happened so fast that I wasn’t ready for the aftershock of what was going to happen. Keno came back down from the skies and impaled Bahamut on his long neck, slamming the dragon into the ground causing a massive crater, and breaking all the homes in the village. Hoango and I were too impressed by Keno’s attack and we were taken by the aftershock. Before we got far Amaxong threw a rope cable toward our feet to stop us from flying any farther away. As the wind died Hoango and I were speechless. Bahamut struggled to get up on his feet, but Keno wouldn’t allow it. “Sit down!” he shouted as he stabbed it again with his spear. Bahamut grew in rage and fought to get back up. Keno wasn’t even phased by the dragon’s tantrum. He lifted his spear again and this time I saw energy surging through the spear. He pieced the dragon again and shouted, “I said sit down! FUS RO DAH!” a spirit emitted from the shout and Bahamut has calmed down. The four of us regrouped and went over to Keno and the dragon. Keno was standing in front of his face.
“He’s scared,” He said as he started to pet the dragon.
“Of what!?” Hoango questioned.
“Bahamut is the king of dragons, for something to scare him it must have been a great threat.” He said as Bahamut started to lick Keno.
“You have tamed the beast.” I asked
“Every dragon can be tamed, every dragon has a method.” He replied trying to sooth the dragon.
“What does this mean?” Taira said wondering in thought,
“It has to be connected to Balthier.” Amaxong spoke as Sophie, Kennen, and Yaj came back to join us.
“Oh my god another dragon!” Sophie shouts with joy and runs over to Bahamut.
“Looks like it did a number on you guys.” Kennen said with a smirk.
“What’s with that smirk on your face?” Hoango shouted with anger that he had to stay behind.
“I’m glad you’re all okay,” Yaj said walking up to the dragon, “So this is what a dragon looks like from close up, I’ve never seen one before.”
“So what now?” Taira said to me.
“We go after balthier.” I replied.
“What about the village people?” Sophie said butting into the conversation.
“Hoango, take Kennen, Sophie, Yaj and the village people to Windurst. Safely get them there” I said as Hoango strongly disagrees.
“And what about you? You can’t go by yourselves to fight another king!”
“I’m not by myself,” I said as I point to our new mates, “They also have a grudge with this man it’s only fair that they come with me.”
“But you don’t!”
“This man has my woman!” I said as Sophie and Kennen threw on a smile.
Hoango lifts his hand, “Fine… you win”
I grabbed his hand, “Thank you.”
“Come back alive.”
“I will… we all will.”
The two groups departed their separate ways. Hoango and his group safely took the homeless villagers to Windurst to start a new. As I and this new group of comrades went to Youmi to fight the ruthless Balthier.
As I walked with my new comrades Taira spoke.
“Donattsu, your arm, you okay?” he said
“I’ll be fine.” I said covering up the bruise with my shield.
“I don’t think so it looks pretty bad.” Amaxong said.
“How would you know?” I replied.
“Well one, I can see through your shield, your arm is bruised pretty badly, and if you’re wondering… I can see through clothes too if I wanted too.”
“Sorry guys, I think it’s broken.” I said as Keno and Bahamut flew into the air.
“We’re gonna go on ahead!” he shouted to us and flew off.
“There he goes.” Taira said as he examined my arm, “Yeah, it’s broken.”
“That’s what I feared,” I replied I felt a dark presence behind us. “Identify yourself!”
Amaxong took out a Kunai and Taira drew his blade.
The man was in a black chain mail carrying a large scythe he spoke. “I mean no harm, you seem hurt.”
“Who are you?” I said to him drew out my blade.
“My name is Naitomea.” He said introducing himself, “I know a red mage in Youmi that might be able to help you.”
“Are you with balthier?” Taira questioned him.
“Why do you ask?” he questioned back.
“Just answer.”
“I am not with his army if that is what you ask; I am going there to see a friend.”
“Can we trust him?” Taira whispers to me.
“Why not? He doesn’t seem vicious.” I threw my hand out to greet him, “I’m Donattsu, it would be a big help to us if you gave us a hand.”
He shook my hand and we followed him to Youmi.
As we reached the town we headed into a guild that this red mage was in. As we got in, the three of us sat on a table waiting. I was looking around the guild and saw a flier with a face on it. I stood up to take a look. I went over to the piece of paper on the wall and I couldn’t believe my eyes. On the paper was Naitomea’s face with a bounty. Eight million Gil to whoever brings in this murderer dead or alive. My eyes widened and I looked over to the two sitting, “Guys, come look. We might have a problem.”
